I love Xavier Neal's stuff so I was expecting to like this. I felt she took a big risk in making Luca so despicable, but about 1/3 of the way through I liked him and I was rooting for him to get his stuff together. I'm not 100% sure that he deserved Alexxa but I believe he'll try really hard to. Now bring on Warren's story! Can't wait to see if he gets a girl. I love the nerdy sweet type.

I lowered the rating a little because this is exactly like Blind.

Holy hotness!!! Love this story! Luca, Warren and Alexxa are best friends. Luca and Warren made a bet that Luca would bone Alexxa by the end of summer. Luca is a man-whore bedding half of his town – young, old, married; he is not picky. Warren is a nerdier roommate; he is closer and has more things in common with Alexxa. Alexxa is a 28 year-old woman but hasn’t experienced much with men, partly due to her busy schedule and partly because she is already content with her 2 best friends. Luca started out playing along with Warren but the game bit him in the butt as he started having real feelings for his best friend. To complicate matters, he was Alexxa’s first. What happened then when Alexxa finds out the whole dating thing is a big scheme. Can she forgive or will she lose her 2 best friends forever?

Luca is bit of a man-whore and he frustrated me sometimes. He knows he has the good looks, cocky at times but he is also funny. Warren is sweet and caring – I feel like he would be a better match for Alexxa but that is just my opinion. He is probably more of a best friend/ brother to Alexxa. Alexxa is a strong girl, sweet, quirky. She is not easily swayed but eventually she falls for her best friend. I thought this was a cute read with funny banters and a nice friend to lover storyline. Their relationship is of course panty dropping sexy; the chemistry is undeniable there.

Overall, this was a fun, witty and sexy read. Low on drama besides the obvious. First time I read the author’s book and won’t be my last. Happy Reading! :)

I'm going to start off by saying I am a fan of Xavier Neal's work. I'm also on her review team so I receive her eArcs so that I can put up a review on release day. Notice it isn't release day. I told her I was going to wait about a week before leaving my review because honestly I didn't like this story.
I can see why many people would. It's the typical manwhore realises he's in love with his best female friend story. I did like Alexa to a point. However Warren and Luca was another story.
The 3 of them are best friends and always making bets. So when Luca decides he wants to start something with Alexa without letting his feelings be known obviously the way to go is make a bet with Warren that he won't refuse.
So these two risks their friendship with her for money and slave labor! Doesn't really seem like they thought too much of her then. Warren even offers to drop the bet at one point and Luca refuses.
Also he's kind of an idiot. He's wanting her to want him but continued to bring random girls home (even when he knows she's coming over) while getting jealous of her going on dates.
By the end it all works out and he straightens up his crap but it was too late for me by that point.

I was sent an eArc by the author in exchange for a honest review. Thank you

Five Amazingly Risky Friendship Stars! Three best friends, Warren, Luca, and Alexxa, and a bet is made that Luca can bed Alexxa. Luca is a womanizer, and he does not believe in relationships but, has always has been attracted to Alexxa. What will happen to their friendship? Will Alexxa fall for him and can Luca change and become a one woman man? This book is brilliantly written and I thoroughly enjoyed it! This book is sweet, funny and of course steamy! I loved the characters and found myself reading it in one night! This is a stand-alone novel. I look forward to reading more by this author. I highly recommend it!

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. This book was read and reviewed by Annamaria for Alpha Book Club.

A gamble is an understatement! Three best friends. Two players. One bet. Luca risks his one true female friendship on one almighty stupid bet. Xavier, you did a good job at making us dislike Luca 😅 throughout the first few chapters i thought hmm you have alot of work to redeem this guy 😂 although he is the biggest d*ck, I couldn't help but enjoy the banter and friendship between Luca and Alexxa. As always there are laugh out loud moments that literally have you cracking up and the nitty gritty bits in-between...Warren really did make a brillaint third wheel 👌🏼 i really enjoyed his character throughout, even if he did give in to the bet at the beginning 😏 but come on, if Luca managed to redeem himself then of course Warren did too. If you are ready for a witty, fun contemporary romance then dive right in! Get ready to want to slap then hug Luca 😉🤪😂

This was a super fast and entertaining friends to lovers romance. It’s one of those that read like the plot of an amazing rom com and I really enjoyed it! There’s something about the cocky asshole who gets laid as easily and as fast as placing an order at a restaurant, placing a bet he can get this one girl in his bed by the end of summer only for her to throw him for constant loops by refusing. It makes for hilarious and cute scenes.
Luca was insufferable at times especially in the beginning but just like with Alexxa he grows on you and you find yourself slowly falling for him. Alexxa was a fantastic female character and one I know I would be friends with in real life.

