I love to read. It's a simple fact that has been true since I discovered the worlds of Judy Blume at the age of ten. After years of weekly travel as a consultant implementing computer software into global companies, I ended my nomadic lifestyle to raise my two children. Now, my imagination is my only limitation on where I can go and my writing lets me escape from the daily duties of being a mom, wife, chauffeur, scheduler, cook, teacher, cleaner, and mediator.

If writing wasn't a priority, it would never get done.

I liked this one, not very extreme with the BDSM, and that's great :) Sometimes the scenes just freak me out, but luckily everything was fine here :D

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The story

Cali applies for membership at an exclusive BDSM club, and Jake (one of the owners) is there to interview her and decide if she's suitable. Of course, he's intrigued by her from the start, and once she opens up a bit to him, he realises he can't allow anyone but himself to be her guide in the BDSM world Photobucket
Cali is fascinated by Jake, and once he gives her a taste of real pleasure, she knows she can't go back, or she'd get emotionally attached to him. Photobucket
Jake wants more from Cali, atleast more than one night, and he does everything he can to get her to come back at the club Photobucket

Cali

For years being in a marriage without passion or sex, she had finally divorced, and gathered up the courage to explore her sexuality. Photobucket Being dominated is what she craves, and her husband just couldn't understand that. So she tries the BDSM club. Photobucket Jake is the one who shows her that's she's in the right place, and she finally experiences real sexual and emotional pleasure. Photobucket
I really liked her character, felt sorry for her actually, and was glad when she finally found someone she trusts to take care of her (Jake) Photobucket I even understand her actions at the end, and how she reacted, it's totally understandable Photobucket

Jake

He's affraid of commitment and letting anyone close (aren't they all Photobucket ) but he realises he just can't let Cali go. He tries everything just to convince her to return, and to stay at the club.
At times Jake seemed like a sexual therapist heheheh and the one who heals with sex LOL Photobucket but yes, he helps Cali to better understand herself, and her desires. Really liked him because of that. Photobucket But then came "the incident". Hmm. Not liking him at that point. That is to say, his reaction to it all.

This book was very good, the story and characters, all up until "the blasted incident" happened. That was just too much. Too big of a coincidence that it would actually happen, and that it was the thing that drove them apart. Photobucket And after that, the whole getting back together thing, too too too sweet and full of endless declarations of love. Yeah, it's OK, one time would be enough to me, but saying it over and over and over again? Just too sweet and mushy.

So, if this book ended before the incident, it would have 5 stars from me. But the incident and the ending both took it down a star so it ended at three. Shame really. Photobucket

BTW, can't wait for Dek's story :))))

New Sub-Genre Category : Middle-Aged BDSM Lite for timid divorcees who also require intimacy with their floggings.

Yep. I invented it. Choke on that, mommy porn!

Gah...what were my feelings about this book? Honestly, I felt rather conflicted. This kinda felt like a housewife's fantasy of BDSM - you know, the "don't really want to commit to it, just want a hot guy to rock my world in the bedroom and give me multiple O's without me having to work for it."

Cali was one lucky chick in that aspect. She didn't actually have to do much submitting...she just got to show up and have a man take care of her sexual needs, with a few instances of light BDSM play and exhibitionism thrown in to cater to the setting.

However, I know that every situation and every couple is different. Not every couple needs a collar between them. Not every couple requires the use of words like "master" or "sir." Not every couple requires that the woman keep her eyes lowered, or not speak until given permission. What sort of threw me off is that Cali and Jake didn't really commit to any sort of standard at all, other than her letting him take charge sexually. Their first encounter (mild spoiler inside) Now, don't get me wrong, it was hot and sweet...but different. I suppose different can be good sometimes, I guess it just wasn't what I expected.

This would be a great 'starter' BDSM book for people who aren't ready to commit to anything more than a few instances of spanking, flogging, exhibitionism, etc. Nothing here really pushed extreme boundaries, so if your comfort level is on the less extreme side, you'll probably like this if you're interested in trying out BDSM.

The love story itself was PREPOSTEROUS. Wow, I just want to sit here and let the word PREPOSTEROUS roll off my tongue a few times. What a word! I do openly admit to wanting to bitch-slap Cali for a stunt that she pulled. What's that old phrase about the word 'assume' and how it makes an ass out of u and me? Yeah...that.

Overall, this was a weak love story and a moderate steam BDSM. I think it's enjoyable enough for genre newbies, but longtime fans might not be as impressed. At times, I was hoping for more plot than there was because there was no real "showing" of how these two connected. The extent of them getting to know each other was explained to us in that they had spent some time chatting on the phone over a couple of weeks. There was no bonding formed within the story.

If about 25% of the book had been removed, this would have made a perfect erotic short story because I wouldn't have needed plot in that instance. But for a longer, full-length book, I was surprised to find that the romance wasn't given much consideration. I guess when a man gives you the best sex of your life, that must mean the relationship is destined to ROCK FOREVAH!!!

Will I read the next book? Yes, I think I still will. This was a decent read...nothing new, perhaps, but it was good enough to pass the time. I think the upcoming book with the friend and the other club owner might be a good one.

This is another BDSM club style romance novel and I know that there are a lot of these around right now but I did really enjoy this one. It’s deeply romantic and revolves around the central theme of trust, something that is very important in a BDSM relationship.

After a long, sexless marriage that has ended in divorce and two grown children, Cali has decided to investigate her submissive desires by signing up to a very exclusive BDSM club – The Den. Jake, a co-owner, is the Dom who is going to take her on and he takes one look at her application and decides that she is a 44 year old divorcee, desperate to hang on to her youth after her husband dumped her for a younger woman and is only there to validate her desirability and boost her self-esteem

With a heavy sigh, he goes to meet her and is completely taken aback by his reaction to her. She completely enthrals him and he can tell she is a natural sub. As he guides her through her first scene, he is captivated by her graceful submission and she is mesmerised by his dominance and their relationship builds until a BIG MISUNDERSTANDING, that most nefarious of plot devices, strives to cast them asunder. While I’m not a huge fan of that, it did work really well as Cali and Jake both explore their reluctance to truly trust one another due to the heavy baggage that they both carry.

