Maggie Lee's dedication to her family knows no limits.
Even though her life is in chaos, she'll take any chance to repair her fractured family.
All she has do is: Get out of the loony bin Eliminate the killer who’s hunting her sister Make sure her family doesn’t go off the rails (yup, this one’s the toughest)
Thankfully she’s got the help of an ex-lover, a conman, and a sexy sailor, along with her psychic friend, her loyal, but bickering, pets, and her favorite mob boss.
If only she could rely on them to help her stop the man who wants her sister dead. With two hitmen already killed for going after him, Maggie could use all the help she can get.
Maggie’s skills (and sanity) are put to the test and the stakes have never been higher.
I loved this book. I am always sorry when these books end. When I read them I am totally in Maggie's world. This was one of the most complex books of the series yet. There is so much going on. How many people want Maggie dead? Too many. Maggie goes heart first into dangerous situations to try to protect those she loves. I am worried that she is pushing Angel away which is not good. He is a nice guy. This book focuses on the new enemy Cyril Redcote that hates Maggie and her family and is threatening to Darlene. There is a new talking animal in this book which is very cool. He helps Maggie and is a good addition to the menagerie. Maggie still gets nothing when she tries to find out about her brother. Susan and Griswold make some decisions. Maggie singlehandedly practically saves various members of her family. A must read. I am totally in love with this series. Received this as an ARC.
Another winner in the Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman series! If you like humor and mystery combined with a side of paranormal, you will love this book. The author has found a way to make the oddball characters and talking animals seem normal.
In this book, Maggie (the hitwoman) is tasked with killing someone to protect her family. Along the way she learns some painful family truths and starts out locked in a psych ward. She ends up moving from one crisis to another and finds herself depending on others to simply survive. Some of the eclectic characters include a mafia boss, a demanding woman from a secret organization, and Patrick, a police detective (and murder mentor). Surprisingly, they all try to help her. What follows is is funny mystery that will make you laugh out loud while still delivering some poignant moments.
This is a stand alone novel, however you will enjoy it so much more if you've read the prior books.
Yep. The saga continues. And I continue to be enchanted with these characters. I almost gave 4 stars as the plot is getting difficult to follow but decided the new character, Mike, saved the day. I really enjoy the antics of the different animals and was relieved to have this one full of them. They make me smile.
Angel needs to step up his game!
And Armani's predictions are coming fast and furious now. She cracks me up.
It keeps getting better and better. I like all the twists and turns in Maggie's life. I can always find something that makes me laugh on each installment. Looking forward to the next one.
DinDin isn’t the only bird brain Maggie can talk to. Apparently there are mobster crows. Maggie now has to feed Mike the Mooch for a month. Oh and she might have had a few family reunions.
I absolutely love this series and am enjoying reading them one after another. They are light reading, and it takes about two hours to finish each book. The characters are brilliant, especially Dee Dee, who is my absolute favourite.
This has been a real adventure and I enjoyed the characters. Maggie is trying to navigate between family and her obligations. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
I blame it all on JB...I am addicted to the Hitwoman series! Maggie takes on more dangers and evil people in a week than anyone should know in a lifetime! Often going in to rescue a family member or retrieve something of vital importance, Maggie has no plan or backup. No back up except her trusty pets-Godzilla (the lizard who you can hear squeak from inside her bra), Pis (her one eyed cat who has more brains than most people), and Dee Dee (her deliciously loyal and speech impaired doberman). Maggie is so fiercely loyal to her family that she plunges into situations (or stumbles into them) unprepared and seemingly fearless. She does have loyal friends who are there to rescue her when needed, a loving but somewhat eccentric family, and and odd assortment of law-men. It is a wonderful mix of characters that is interspersed with villains, a mother in "the nut house" (Maggie's words-not mine), a father on the lam/not on the lam/on the lam/not on the lam-well you get the picture. All of these people mixed with on-going and new mysteries add up to a delicious read! My only complaint? The book is over way too fast! Fortunately JB seems to be a fast writer, and we can all look forward to the next book in the series soon (Fingers crossed-knock on wood!) :) As wonderful and fun to read that this book is, make sure you have read the other books in the series in order-otherwise you are going to be confused and frustrated trying to figure out Maggie and her family! Honestly, this is one series you won't want to miss. The combination of humor and loyalty and mysteries is unbeatable!