“We don’t belong together. We’re best friend. We burp the alphabet in tandem not moan each other’s names like an R & B duo.” ~Alexxa~

What happens when a bet goes all wrong, and two people who aren’t supposed to fall in love with each other do? Will they risk it all for love? The Gamble reminded me of why I fell in love with Xavier Neal’s writing a year and a half ago. She makes you laugh, she makes you cry, and she makes you wanted to do some damage to your Kindle. When Neal introduced us to Logan Kellar, I thought he was the world’s biggest manwhore (although a very loveable and sexy one). If you think Logan was a dog, you would be wrong. Logan is a saint compared to Luca. But, as with Logan, you can’t help but fall in love with Luca too. Honestly, in the beginning, I knew I was going to hate him. I mean, who in their right mind, makes a bet to have sex with his best friend? That is exactly what Luca does with his other best friend, Warren. He bets him that he can have their best friend, Alexxa, in his bed by the end of the summer. Yes…you know as well as I do this is a trainwreck waiting to happen!

As with all of Neal’s books, her characters are complex and pull you into the story. You are on the outside looking in, and you can see exactly what’s going to happen, but you can’t stop it. I felt every emotion that Luca and Alexxa did. I swooned when she did. I wanted to punch him in the face and kill him when she did. I also fell in love with him like she did. I could see him falling for her no matter how much he fought it. I wanted to shake some sense into him. I don’t think I’ve ever come across such a stubborn male character before!!!! But, I also couldn’t help loving him, especially when he let his guard down and let her see him like no one else has before. Alexxa has to be my favorite all-time character, EVER!!! LOVED, LOVED this girl! She may be naïve in some aspects, but she is also incredibly intelligent, and down to earth. She knows how to be a guy with Luca and Warren. I loved their friendship and easiness with each other as much as the sex! I REALLY, REALLLY hope Warren gets his story soon. Loved that guy!!!

Xavier Neal continues to prove herself a talented and versatile writer. Every time I open one of her books, I know it’s her passion….not just a hobby….but a passion. I see it with every word and each character she writes. When you see the emotion a writer pours into their work, it connects you with the story. It ceases to be just a book but an experience. Whether Neal is making you laugh or cry, you are truly in that moment with her. As always, I am on pins and needles awaiting her next new release!

Well, that was a ride and a half.

I'm going to get the negative out the way first. Now I don't mind at all when a writer talks to the reader, a chatty prose is often a good thing in my book but I couldn't handle it in this book. After the first 40% I literally stopped reading the Italic text even though some of that was inner monologue as well as chatting to the reader. And wow as soon as I stopped getting tripped by that the story rolled and had my fullest attention.

Now characters, OMG I **H A T E D** Luca at the start, absolutely hated him. He was a pig of epic proportions and I wanted Alexxa to run for the bloody hills. I did not want to read at all his escapades before hooking up with Alexxa, why the hell would I? But...stick with it if you struggle with him like me, because boom, he doesn't exactly turn-it-around per se, but he does become more pleasant to read and engage with.

To sum up The Gamble Luca was an utter womanising prick that would fuck anything and I mean anything stood still long enough, the writing and story was good enough to keep you glued. I didn't enjoy the OTT of being talked to so much but I certainly got behind all the characters. Alexxa I was a bit cross with, she's saved herself all that time to give it up to 'him' the man whose dick had been dipped more times than any wick in a candle factory but it was the wit and characterisation that kept me glued too. Alexxa's character had a great sense of humour, great comebacks and easy to engage with, the same with Luca and even Warren. Warren was just an all round likeable male specimen.

Glad I read this, if the chatty italic prose had not been so OTT I'd have given this 5 stars, well okay, 4.5 because I still hate Luca pre Alexxa days, hell even when he was trying to 'catch' her he was still off dipping it elsewhere at the start.

My first book by Xavier (who oddly I thought was a man until I looked 'her' up half way through), and it won't be my last. I received The Gamble to review, my review is honest and 100% my own.