So, yes this is a fairly saturated genre, but I did think this one worked very well. It’s very romantic, the scenes are incredibly erotic and sensual and it mostly kept my interest all the way through. It’s not very hardcore, just some restraints, spankings and public display but what made it work so well for me was the Doms. I loved them all – they’re right up there with Cherise Sinclair’s doms and I had a little mini-squee every time Jake whispered a command to Cali and I can’t wait to see where the author takes us next. I’m definitely going to be carrying on with this series.

My rating: 4 stars or B-

After twenty-two years of non-connubial bliss, recently divorced Cali Reynolds is ready to live out her fantasies at “The Den,” an exclusive BDSM club. She’s longed to give up control and be pushed to the edge of her comfort zone. Cali hopes a Dom delivers the sexual gratification her marriage denied her.

Jake McCallister, Dom and part Den owner, can never stay in one place for very long. His two foster brothers had him sign a five year contract to help manage their BDSM club. Jake’s five years are almost over. He’s restless and ready to move. Jake meets Cali. Now, leaving the club means giving up Cali, which is not as easy as this long-time Dom thought it would be.

The sex had been amazing. But Jake was right; it was the connection she craved. The control he exerted over her would feel empty without the bond that went with it. One he’d cultivated so subtly that she’d been snared before she realized the trap had been set.

He’d made her feel special, safe, for the first time in years. But she couldn’t romanticize it. She was just another sub to him, nothing different. Not someone as old and inexperienced as her.

I really enjoyed this BDSM contemporary romance. Lynda Aicher delivers more than steamy sex on a St. Andrew’s Cross. She gives us interesting characters, although Jake didn’t have as much backstory as I would have liked, I did love Cali’s story. Her husband is much like the Three’s Company character Mr. Roper, a man sexually uninterested in his wife. (Poor Helen!) Cali’s marriage is not a complex story, but the divorce left a messy impact on her adult children and the people she thought were her friends. Her relationship with her daughter adds more dimension to her character and story. Her daughter’s struggle to accept Cali as a woman with physical appetites is both funny and sad. I cheered for Cali to excavate and embrace her sexuality.

The hero, Jake, has very few layers. His emotions and actions are as obvious to the reader as a ‘connect the dots’ line in an activity pad. He’s so transparent that, at times, it’s a wonder how he remains oblivious to his issues. On the plus side, Jake is a mystery to Cali. She is drawn to him like a moth to light. He dominates her. He pleasures her. Jake meets her needs, and Cali’s boundaries are pushed as she had hoped; sometimes, above and beyond her dreams. Despite Jake’s lack of backstory he does have some dimension and vulnerabilities, which is enough for me to chew on as a reader. His foster brothers are very chewy, too!

Bonds of Trust is the first book in the Wicked Play series. I very much enjoyed the sexy times, characters, story, and secondary characters. I’m anticipating Bonds of Need Desire (Wicked Play, #2) as Jake’s foster brother, Deklan Winters, works his Dom charm on Cali’s friend Kendra, who has demons that Deklan will surely help her battle with pleasure.

Final Verdict: Recommended Read

Cover & Title - 5 out of 5
Favorite line - "Love is an illusion easily shattered by reality" & "Almost free, in a way I'd never seen before. That's when I realized how much you pretend."
Favorite Character - Cali

I let you see the parts of me
That weren't all that pretty.
And with every touch
You fixed them.

I really enjoyed this book, it was sweet & kinky. I am a big fan of mummy porn/clit lit & I also enjoy reading BDSM so this book totally worked for me. I also love reading books that have steamy sex scenes but also a story, that is this book.
The characters, chemistry, kink-level all clicked for me. Book heaven.

I would recommend the book & read more by this author.

This is a 2.5 star. It is more than okay, but I can't quite say I liked it. Ms. Lynda is a new to me author. Her covers are cute and the title is interesting. The story blurb caught my attention. I'm hoping for a story with a mature woman who is trying to explore her new found sexuality. This is kind of how the story goes. Cali is a forty something divorcee looking to explore her kinky side.

I can appreciate how difficult it is to become comfortable in one's own skin. For someone who is as old as Cali to finally try to understand kinky herself, it is scare and a shock. The slight cougar theme didn't really help for me. I guess this is because younger men don't generally interest me. Unfortunately, the older I become, the older I require the men I'm interested in to be.

Back to the story, I just couldn't get into it. Ms. Aicher did create realistic characters and I felt for Jack. He is a good guy who's been thrown a curve ball with Cali. Cali is what drags this story down for me. Ms. Aicher does an excellent job of showing what vanilla folks think BDSM is all about through Cali's misconceptions.

Cali wants a man which does not exist.

"For someone to take control. To know intuitively what I want, sexually. To drive me crazy without me needing to direct the person. I want a man who will take me to the edge, make me beg for more until I don't think I can take any more, and then give me more." (location 240)

Okay, yes, this is romance and this is what many women dream and fantasy about. I am jaded and this colours my view of the book. I want to slap some sense into her and say, "THERE IS NO SUCH MAN ALIVE!" Because seriously, can you be this lover to a man? What is it with the "me, me, me, me, me"? I feel badly for a lot of these males in the books because the women are so selfishly wanting. Oh, but some may say, these women sacrificed their youth to their husband and raising children, blah blah blah. Irrelevant because in the story, it doesn't show this. Only shows Cali's shallow thoughts.

Basically, at each step of the way, the demon-ization of Cali's ex-husband makes Cali look worse in my eyes. This is a turn off for me. Yes, I get that many will side with Cali and say it was HIS fault for not wanting sex. All I see based on what I've reading is Cali pressuring her ex-husband and never once working it through with him. What is his side of the story. When it is reveal, I'm not surprised. Just saddened.

This story is aptly named...bonds of Trust. This is inherently what is wrong with Cali. She lacks trust. She is unable to develop trust either because when someone trusts her with his heart, she stomps on it in front of everyone. And then she has the gall to blame him before even finding out the facts. All these behaviour of Cali are callous and aggravating. It's a touchy point for me because I have too many male friends and co-workers who have suffered under wives and ex-wives like Cali. So for me, I can't stand Cali and thinks she doesn't deserve Jack. She's a brat who will always want to top from the bottom in the worst of ways.

