After losing her home and business in a flood, photographer Claire Walker relocates to Nashville, determined to rebuild her life. Two men kidnap Claire in the middle of the night in a scheme to force her captive brother to divulge classified information. When she escapes, Claire calls the one man who can help her evade the kidnappers and save her brother. Navy SEAL Zane Murphy had his career mapped out until an IED changed his life forever. A warrior to his bones, now he hunts terrorists in the corridors of cyberspace for Fortress Security. Although he hasn't been in the field for two years, Zane can't refuse a plea for aid from a missing operative's sister. When he's accused of betraying his fellow operatives, Zane vows to clear his name, unmask the real traitor, and protect Claire. The SEAL calls on friends and an elite Delta unit to assist in the mission to save Claire's brother. With time running out, Zane has no choice but to take the woman who captured his heart into the enemy's stronghold.
Claire Walker relocated to Nashville after her home and business flooded. Being an in demand photographer has it's advantages. She can do her job from anywhere.
While her brother, Adam, is away on one of his missions for Fortress Security, Claire is kidnapped. In her line of business it pays to be observant and pay attention to details. Her only thoughts are to get away from Thug One and Thug Two. Once she escapes their clutches, her only move is to call Zane Murphy, the one person her brother insisted will keep her safe at all times. If her brother trusts him, then she'll trust him... no matter what.
While in the military, Zane Murphy's team was hit by an IED leaving him the sole survivor... and in a wheelchair. But he is a SEAL to his bones and can't see himself doing anything else. He loves his job as communications expert and tech guru at Fortress Security. He might not be able to protect his teammates while fighting along side them in the field, but he will do what ever he can to keep the operatives and principals in the field safe from behind his computer screen.
When he receives a call from Claire informing him that she's in trouble, he doesn't have to think twice about protecting her. He will do everything he can to make her safe and keep her out of the hands of the jerk who's holding her brother hostage.
But one look at Claire and Zane knows he's in trouble. There's something about Claire that has drawn him in. For the first time in a long time, a beautiful woman is looking at him and seeing the man that he is... not the man in the chair. He doesn't dare believe that someone like Claire would ever fall in love with him. But Claire is a rare gem and one that Zane doesn't want to let go. If they can rescue her brother and get out of the enemy's clutches alive, he will do everything in his power to show her that he can be worthy of her. He will treat her like the treasure she is for the rest of their lives.
Wow! All I can say is WOW! I absolutely LOVED this book! I had the hardest time putting it down! It took my kindle falling and hitting me in the face a couple of times before I would put it down for the night. I kept telling myself... just one more chapter. Haha. And of course I just had to wake up earlier than usual just so I could finish the book.
I have loved Zane from the very beginning and was dying to read his book! I knew it would take one special lady to capture his heart and Claire is absolutely perfect! She is a feisty little spitfire! Oh how I loved seeing her protectiveness come out when people weren't treating Zane the way he deserved to be treated. These two are definitely a favorite of mine!
I am really loving these series! And I am so glad I stumbled upon Ms. Deel. I haven't been able to put her books down! I'm looking forward to reading more by her!
I have been dying to cast Claire and Zane! I absolutely adore these two! What do you think?!
Content: Mild violence. No swearing. Clean romance... just swoony kisses!
This was another great Fortress story. Good forward momentum, and a good balance of action and relationships. Old friends, new friends. All likable characters. I love that I always know what I'm getting when I pick up a book by Rebecca Deel. Clean romantic suspense.
Literally been counting the books I need to read in order to get to this one in the series! I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Zane and Claire’s story! And let me tell ya, it did NOT disappoint.
Zane is an incredibly talented tech guru for Fortress Security, and a Navy SEAL who is now bound to a wheelchair. He is very intelligent and works so hard to keep field operatives alive.
Claire was simply awesome! She is short and petite, but from the very beginning you see that she is feisty and has courage in spades. I loved watching her and Zane together- she constantly stands up for him and won’t let ANYONE treat him with less respect than he deserves. I really admired her.
Sigh. I’m always sad when good books end. This is one I’ll definitely be reading again!
I really liked this one. I found the story engaging and it held my attention all the way through. Lots of characters to keep up with but the author did a good job so I was able to keep up with the relationships between them all. The main characters were the perfect complement to each other and I enjoyed the interaction between them. Definitely recommend this book. This is a clean Christian suspenseful romance.
This was book four in the Fortress Security series. This is a must read series . For anyone who reads this series you must also read the Otter Creek series by the same writer. They all hAve some of the same characters. There are all worth reading. All five star books.
This was a great story with a lot if twists and turns. The relationship between them was fun and exciting with some intrigue thrown in.. I recommend this book.
A moving romantic story with surprise special ops rescue mission - read when you need your heart strings tugged!
This is a contemporary romantic story falling in love for someone core value, honor, integrity, loyalty that you know they will be your partner for life. It so moving it discuss Claire's 5foot height challenges (I'm 5 foot and always complained I needed just 2 more inches-never again). Zane the command tech n secret guru discussing his wheel chair challenges. Gives input on life of a 6foot 4" Navy Seal to a veteran in a wheel chair perspective. It was inspirational. That not all attempts of kidnapping, kidnapping, torture and rescue. Special ops on steroids. Humor and grace is what makes me think of Claire and Integrity and Humble Hero for Zane. A great book. Violence 2, S0 clean romance.

When kidnappers try to take Claire the deep baritone voice belonging to a man her brother told her to call in case of emergency keeps her grounded until help arrives. Zane once again used the phone to help a woman belonging to a teammate. It is the beginning of the scariest time in her life and perhaps in this Seal's life. A must read
Really liked the characters and the premise. Not new but usually entertaining. Very rushed hea, I thought. Would have liked to see more about the difference that kept being mentioned there were with his disability but never gotten into. Sex was quite tame but sweet
Another fabulous book in this series Rebecca never disappoints every book in series are 5stars strong hero's and strong woman action, suspense romance happy endings couldn't ask for more.
Happy to read Zane's story. Zane always plays a part in helping the members of Fortress so it was great that he and Claire had such a good story, and everyone jumped to have their back.
Zane former SEAL and tech genius of Fortress gets his book. Claire is the sister of a fellow operative who calls on him for help. Many characters from the previous books make an appearance and the inner workings of Fortress are revealed.
I love how all our favorite people from other books are in this one. I loved that they didn't feel on him being in a wheel chair and it shows how people in a wheel chair are just as capable as everyone else. Their falling in love felt fast but that's how it is for some people.
Just a terrific book. The plot was first rate. The characters were extremely interesting. This author is a really good one. This book becomes one of my favorites.
Zane has always been a great asset to the Otter Creek and Fortress Series. So glad that he was able to find his other half. When faced with challenges and issues from the war that we don't all realize, it was nice to have it presented in this fashion. Claire is so accepting and I love how she used her spine of steel to defend Zane and showed him that someone can love him, iron horse and all!
I loved the characters, the plot and subplots, the suspense, the action scenes, and the romances. This is an enjoyable book and I appreciate that it doesn't have graphic sex. Each book in this series pulls you into the action right away. And of course the happy endings are wonderful.
I've been enjoying this series especially the operations the teams deal with. This addition to the series was a bit confusing with so many characters being involved. I felt like there were some questions about Zane that weren't answered. Otherwise, another good story.