This was a first for me by this author. I know of her from another group and was very excited to get the chance to read her latest.
I gotta say I wasn't a big fan of Luca. Matter of fact, I was of the opinion that he is and A$$ of epic proportions.
Any guy who pressures his other best friend into making a bet that shouldn't have been made in the first place...Jeeze I wanted to reach into the book and smack Luca just so it would make me feel better.
Alexxa is sweet and honest and loyal and she knows what she wants out of life. She's loud and a little crazy and has a bit of a potty mouth, but she likes to have fun. She's also innocent to a degree and has no idea what her two best buds are up to.
Luca didn't make me change my mind about him until he fell for the girl. Then I began to really understand him, why he acts the way he does.
I didn't really get the feels for this book until almost half way through. Then it seemed like the story picked up a lot of steam. Yes, that kind of steam too.
This book is written in first person and there's a lot of what I thought was inner dialogue except it wasn't. Turned out to be the characters talking to me, the reader. Which is kinda weird, but also original. I guess it was the author's way of bringing the reader more into the story maybe? I didn't particularly like it. Some will though I'm sure.
The Gamble isn't a fast read that makes you turn pages quickly only because there's tons of information on each page. This book is a story about a guy who needs to grow up and finds a way to do that through the only person who really makes him realize that life isn't always just about him. This book is also a study in forgiveness.

3 friends, two players, one bet = One Epic Love Story

"I am a Larson. We always get what we want. And I want Alexxa in my bed, calling my name, and cursing god it took her that long to f**k me. Now.... do we have a bet?"

I will say, this book left me so sad and mad. Luca I hated him at first. He was a ladies man that got what he always wanted. Women would drop their panties in a heartbeat to spend the night with him. Then there is sweet Alexxa who has to watch this unfold everyday, she is secretly in love with him, but to keep their friendship she hides those feelings inside her heart. Xavier Neal is a new author to me, and I am astonished by this book. I love the friends to lovers concept, and this one was juicy. I highly recommend.

Luca has two friends that are everything to him, Warren and Alexxa. Warren and Luca are typical manwhores. They are arrogant, selfish, and you will want to punch them in the face a couple of times. But his relationship with Alexxa was bittersweet. Alexxa has been friends with these rugrats for years. They are inseperable. But Alexxa is hiding a huge secret, she has feelings for Luca, but she keeps them locked away so their friendship stays intact.

But Luca being, decides he wants Alexxa and makes a bet with Warren that he can get her into his bed. This bet will change everything, their whole relationship will be tested, feelings be revealed, and friendships will be broken.

Will Luca and Alexxa have a happy ending?
Was it worth the gamble?
Read to find out.

*I received an ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review*

This wasn’t my first book of Xavier Neals, I am always drawn into her books. The Gamble was no exception to my love of her books.

In The Gamble we meet three best friends, Luca, Warren and Alexxa. The two guys end up in a bet of if Luca could sleep with Alexxa by the end of the summer. Warren doesn’t want in on the bet, but Luca pushes him to agree to it and so the plan hatches. Luca is a cocky and arrogant character from the start and I had a hard time growing to like his personality, but once things pick up I did grow to love him! He is very much a play boy and doesn’t see himself settling down anytime in the future. As his plan begins to unfold trying to seduce and win Alexxa over, feelings he didn’t expect get involved. But what will happen when the sweet and innocent best friend, Alexxa, finds out it was all a scam? Even if Luca tries to convince her it may of started off that way, is the damage done and cannot be undone?

All three characters were well written and there were moments with all of them I wanted to throw something at them, and other times I just loved how things all came together. This was a quick and fun read with lots of flirtiness and a twist or two along the way.

I almost DNF'd this. I know I'm in the minority, but I really disliked not only Luca, but this entire book. I absolutely hated how practically every other paragraph was italicized with long, boring inner dialogue. It took me out of the story every single time this method was used, and it was used A LOT!!

The main reason, though, for my low rating is that Luca is really unlikable. What he and Warren did to Alexxa was really inexcusable, especially for two guys who claimed to be her best friends. I don't care that he ended up falling in love with her, making the bet in the first place was ridiculous, selfish and malicious. I think it makes it worse that Alexxa's two best friends made the bet, rather than 2 random guys who were interested in her. What kind of best friends are they, really? If my best friend had made that bet, regardless of whether he fell in love with me later, then he'd no longer be my best friend, nor would I take him back.

Sorry, I just could not get behind this book.

Luca has quite the pop potty mouth, “when you demanded I take my effing shorts off and touched my ***k. What did you think would happen? An Al Green solo?” Luca's mind is like a damn gutter, the boy is always thinking naughty thoughts, "from the bar counter, Luca chuckles and tips hisher beer to his lips, “I like the way you handle my meat.” I really enjoyed this book, and now I want Warren's story.