Now, character aside, the BDSM is not bad. It's an interesting interpretation. It comes across as a novice lifestyler just getting into the dynamics of BDSM. It's following the "book" yet it misses the nuances. Plus, the writing is decent. There is a good beginning, middle and end. The conflict felt a bit forced but it still worked. Overall, it's a series I'm going to give another try.

I can't recommend this story enough! I truly enjoyed every minute of the read. I thought the characters where well developed, believable and without over the top drama. Cali's story was actually so believable that I could see a friend or two of mine being her character. Jake's was a little more of the trope, feels responsible for his parents death, foster care, basic lost soul with 2 close friends that are like brothers. But it all works because the story, IMO, never takes it to the over the top level making Jake a cry baby Dom. There were moments at the end when I knew everything was going to work out with our HEA ending, but I felt stress getting thru the last few chapters.

Overall Rating = 2 Stars
Book Cover / Book Blurb = 4 / 3 = 3.5 Stars
Writer’s Voice = 2 Stars
Character Development = 1 Stars
Story Appreciation = 2 Stars
Worth the Chili = N/A Stars (Read an ARC and not sure what it will sell for)

I really didn't care for this book much. I probably wouldn't have finished it, but it was a buddy read with Stacia, Anna and gang. Nothing about it stood out in the story department. A few things didn't ring true for me, and this, for Michelle, is a deal breaker. BDSM? Not really. This too was missing.

We have an immediate attraction between two people; one a 40 something divorcee who hasn't had good sex is F O R E V E R [if ever], and a Dom for an exclusive fetish club. This is a story told a few times before, so the author better make it good and throw something unique into the mix - right? No. This is also where my consternation starts. Jake, he is a seasoned Dom and he falls into IMMEDIATE attraction with what's her face ... Cali. Jake was just fake to me. He is Dom, but doesn't correct her when she goes about things all wrong. I wouldn't even call this BDSM light.

I just couldn't get past this. The story itself is okay, but once characters lead me one way and then do a 180, I lose interest. I lost interest and was never able to regain it.

A poor rendition of stories I've read that were so much better. If you are going to write a storyline used before, find a niche to make it yours. This just didn't happen here.

The cover isn't bad.

It was just okay, so can't imagine you spending time with this when there are so many other really good books out there begging to be read.

Rating: C+ ... Heat: Sizzling

Warning:

This story has elements of BDSM: D/s, light bondage, voyeurism and exhibitionism, and spanking.

Review:

Cali Reynolds has spent most of her forty-four years enduring an unfulfilling sex life. Never sure what the problem was between her and her ex-husband, Cali assumes the blame lays with her. Looking to change, to actually feel something during sex, she scours the internet to figure out what turns her on. Which is how she discovers BDSM and all it has to offer. Unsure what she wants exactly, but knowing what turns her on in theory, she decides to join The Den—an exclusive sex club owned by three men.

Which is where she runs into Jake, one of the three owners, during the interview process. Usually only a Dom for hire, never taking a permanent sub, he finds he can’t pass Cali on to another Dom. Jake wants to be the one to initiate her into the lifestyle. Which complicates things for him since he is feeling the strains of a five year itch and is ready to move on to someplace new.

The chemistry between Cali and Jake flares immediately. Watching Cali learn what turns her on, and owning her kinks, with Jake there to guide her was super hot and spicy. Jake does a fantastic job easing Cali out of the vanilla she was used to and into the kink she truly craves.

Unfortunately, things kind of unraveled for me around the 72% mark. There was an influx of drama… and hurtful things were said and done… and, more than anything, it felt like more than two months worth of growth for Cali was obliterated in seconds. I was disappointed to see her spine melt away so easily. The story and Cali did redeem themselves, but I just hated to see Cali change for the worst so suddenly.

Bonds of Trust may be a lighter take on BDSM, but it still gives us what we really, really want. There is a scene involving a spanking bench and… Oh, my goodness, yes. Jake can teach me the ways of the lifestyle anytime!

If you enjoy kinky stories and are looking for one that is gentle and not at all extreme, I definitely think you’ll enjoy this!

WOW!! This book was really good. What happens when a divorced woman over 40, who has never had mind blowing sex, decides to take a walk on the wild side?? She gets the nerve to join a BDSM club to satisfy her needs!! There she meets A Dom named Jake. He is a man that knows her needs and desires without her having to explain them. He takes her to the edge of desire and ecstasy and releases her inner sub..this book has lots of SMOKIN HOT sex, AND a good story. Loved it!

I LOVED reading, and experiencing Cali's growth, and how she became more comfortable with her desires, wants, and finally her acceptance that she was a Sub... Jake's Sub.

I LOVED Jake's constant battle within... between his role as a Dom (something he's always been), and allowing Cali to break all his barriers and making it personal. Jake getting jealous when Marcus stepped in had me in knot's, but it was also necessary for Jake to finally realize how important Cali was to him.

Right from the start Cali and Jake had a bond (no pun intended).

Their connection while in a 'Scene' was both intimate, and sensual.

Photobucket

Photobucket

And finally progressing to the point of absolute trust between Dom and Sub. The Dom to fulfill the Sub's needs, and the Sub to trust that the Dom will take control and provide absolute pleasure while in worship and reverence of the Sub's beauty while doing so.

Photobucket

My final thought when I finished this story was that the Author did an AMAZING job of portraying the Dom and Sub roles. It was beautiful, honest, and shameless!

Can't wait to read Kendra & Deklan's story!

Well done Ms. Aicher!!

Cali is forty-four and divorced. She’s also sitting in an office being interviewed, not for a job but to become a member of The Den, the exclusive BDSM Club. It wasn’t that her marriage wasn’t a happy one, it was – it gave her lovely children and her husband was her friend. But there was nothing else. No spark, no sex. Years of feeling undesired, years of feeling ashamed for the way she wanted a man to touch her – the things she wanted done to her... these things all led her here.

