Rate this book
The major factions of Chicago—the police, the White Court of Vampires, and "Gentleman" Johnny Marcone's underworld network—are officially at war! At the heart of the conflict is the malevolent, psychotic Puck. Why he's turned these forces against each other is a mystery. A bigger one is how Harry is going to track him down and defeat him while his city is engulfed in violence. Seeking the help of an even more powerful entity may be his only choice.

Stuff is happening. Good. And it's getting better. Though Murphy looks pretty... untouched in the hospital bed for someone who just had her butt handed to her.

Harry: Something foul-smelling had officially hit the fan in Chicago. I'd only been gone for about eight hours, and open warfare has broken out between the city's most powerful factions."

It's official chaos as every faction, Police, Marcone and White Court, is making WAR on the others, convinced the others targeted their people first. Their excuse? Perception alters the balance of power and if they don't act, the others will anyway, such a silly reason to go with the flow! In desperation, Harry calls on his godmother for help, only to be surprised! Another great issue.

The action gets better

This is a great story with a bad guy who is definitely unique. Luck just wants to have fun and unfortunately this involves causing others to commit acts of violence he gets to enjoy. Wish it had been a bit longer but it got the job done. Dresden fans will be happy.