This was such an entertaining read, it was funny, light on drama, and sexy. I always love the playboy falling for the less experienced woman, and a bet placed within best friends in the middle of everything is an old recipe but I can't deny I still like reading them. Luca is a big playboy and a bad boy, and I love those even though we aren't supposed to love them, I'm a sucker for the very bad dark guys, so yes you will hate Luca at the beginning, but then it will grow on you, this is a steamy read and be prepared for it.

I think this is my favorite Xavier Neal book yet.

Luca Larson, es muy malo. He’s the bad boy papi chulo who gets all the culo.

Warren is Luca’s boy. His best friend who likes to egg him on.

Alexxa, she's the guy’s girl. The chick that chills with the dudes and burps the alphabet.

So what happens when Warren and Luca make a bet that Luca can get busy with Alexxa by the end of the summer? What happens when that bet starts to get real and feelings start to develop? And what happens when Alexxa finds out it was a gamble?

Xavier’s writing style is so unique to her, she takes you through all the feels. You hate some characters, love others. You will laugh and scream at your kindle at the same time. Then she throws in some hot scenes and you get the perfect story with an amazing HEA.

Recommend this if you like your romance books light, comedic and steamy.

You’ll hate Luca’s playboy ways, but you’ll definitely fall in love with his sweet side. There were multiple times where I couldn’t decide whether I wanted to smack or kiss him. 😂 Alexxa was a strong female character and I loved every one of her rebuttals to Luca’s advances. Being best friends and practically knowing everything about each other’s habits, he really had to work hard to woo her. It was so entertaining to watch him struggle! I absolutely loved the chemistry between these two and when the steam hit, I couldn’t get enough.

I loved this book and I loved Alexxa but if you are anything like me, you aren't going to always love or even like Luca. This book delivers everything I've come to expect from this author; strong storylines, complex characters that are unique and flawed, lots of emotions, humor, steam, drama and heart. You can expect to smile and laugh and sweat, shed a few tears, sigh as you swoon and probably want to throat punch Luca (or at least give him and Warren a good solid kick in the pants). LOL! One things for sure, the feels are major and well worth the roller coaster ride you take to get them.

I enjoyed this story. This was a good friends-to-lovers book. Luca and I had a love/hate relationship. But he really grows on you. Alexxa was a strong female lead and I really liked her. The banter is great in this book!

Risque finds it's heart. Despite a few false starts. The Gamble reads like an anti-romance. A devastating mix of temptation and heartache that will have emotions tied up in knots. Yet, somehow Neal pieces the heart back together with a beauty that eclipses the pain.

Holy Crap Xavier! I never thought Logan would ever have a challenger in the ego department but ladies i present to you Luca.....lol! Cocky is just the first word of many that id use to describe Luca! This man has no self esteem problems what so ever! He is 100% man whore and damned proud of it! He uses women to scratch an itch and thats it. If he feels the need to stay at home and watch a movie or go out to see one or do anything else he has two best friends Warren and Alexxa to do those things with. Then he gets an idea...a bet....one that will change everything! When he approaches his best friend Warren with the idea of a bet to bed Alexxa Warren is seriously upset and refuses. But Luca wants this bet, he wants Alexxa so there's no way hes not going to make this bet so tempting that Warren wont be able to resist taking it!

Alexxa has sat back and watched Luca parade women back and forth to his bedroom forever. She is hid her feelings for him. He and Warren are her best friends and she would never do anything to risk those friendships. Watching Luca is painful tho. Working with him and spending her spare time at home with him is a painful experience. As much as she loves laughing with him at work and at home, it breaks her heart a little every time she sees the knowing looks on co workers faces that have been with him. Imagine her surprise when Luca starts hitting on her and asking her out on dates! Is the risk worth the reward?!?! Can she risk the friendship she has with Luca for the chance at a possible relationship with him? Can he possibly even attempt to be a one woman man? Can she handle the loss of her friendship with him if he fails?!?!?!

Can she handle the loss of her friendship with him if he fails?!?!?!

Xavier has done such an awesome job with this story. I absolutely LOVED this book even though I was irritated at the male main characters for most of it. Xavier has this way with writing her books, the inner dialogue the characters have with themselves is one that will have you feeling almost more connected with them. Its as if they are really carrying on a conversation with you and its something I don't think I ever see other authors do. Xavier's books are books that will stand out from all the other books you read and you won't be disappointed in the least bit. I am so glad that I stumbled upon Xavier Neal and her great books, with this being one of them.