Jake is one of the owners of The Den. He may be a Master, but he prefers having clients rather than having a submissive of his own. He’s not the kind of guy that ever stays put or looks forward to a future beyond the present. But when he sees Cali he knows that he has to be the one to gain her submission.

As Jake takes Cali on her journey of sexual awakening, he experiences his own needs being met in a way he never expected. As he breaks Cali down and exposes her true need for submission and her need to feel a man’s touch it wakes up something in him that he never knew existed. His need to claim.

Just as Cali begins to embrace the relationship she has formed with Jake, an event occurs that brings back all those feelings of shame for her desire. Jake finally let someone in, he was ready to do the one thing he was sure he would never do; and in one moment everything crashes down. These two both came so far, both teaching one another about intimacy, trust and love; all these things came easily now they both must fight their own doubt to regain it all.

I’ve sat on this series for a while and wasn’t sure what to expect from it. I figured this would be just another BDSM story where the D/s fall in love and all is cured... but I was not expecting her story. Cali’s story was heartbreaking and in the moments when she was able to voice her true feelings; being broken down in a way to finally admit the things she never gave a voice to before, was beautiful.

Although this is a BDSM romance, the whole D/s was done in a subdued way. I never felt like I was reading something that was just filled with kink for the sake of kink. The story really fell to the forefront of this and the erotic nature of the scenes were done in a way that kept it steamy, but allowed the story to really remain the focus.

Since their story ends with book one of this series, I would have liked a bit more story on Jake – his past is touched on briefly but not elaborated on. He seems to be the more unsettled out of the three men, so I was expecting more a holy shit moment when it was revealed.

The other characters remained cloaked enough to offer some intrigue but I did not find myself really caring about anyone outside of the bubble of Jake & Cali. I usually love it when I can connect with all of the characters of the story, but in this case I really didn’t need it. I am looking forward to continuing this series, and love that these are companion novels rather than continued character novels.

This is a fabulous "light" BDSM Adult Romance. I started this book last night and finished it in about 4 hours... I didn't want to stop reading... The story flowed from page to page. Yes, the setting is a typical BDSM club as many book addressing the BDSM lifestyle do BUT the emotions run so high in this book that being in a "club" is the last thing you're thinking about. You're more in tuned to what the characters need and what they're feeling to care where they are and what's going on around them.

I absolutely LOVED the characters. At first, I thought it was going to be uncomfortable for me to read from the perspective of a character who is almost 20 years older than I am; however, her age was the farthest thing on my mind. Lynda writes from a perspective where you connect with Cali simply because she's a woman with the most basic needs - to be touched and overcome insecurities. She main reason she harbors these insecurities is the fact that her ex-husband didn't touch her. Their marriage had no sexual facet to it. Cali went 7 years without being touched, caressed, and loved by a man. After pushing for sex and being turned away by her husband, eventually she just gave up. She wants a man who will take control for once so she can give it up but still get the release she needs. I felt proud of Cali for going after what she was curious about and wanted to pat her on the back for doing a little research beforehand. Then you have Nick... *swoon*.... the damaged Dom with a past that haunts him. Typical you say - maybe, BUT Nick is so focused and enthralled by Cali that he's a character you automatically want to add to your "fictional boyfriend" category. He has his own past that haunts him which causes him to want to run away every few years and reestablish himself.

As a reader, I always want the best for the characters I'm reading about... I'm a sucker for a happy ending... so I was rooting for Nick & Cali the entire time. The ups and downs keep you on your toes. There's a twist towards the end that completely shocked me but left me going "Oooohhhh Okay... no wonder!"

This story has hot sex scenes that aren't really what I consider hardcore BDSM. It's lighter than most books I've read but no less hot. They're more emotional and raw... close to kinky love making really... I loved it. I felt like I was Cali - trying to overcome my emotional boundaries and learn that it wasn't my fault...

For $1.99 = PRE-ORDER this book NOW!!! It's definitely worth it!

Oh man, I just enjoyed the heck out of this one. So many of the books I have read recently have been filled with so much angst, drama, and crazy plot twists. And while I'm not going to deny that I certainly enjoy that, it was so nice to get back to a book that was simply about two characters falling in love.

Ok, given that this is all set in an exclusive BDSM club, I guess my definition of "simply" has probably been skewed a bit. I just loved both Cali and Jake. Cali is a forty-something divorcee, with grown children, who for the first time in her life is trying to make *herself* happy. I saw so many pieces of myself, and so many of my close friends in this character, that I was impossible for me not to relate to her. I loved her to pieces, and empathized with every emotion she had on her journey of self discovery.

Oh, and Jake. Seriously, he was just too freaking perfect. He knew that Cali was different from the beginning, and even though he fought it for his own reasons, he was the one that had faith in their relationship. He was that perfect mixture of possessive caretaker that never fails to make me swoon.

"How do you want me?" He almost dropped to his knees at her questions. He tossed the fleece aside and stalked across the room to draw her into a crushing embrace. "I want you beneath me. On top of me. Around me. I want to fuck you until we both collapse from exhaustion. And then - " he skimmed his knuckles over her cheek, "I want you beside me forever."

This one left me with a huge smile on my face. Totally recommend it for anyone who is ok with light BDSM.

I have just recently begun reading what I don't know how to describe but as mild BDSM books. Not sure if that is even a correct description. These mild BDSM books have to involve a love story and there can be no degradation. I am not sure what got me into this genre,...maybe 50 Shades. Not sure and don't remember.

I read a excellent review on this book(by a GR friend) and had to check it and so glad I did.

A 44 year old woman, Cali after being in a loveless, non-physical 22 year old marriage divorces her husband and decides that she is going to open her mind to a new sex experience. She joins an exclusive BDSM club, known as The Den where she meets Dom, Jake. The book covers their story and it had me hooked from page 1. There were scenes that left me a little "Oh" like when they played a Scene in front of a crowd, but it was all okay. Like I said I am very new to this genre.

I liked this author's writing style and will definitely pick up other books by her.

Did I skim? No
Would I recommend? Yes
Was I looking forward to reading this book when I had to stop? Yes.

The story and sex scenes were good. However, I found Jake to be a weak Dom; he was too soft on Cali. And I've not read of a Dom who wants to be called by his first name in a scene??

I’ve enjoyed the story very much. For the most part it’s gives a rather accurate description of D/s dynamics. After the first scene and after the collaring more aftercare should and would have been given in real life in a proper BDSM environment.
What I appreciate about the story is that it’s about 40+ people with normal jobs, bank accounts and lives. The have friends, they have a living to make and they have children.

Sadly I wasn’t impressed by the narrating. The voice of Cali was to young and insecure for her IMO. It’s always hard for a female narrator to impersonate a male character convincing, and miss Cauldwell is no exception, so I wasn’t very happy with Jake as well.
Her narrating voice is fine and so were some of the side characters, but sadly not the main characters.

This book is well written and would probably earn 5-stars from me if I hadn’t already read what feels like thousands of books with the exact same storyline. I would recommend this for a BDSM newbies, someone who hasn’t already read about BDSM romance. However, if your like me and have read quite a bit of this genre, don’t expect to find anything extraordinary or unique in this book.

Cali is getting over a failed divorce when she realizes that she needed more than a normal relationship with a man. She applied to be a submissive in a club in her town. She did not know what she was actually looking for but knew that the club was a place for her to start looking. She did not know what she was going to end up with, but trusted herself enough to know that she needed the club in her life. However, she did not know that in looking for a Dom she would also find herself and love.
Jake is one of the three owners of a well-known BDSM club. He has been a Dom for as long as he can remember. It is well known in the club community that he does not take on subs. He does help train them and he does do scenes with them but he does not have one of his own. That was until one of the other owners of the club asked him to do an interview of a potential member. He did not know that by doing the interview, his whole world would change. He fell in love.
They started to have feelings for each other. As the relationship of Dom and sub evolved between them, their feelings for each other evolved as well. It moved so fast, their love and trust for each other. Jake made a public display on his feelings for Cali. However something or someone neither one of them expected happened. Cali began to doubt her feelings and her trust in Jake and publically humiliated him. Jake then packed his bags and did what he does best when he gets hurt, he ran.
It took a long time for Jake to realize that he could not live without Cali. It took less time for Cali to realize that she only wanted one person and she knew that she might not see him again. And she knew that it was all her fault for it.
Jake surprised her and apologized. Cali then apologized to him in return. They both finally confessed that they loved each other and wanted to be together. They then fell back into the routine that they had before the mix up. They finally realized that they loved each other enough to forgive each other and move forward with both their D/s relationship and their loving one.
Throughout the whole book, the chemistry between Jake and Cali was smoking. You knew from the very beginning that they were meant to be together. The very first scene that they did together was one of the best ones that I have read. As I continued to read the book, the better the scenes between them were. Which was based on how the characters evolved and trusted each other as they got to know one another.
From the very first page I fell in love with the book. It is a page turner. It is the type of book that you cannot put down until it is finished. You need to know what happens next.
I love how the author wrote this book. It completely sucked you in and made you feel like you were actually in the scenes with them. Her descriptions were one of the best that I have read. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

5000 freaking stars! YAY!!!!! This book was so good and it gave me all the warm and fuzzies inside!

I came across this book somewhat randomly via my recommendations the other day. I had never heard of the author but I knew of the publisher because I follow them on twitter. So I figured what the heck and hit the purchase button on my Nook. Note: this is part of a series, but there is no cliffhanger. I believe each book follows a different couple. These are my fave kind of series.

I am so flipping thrilled that I bought this book. This book has everything. It's sweet yet hot, sexy and erotic, with a heaping helping of BDSM (nothing extreme) with a dash of angst and a OHMIGOD moment that had me nearly in tears. TEARS! But I will get to that in a moment.

Let's talk about Cali. I loved her. She was strong but so scared of her submissive side. For much of the book she wanted to hide that part of herself but Jake, god Jake, he was so patient and amazing and loving and just...*sighs* He's just dreamy. But the scene...the scene that very well nearly stopped my freaking heart from beating?! Lynda Aicher I could barely stand it! I was crushed and I had to put the book down so I could get myself together. I made dinner but I kept staring at my Nook like any minute it was going to jump off the counter and smack me in the face. I had to know. I wanted to KNOW. And it was taunting me. It was so close! But people had to eat. And I had to get my shit together. Which I did. Finally.

Once I ate and was able to breathe again I finished the last 60 odd pages. Thank you Ms. Aicher for making it all better. It was a close one though. You had me going there for a minute and I really thought things were not going to end well. Very tricksy of you. ;)

Bottom line: I love this book. I love this author. And I am Kermit flailing all over the place since the second book will be out soon. If I could some awesome gif review with lots of pictures and such I would. Hell I wish I was smart enough to make a book trailer for it with a musical background. (I'm thinking -and this may be corny but- Boyz II Men's I'll Make Love to You is totally in my head when I finished this). People, listen to me. This book is THAT good! There are not many writers of BDSM romances that are really really good at combining the erotic elements with a story. Cherise Sinclair can do it. So can Kallypso Masters. I can add a third to this short list now.

*This book was a self-purchase and I was not in any way compensated for, or even asked, to review this book. All opinions are my own*

The first few chapters of the book had me almost tossing this it aside to read something better but after reading another chapter about a woman who has never been in the BDSM lifestyle and only knows a small bit cuz of the info on the net, I slowly got pulled back in with the help of Edith, the old lady with a big personality. She’s one of Cali’s neighbors. The engagement party for one of their neighbors at the condo Cali lives in reunites Cali and her Dom from a few nights back. Unbeknownst to Edith, she is reintroduces Cali to Jake. They've already met. Not in the innocent setting they are in but in a less clothes and a lot kinkier setting.

Cali is over 40 and has separated from a husband of 20+ years. No one understands the break, not her kids, her family or friends. Peter was perfect. They were a perfect family.

But Cali wasn’t happy and she was very lonely and she finally stood up for what she wanted and made the decision to let the façade of happiness dissipate. No more would she be the soccer mom or the Suzy home maker. She wanted more for herself and with the kids grown and out of the house she could do it.
She did her research, article by article she read about the BDSM lifestyle. She knew what she wanted, to be a sub and only that. But did she really know what she was walking into?