Luca, Warren and Alexxa are the best of friends. They have been friends for 3 years and they spend almost all of their free time with each other. Alexxa is definitely one of the bros and they treat her as such except for the rare drunken behavior from Luca. One day the boys decide to make a bet. This is a bet that could be the end of their friendship with not only Alexxa but with each other as well. As time goes on and things get more complicated instead of backing out of the bet they continue and this choice could cost them more than they were expecting.

Warren seemed like such a sweet, caring and smart man that had so much in common with Alexxa. Luca is the guy who only thinks with the equipment that is in his pants. He frustrated me to no end and all the while I wanted to hate him but you could tell there was something more and you were just waiting to see what lies beneath all the crap he spews. Alexxa is the odd girl out in her family and with Warren and Luca she has found a "family" where she fits. They mean the world to her and she has been by them and seen them at their worst. She never thought anything would get in the way of their friendship but then one of them changes things and it may not be for the best.

I highly recommend this book. I can tell you that it will definitely get your blood pumping and not only from the dirty talking playboy with a body of a god and one who knows how to use what he was given but also from the wide range of emotions you will be feeling in this book. I got so mad at times that I just wanted to jump in my Kindle and punch them.

He gags. “Rather clip those dinosaur claws you call toenails than touch your next generation Herpes coated sheets.”
I laugh and take a sip.
You can't figure out what you find more disgusting about that sentence can you?" Luca.
This is not your typically narrated story or POV. The main character, Luca uses first person narratives. So, Luca is talking to me, I have insight into his mind-and somehow he thinks he has insight into mine. He is incorrect in his assumptions there. I want to find him amusing, but the struggle is real, I cannot. I have a slew of words to describe him that the censors would not allow. #Crasshole
Warren may try to take the role of the friend who holds the "moral high ground" he does not. It's ridiculous. He agrees to the bet. Why is this a problem for me? I'll let Warren explain, “But you know it's wrong. She's our friend. Our best friend. That fact doesn't F••• with your conscience even a little?”
And there it is. Why I can't get behind this story. Alexxa, she drank the Kool-aide. Ugg. You can tell she likes him and doesn't know it. LOL. I have to laugh, I'm not bashing my head in over this one. "Luca just does what he wants, when he wants, and doesn't care about the rest of the world's opinion. It makes him oddly charismatic." Alexxa is very cool, very funny and sadly a little misguided. She puts all her faith into Luca, she needed to reserve some of that for herself.
The author does a great job getting me to tolerate and even feel some sympathy for Luca. Which I never thought would be possible. Ultimately ,Luca does redeem himself. This story ends happily. However, I'm not satisfied. This story came with a lot of angst and immaturity. I had to suffer through their growing pains along with them. The story did start a little rough, but smoothed out. I do recommend this book for readers who appreciate angst and young adult romance. Those readers will appreciate the story more than I did.

5 Stars!!!

I was given this book in turn for an honest review.

Luca Larson stops at nothing to get what he wants; including women. When he decides he wants Alexxa, will it be worth the gamble or will the wager prove to cost him everything?

Another fantastic 5 Star read from Xavier Neal. I loved every minute of this comedy romance by Xavier Neal. The characters are irresistible each with their own unique traits and loveable personalities. This story is full of humour and many a laugh out loud moments.

Luca Larson is the character you should dislike with a passion, yet you find yourself loving every self-assured inch of him. Although his morals were questionable, what cannot be denied is his honesty about them and his actions. Deep down he had a heart full of love to give and it was clear he acted how he did, to hide the demons he was fighting.

Alexxa is full of wit, she's clever and the perfect friend. She could see people for who they really were and found the good in everyone. No matter who she was with she was full of fun and one liner jokes. I really loved her character; she challenged Luca and knew him better than he knew himself.

This story was a sweet, humorous contemporary romance that gives you a heart full of fun and love. It's not without its frustrating moments and more than once I could have happily slapped Luca, although I'd have been hugging him afterwards too; he really is that irresistible and deep down I knew he didn’t intentionally want to hurt anyone.

If you have read any of Xavier Neal’s books before you won't want to miss this one and if you love humorous contemporary romances you will definitely want to give The Gamble a try.

***ARC provided in exchange for an honest review - Naomi / Scandalous Book Blog

The Gamble definately lived up to its name. I was on the edge of my seat and my head was spinning. This is such a complex story that tells the tale of 3 best friends Luca, Alexaa and Warren and how their lifes change after 1 bet was made. Will this Gamble pay off or will they obliterate everything for these friends?