Jake was restless. It was time to move on. The business he shared with Seth and Deklan at The Den was going great but the itch for him to move on was pulling at him. In comes the newbie and that restlessness ceases to a screeching halt and he’s left dumbfounded. He was only going to evaluate her, to see if she was meant for this lifestyle but instead he falls hard and fast for Cali.

Cali still has skeletons in her closet and when those bones start to peek their way out she cant help but scream her safe word. She may have opened herself to the freedom that Jake offered but inside she was still the scared woman who was never shown how beautiful and desirable she was.

They both go beyond what they’ve always thought was the way of life and meet each other halfway to find the happiness they’ve always searched for.

I have to say that the BDSM play and the sex was just a filler for me. The relationship between Jake and Cali and them finding love was definitely the main attraction.

4 stars!

Bonds of Trust is the first book by Lynda Aicher that I have read, and I have to say I got so much more than I was expecting!! This is a beautiful story of a woman discovering her true self through her learning of submitting to the right man, and a man’s life taking on a whole new meaning with this submissive he can’t hand over to any Dom.

Cali Reynolds comes to the Den to finally get someone to touch her, and to live out her darkest fantasies of having a man submitting. She has no idea how to go about doing that, but is fighting all her fears of what would happen if peeps found out about her needs for submission. She spent way too many years in a passionless marriage, and is determined to have passion in her life now.

Jake McCallister is one of the three owners of the most exclusive sex club in town, and he thinks that Cali has come to it for the wrong reasons. But when he interviews her, he is intrigued so much by her that he can’t let one of the other Doms helper with finding that fulfillment that she is searching for. He is totally unprepared for the feelings she brings out in him, and he fights them tooth and nail.

Cali is as shocked as Jake by the feelings he brings out in her, and she vows not to go back. But when she runs into Jake at a party at her apartment complex, he convinces her to come back. Jake doesn’t want anyone touching her but him, but is he ready to make her his officially? Can Cali look past her conservative views to allow him to make her his??

These two are so great!!! I fell for both of them!! This level of BDSM is the level that gets my inner submissive waking up!! I think I have a new book Dom to add to fantasy harem. I love Doms like Jake that don’t try to squish their sub’s fiery personalities. They are also quite smoking hot!! Be careful your e-reader may fog up with a few of these scenes! I hope y’all like it as much as I have!!

Bonds of trust - Lynda Aicher

This ebook is on Amazon right now for $2!! Go go buy it now it will be money well spent!!

Cali is at a cross roads in her life she's just ended her 20 plus year marriage to a man who she was sexually incompatible with. With grown kids is it even possible she can go after what she wants, her deepest fantasies?l

Jake is the owner of the most exclusive Dom/Sub club on the scene right now. Only people who are screened and interviewed can be members. After 5 years at The Den he's ready to move on, never staying in one place to long nobody has even made him want to stay until Cali graces his office... With the body of a woman half her age and all that vulnerability in her eyes he can't help but be intrigued by her.

I loved this story and I got so much more out of it then I thought I ever would. This isn't just about a midlife crisis or sex. This is about a woman finally having the courage to go after what she wants. I was totally impressed with the authors writing when it came to her characters. Cali is at the age where it could be considered that she's a cougar but it wasn't portrayed that way. She was sexy but vulnerable, classy and devoted but able to dream I liked her a lot.

Jake seen in Cali something that he hadn't seen in anybody else. Even though he was the Dom they both held power in the relationship. I learnt a lot.. sometimes the sub is seen as weak, in this relationship it wasn't the case. They both needed something in the roles they played. Jake needed Cali as much as she needed him..Running from his past and fears of his own it was Cali that made him finally stop and think of a future.

There chemistry was dynamite and sensual and at times tender and romantic, I loved seeing both sides of the coin and really enjoyed this read it was a fast page turner and I can't wait for book 2 in the series.

This is definitely an adult book! If you are like me and the multitude of other readers who devoured Fifty Shades and wanted more, this needs to be on your what to read after Fifty Shades list.

Cali Reynolds has decided to finally get some satisfaction. She's looking for something and someone to fulfill her needs. She finds that and more when she goes to The Den. The problem is one time isn't near enough and she's embarrassed about acting on those types of desires in the light of day. She's afraid of what people will think of her if they find out.

She is indecisive at first about Jake and acting on her desire for him. When she finally makes a decision, something unforeseen happens and they have words. You'll have to read it yourself to find out if they have a HEA.

I found Bonds of Trust to be a steamy story that I couldn't walk away from. I really enjoyed it and I am soooo looking forward to reading the next book in this series, Bonds of Need.

Bonds of Trust wasn't just about sex. There were many issues that would've been resolved if Cali and her ex-husband had communicated. That is so true in any type of relationship, communication is the key! This book also shows how, quite often, we are our own worst enemy and we second guess ourselves and self sabotage things.

This book had steamy adult scenes with some mild BDSM and romance. If you like Fifty Shades of Grey you should give this a try.

I received a review copy from the publisher for review through Netgalley.

You can pre-order a copy of Bonds of Trust from Amazon for only $1.99!

It's due out at the end of November from Carina Press.

I received this book as an ARC for review. This is one of those books that draws you in and keeps you there for the whole story.

Cali Reynolds is a 44 year old divorcee who is searching for something. She is hoping that she will find it at The Den, the Twin Cities most exclusive BDSM club. Her marriage fell apart since her husband seemed to have no interest in sex. On the first night at the club, newbies are usually paired with a Dom that helps them explore the club and become acclimated. The Den is owned by three “brothers.” Jake, Deklan, and Seth all share in the responsibilites of the club. Seth has done the interviews for Cali and asks Jake to do a second interview with her. Jake is not sure he really wants to break in a newbie but he goes to meet her anyway. He is floored by the sensual innocence that Cali exhibits and decides to spend the evening as her Dom.

Her evening with Jake is everything sexual that Cali has been looking for her entire adult life. Jake is amazed at the feelings she brings out in him and the breathtakingly sensual submissive side she is exhibiting.