Luca loves the ladies as do they him. He has never had a problem getting them into bed but Alexaa is in a league of her own. She knows was Luca is and she wont be another botch on his bedpost. Luca has his reasons for being the man he is, He has demons that he runs from instead of facing them. His back story is touching and when you read it you understand why he is the way he is.

Alexaa is one of a kind, she sees the good in everyone. She is funny clever and very loyal however her life is about to change and she dosnt even see it coming.

When Luca makes a bet with Warren that he can get Alexxa into bed you can see the train wreck that is about to happen.

Alexxa has hidden her feelings for Luca throughout their friendship. She is always the one looking in and being left a little more broken when he parades his latest conquest around her. So you can only imagine her surprise when Luca shows her more attention and requests dates with her.

Luca will stop at nothing to have his way thats just the type of cocky guy he is, But along the way Luca realises that Alexaa is everything to him and she is his perfect girl.

There are so many what ifs where these two are concerned but their journey is a fun one to read!!!

I loved this story!!! It is a Standalone, so you get everything you need in a book and you don't even have to wait!! Xavier has came up with such a good game play, and I want in on it. Even though I wanted to scream WTF so many times. How are you going to do that to somebody?? Seriously??

Luca I swear thinks he's Gods gift to earth. He's cocky, and all about himself. So I don't understand why I love him so much. But, I will say that he's about to get knocked down off his mighty pedestal.

Luca Larson lives to Gamble, but when he places this bet he could lose everything. What happens when you bet on your best friend? Life throws you a curve ball, and you swing hoping you get a Home Run.

Alexa is their best friend, a girl driven to do what she loves. These boys are her family, cause being the black sheep in her own has left her feeling like an outcast. I love how strong she is, and how she knows everything about them inside and out. But when one of her best friends starts to seem interested and demands a date, things get a little complicated.

This story had me rushing to turn the pages, trying to figure out where it was going. I really wanted to rip Luca to pieces, while drinking in my girl. But, then BAM Luca had me like on cloud nine routing for him.
I swear Xavier is evil, and loves to get every emotion out of us. I am sad that it is a Standalone only because I loved Warren!! I'm hoping he will pop up sooner or later. Oh and a lovely Kellar drops in, and I know how you ladies love the Kellar men!!

In true Neal fashion, she nailed it...again.

Now, this time around I was not head over heals in love with our hero from the get go. He had a little arrogance to him, well maybe more than a little.

'I am everyone's type. It's a good thing. Makes it easy to keep my cock buried in pussy and want for nothing. I don't like the idea of wanting anything. Needing anyone.'

This was a friends to lovers story and I absolutely loved the banter between Luca and Alexxa.

'Look, Alexxa if you wanna do this, we can. I mean, I'm all fucking in, but we don't have to. You suck a mean cock and I eat a mean pussy. I'm cool with keeping it that way to if that's what you want. Don't feel like you have to fuck me to keep me.'

I have to admit, it took me awhile to fall head over heels for Luca but I did....hard. I knew early on he had some shit going on in his head and that's the reason he kept himself closed off from feeling anything for anyone. There became a point in the story where I knew I was falling for him.

'I'll never be fucking more than just the type of person people only like for a moment.'

Bottom line...I loved it. It was a light read. Nothing to heavy. Xavier Neal kept with her fashion of making ME feel like part of the story and I think that's my favorite part. Now....question is...

When do we get Warren??

Betting on getting in your best friends pants is never the way to remain friends. Luca and Warren have a bet going. If Luca can get Alexxa in bed before the end of summer, Warren has to do his laundry. If Luca can't, Luca pays Warren's half of the rent for the rest of their lease. Too bad Alexxa is best friends with both of the guys and knows nothing of the bet. To Alexxa, this is a summer of change. She has a new job, is looking for a new apartment and can't take anything her joking man-whore friend says seriously. After all, she's watched as he's slept with everyone who's looked interested. Sometimes you are laughing and joking to avoid looking inside, not seeing what you are about to lose.

Although I found The Gamble a bit slow to get into, by the 3rd chapter I was hooked. Luca is not a very likable character, even for a bad boy. He changes, grows from his mistakes. Learning about his past makes it a bit more understandable, why he is the person he is. Alexxa is a tomboy, who is a bit innocent considering who she runs around with. Warren is the odd man out. He's the third wheel that pulls everything together. I would love to see what happens next to him, to all of them. Sometimes the reward makes the gamble worth the risk.