Her submission to Jake is everything that he has ever craved in a Sub and he is honored by her gift to him. His dominance of her is what Cali has always craved. This book wraps a sensual spell around the world of BDSM and draws you in, and leaves you longing to explore more.

This was the first book that I have read by Lynda Aicher and I am thrilled to have a new author to add to my must read list. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Cali and Jake. Cali, 44, mother of two (son 21, daughter 19), accountant/bookkeeper, divorcee that has never experienced good sex. Jake, 35, partner in The Den (BDSM club), always leaves before any bonds can be made other than the two friends he's had since he was younger (the other two partners in The Den). Cali finally gets up the nerve to go check out The Den because she believes she may be a submissive but since her sexual experience is limited and not very good she really doesn't know what she wants or needs so Seth decides after interviewing her that he wants Jake to help him place her with a Dom that they think would be able to help her find what she is looking for, only after one look at her Jake doesn't want anyone else touching her so he will be the one to Dominate her. And Dominate her he does, holy cow there were times that I was so pulled in that I felt like I was a fly on the wall watching it all go down. HOT does not do this book justice...SCORCHING is more like it! I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

I really enjoyed this. It was a relief to read a book about BDSM without the Dom being a filthy rich CEO, or an evil, power-tripping MoFo with an axe to grind against women. Jake is a Dom with no excuses or apologies but is experiencing a bit burnt out. He's missing something in his life, but isn't sure what that is until he meets the lovely and sub-curious Cali, ex-wife of a man who wanted nothing to do with her in bed. Together they explore her desires and we the reader get a front row seat to a healthy D/s relationship. As expected, they bump up against their fears and shame in a pretty spectacular fashion, but love eventually prevails as it should.

This is a NetGalley ARC read.

WOW! An incredibly touching story of self-discovery, personal growth, love, and let’s not forget the steamy sex! It is emotionally connecting from the beginning to the end, impossible to put down, and will have you craving for the next book.

Cali is an incredibly brave and strong woman to take that first step, and alone no less. Her strength throughout her breakdown and growth was truly inspiring...

I'm a fan of BDSM type stories - especially the inexperienced who doesn't know what they're after.

My thoughts while reading;

11.0% “He was a professional Dom. Contracts only. He didn’t do possessiveness or ownership.
Yet his gut tightened at the mere thought of keeping Cali to himself. Of her submitting to only his commands. There was something within her clawing to be free. And damn if he would let anyone else discover it.”

12.0% “The outright lust and curiosity pooling in the green depths had him backing her against the wall, his lips hovering just inches from hers. Her eyes widened, her mouth parting in shock, but she didn’t fight him.
Fuck. Where the hell was his control?”

“She was going to kill him. And she didn’t even recognize the power she had already. She was a heady mix of innocence and desire, timid and strong.”

15.0% “Jake clenched his free hand behind his back, the hidden action his only break in the calm, controlled facade he displayed. The desire to do exactly as she asked was so overwhelming it took everything in him to hold himself still.”

16.0% “Her lips were as soft as they looked and, for the first time in years, he wanted more.”

17.0% “You have beautiful skin.” His hands came up to push the bra straps down her arms until the garment landed on the floor next to her shirt. Her nipples were already tight with desire, the physical ache for touch boarding on unbearable. “Before the night’s done, I will touch every inch of you.”

18.0% “Which one did she want? One was distant, less emotional. The other could break her. But there was really no choice. It was all or nothing, and she wanted it all.”

21.0% “Yes, Cali,” Jake confirmed. “I’m going to fuck you.”
Her body fired once again at his words. “Yes,” she panted. “Please. Fuck me, Jake.”
Who was this person begging for sex? Wanting more of everything he’d given her? She wasn’t certain, but right then—in that moment—she loved her.”

“She trusted him enough to give him everything.
And it turned him on until his dick throbbed with the need for release. Damn. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d been so hard.

“Control. He was supposed to be in control, but he felt anything but that. The blindfold had been as much for him as her. He didn’t want her to see how she was affecting him. Didn’t think he could keep his emotions from showing.”

22.0% “Trust me to fuck you better than you’ve ever been fucked. To give you everything you’ve ever wanted out of sex. And then more.”

“Move, Jake,” she begged. “God, please, please move.” I'm loving Jake!!"

25.0% “A deep, guttural grunt echoed in her ear as Jake increased the pace, his rhythm becoming harder, more urgent. “Cali,” he groaned. The hint of desperation in the single word eased into her like a small river of hope.”

“Cali had come to the club seeking a Dom, searching for an experience, and he’d given her that. Simple as that.
Fuck. It wasn’t that simple and he knew it.
Everything about her was different."

42.0% “Yes, sir.”
“Jake.”
“What?” Her mind tried to process what he meant.
“Yes, Jake,” he said.
Her thoughts were too jumbled to understand the difference, but she repeated his command. “Yes, Jake.”
She swore she heard him growl, but then all her focus went to the sharp smack of his hand against her tender flesh.”

44.0% “With her he experienced something besides power. For the first time ever, he felt the intimacy on a level that went deeper than base trust. There was a connection that threatened every emotional wall he’d ever constructed. But with Cali in his arms, in his control, he felt a vague and foreign sense of peace.”

45.0% “He responded to her aggression with instant arousal. His dick throbbed beneath his pants, hard and aching for release. In her.
Cali wasn’t just a client.
In truth, she hadn’t been since he first heard his name roll off her lips. Not sir, but Jake”

“She was the only one in all his years in the BDSM world who had ever used his name during a Scene. For the first time ever, this was personal.”

“Trust me,” he whispered against her lips. “You belong to me.” He tensed, waiting for her answer. Never had one word been so important in his life.
But then, he had never wanted anyone as badly as he wanted her.”
Totally in love with Jake now! :)

47.0% “Please, Jake,” she remembered to ask. “I need to come.”
He made a rough, harsh sound that was close to a possessive growl. He thrust again, harder and deeper as he ground his hips into her. He grabbed her hair and watched her. “Come for me, Cali.”

“He pulled her closer until his lips were just a breath away. “This is an exclusive arrangement.”

50.0% “Yet here she was. Here he was.
And fuck, but she felt so right. Here.
His sub.
Cali Reynolds belonged to him.”

52.0% “Regardless of what rest of the world might think of her. She needed to be Jake’s sub.
If only to heal the chilling ache that filled her heart.”

53.0% “What do you mean, your first sub? I assumed you’ve taken lots.”
“Clients, yes. My own submissive, no.” He lowered his voice. “You are the first.”

“He took that moment to reinforce his place in her life. He claimed her mouth in a fierce, almost violent kiss of possession. His body raged with the need to keep her close while his mind fought against what he was doing.”
Okay now totally in love with Jake!"

55.0% “With everything she’d given up since the divorce, this was one thing she couldn’t force herself to let go. Jake was hers. Being his sub was about her. For her.”

57.0% “Then what was he doing with her? The thought of letting her go, of letting another Dom touch her, spiked his anger in a completely irrational way.
She belonged to him.”

61.0% “You are gorgeous, Cali. Beautiful. Giving.” He was so close she could almost sink into him. Almost. “Anyone who could not see that, not appreciate that, is a fool. If you don’t believe me, then believe them.”

63.0% “She lifted her head to find Jake, but his focus was locked on the other man. His lips were thinned in a grimace, his eyes smoldering with what seemed like rage. His arms were crossed tightly against his chest, his stance unbending. He appeared anything but pleased.
“Stop.”

“You’re okay babe. I’ve got you.”
He got her. In more way than anyone else ever had.”

64.0% "He looked away, his focus on his sub. His sub. Cali was more than just his sub. He’d proven that tonight. Exactly the opposite of what he’d set out to do. Fuck. He was so incredibly fucked.
Could he do it? Could he take the risk and do what his heart so strangely and desperately wanted him to do? He’d had a collar made on a fool’s whim, one he hadn’t planned on fulfilling. But after tonight, after Marcus...fuck."

“Denial of his own needs was all a part of being a Dom. Right now his submissive needed his care, not his dick.”

66.0% “What had started out as a “club only” thing had expanded to form the semblance of a relationship for her. He was a vital part of her life. Was it possible for him to be a part of her whole life? Did he want to be?”

68.0% “Then she felt the metal against her neck, the links warm and firm as they pressed into her flesh. His knuckles brushed her skin as he fixed the clasp. Then his fingers circled her neck, outlining the collar in a possessive stroke.
His declaration to the world—she belonged to him.”

“Jake had just publicly claimed her.”

“But instead of restrictive, the collar was... comforting"

69.0% “Green,” she managed to whisper.
He inhaled a long breath, as if he’d been uncertain of her response and was now absorbing her answer. His eyes closed for a moment, only to reopen with his exhale. “You honor me,” he said, his voice deep and rough like course sandpaper that prickled over her nerve endings, sending a shiver of pleasure down her spine.”

“Jake owned her, body and soul, and she was helpless against it. Somewhere along the way, between the bondage, the spankings and the whips, she’d fallen in love with the compassion, the tenderness and the complete adoration he showed her.
She had fallen in love with Jake.”

“She owned him. Whether she knew it or not. He was as much a slave to her—to what she gave him—as she was to him.”

72.0% “I love you, Cali. I would never hurt you like this.”
Oh no! no no no! Cali don't - you and Jake are about to break my heart!!!!!!"

75.0% “Can I have her too?”
Like that, Jake was in Seth’s face, his hand curled around the front of the man’s shirt. “No one touches her but me.”
Seth appraised him, his brown eyes nailing Jake with challenge. “You’re leaving. She’s a free agent if you’re not here.”
“The hell she is. She belongs to me.”
“Not if you run.”

88.0% “What do you want, Ms. Reynolds?”
“Cali,” she said softly. “Call me Cali. And I want Jake back. I want what he offered and more. I want...” She couldn’t finish because it would kill her to say it and never get it.”"

89.0% “She resolved right then that it would make it to her neck. That she would come back every weekend until Jake returned.
She wasn’t giving up on him.
On them.
On what they had and all they could still have.
He was her Dom and damn it, she belonged to him.”

92.0% “He couldn’t do it. He couldn’t go through with the Scene.
Cali was the only sub he wanted.
To finish this Scene would be equal to cheating on her. Not a true statement for all Doms, but for him—with Cali—that was exactly how he felt.”

94.0% “What do you want now?” His voice was hoarse, his hands fisting on the back of her head.
“You, Jake. I want you.”

“And I want you. Not as a possession, but as my lover. My friend. My other half. I want you in my life. What do I have to do to get that?”

“Here was her big, demanding Dom asking her what she wanted. Almost begging her to take him back. After she’d shunned him. How was this possible?"

95.0% “How do you want me?”
He almost dropped to his knees at her question. He tossed the fleece aside and stalked across the room to draw her into a crushing embrace. “I want you beneath me. On top of me. Around me. I want to fuck you until we both collapse from exhaustion. And then—” he skimmed his knuckles over her cheek, “—I want you beside me forever.”

“I want it all. I need you. And I’ve accepted I need that side of you too. Not outside of your world, but in it. I don’t know if I’ll ever be comfortable with a big public Scene again. But I won’t ask you to leave what is so much a part of you. I love being controlled by you. Being your submissive. I won’t deny that anymore. I kept the chain, hoping someday you’d come back and put it on my neck. Where it belongs"

“Jake simply reacted. It was like a caged animal had been set loose in him. He plundered her mouth, his arms crushing her to him. She was hot, open and accepting. His cock throbbed beneath his jeans as it rubbed against her stomach. Then her hand was there, stroking him over the material.
It wasn’t enough.”

96.0% “Suck me, Cali.” He rubbed his hands through her silky hair. “I want to feel your hot mouth on me. Sucking me until I can’t take it. Then I want you to ride me.”

“Cali.” Her name came out as a mix between a plea and a command. One hand fisted in her hair, the other clenched a handful of sheets.
She sucked, her mouth moving up his shaft until her tongue swirled and prodded at the opening on the tip. Fuck. She was going to kill him.”