15 books in and still hilariously funny. Maggie is back and better than ever, well better than normal for Maggie. Trouble really does find her everywhere, who would think visiting her Mother in the loony bin (as maggie calls it) would be dangerous, or driving down a street or having a backyard family party and the list goes on and on, it truly is amazing how trouble finds Maggie. I keep waiting for someone to book Maggie the room next door to her mother...lol I think Aunt Susan and Zeke are close to doing it hahahaha. I love how Maggie is evolving and maturing as a character, she continually surprises me, every time I think she is going to blow her top or lose her shit all together, she takes a different tact, a better path and even though she still get's into a lot of trouble it's all in the name of Family and we all know Maggie is totally, completely devoted to her family and she will do absolutely anything and everything for them.
This is a great book; this is the fifthteenth book in the Confessions of a Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman series by J.B. Lynn. I was so excited to read this book so I could find out what Maggie can get herself into next. Maggie is a very lucky hitwoman thank goodness or she wouldn’t have a job. She also gets some help from her pets who she can understand and talk to. Her job is to eliminate the killer who is hunting her sister and family. This book has a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
The Hitwoman Under Pressure by J.B. Lynn was another wonderful and wacky ride with Maggie Lee as she runs from one crisis to the next. One of the best things about Ms. Lynn's books is the humor mixed with poignant moments as Maggie is doing her best to keep her family safe. Ms. Lynn has also added a new character to the animal menagerie that Maggie can rely on to help her win against the bad guys. I liked him and best of all, he made Katie laugh and Maggie smile. A win in my book. Fast paced plot, Angel and his loving support, Maggie's crazy family and the animals all led me down the path of non-stop reading until I finished the book. I love this series and feel blessed to have been gifted an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This was a read in one sitting book for me. If that isn't a endorsement for a book i don't know what is. Maggie Lee is always having a crazy and full day with a lot of interesting characters in her life. Those would include animals who can talk to her. I don't know what to say to describe one of these books except to say it's a full whirlwind of laughs and drama and crazy things happening and hot guys. Exciting from page one to finish. It's so unpredictable and there is just no way to know where the author is going. These books read fast because they are so good and fast moving. Don't want to have to think to hard and want to just enjoy a book with a smile? This series is for you. Hate to see it this book end and can't wait to see what Maggie gets into next.
Maggie is loyal to her family even when it gets her into trouble. Every one of these books is a winner. I love the premise, a hit woman who has never actually killed anyone yet her targets die. How lucky can you be if the mad guy chasing you just happens to miss and kill the target you are supposed to kill? These books are a clever story about families, friends, and potential romantic interests BUT nothing ever seems to work out. Oh well, in this one she acquires another helper. Read it and laugh. You'll love the story by itself but to really enjoy it, you need the background of how Maggie came into her question all profession and just how did the red headed detective play a role? Thanks J.B. For your humor.
Maggie's in for a wild ride in this latest Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman novel. So much is going on that you might not want to blink or you'll miss something important. Kinda keeps you on the edge of your seat, turning pages, and not wanting to put the book down for things like food and personal breaks. All my favorite characters were there, plus a new character who was a big hit with me. Watch for Mike the Mooch - he's a hoot. I can't wait to see what Ms. Lynn has in store for Maggie next!
JB Lynn does it again! Non-stop action, so many moments fraught with tension, sarcasm, & humor! All my oddball favorites are back, & one new one, who I hope hangs around for a while! Poor Maggie, saying she's under pressure this time around is like saying water is wet. She gets hit from all sides, but what doesn't kill her, definitely makes her stronger than ever. Love, love, love this series & this book is the absolute best (so far!!)
Maggie’s life is never dull, which makes for a fun book. Could Maggie’s day get any worse? To begin with she is trapped in her mother’s room (along with her mother) at the Looney Bin (mental institution) with Mr. D and his bodyguard Gino, Zeke and Godzilla (the lizard). Well, yes indeed, her day could get much, much worse. You won’t want to miss any of Maggie’s antics along with her family and pets. This book doesn’t disappoint!
Maggie & pets are trying to help Darlene and her family stay safe while keeping them a secret. Things are going awry with Vinnie still trying to kill Maggie and Redcoat being after her family. Angel & Zeke seem to be in competition with each other while Armani has more freaky messages. Maggie acquires another animal with surprising results. Trying to dodge death and keep her family and friends safe Maggie steps it up in this fast paced story.
J. B. Lynn has done it again! Once again, she's had me rolling in laughter or holding back tears. Maggie is back and is up to her eyeballs in drama. Any scene with God is my favorite. His quick wit & sarcasm will charm you. This is one of my favorite series that I one click without even thinking. Never disappointing!
Fast paced , laugh out loud funny, leaves you wanting more . I can't wait for the next installment. Love the addition of Mike and I hope he returns in the next book.
Love love love Maggie and her motley crew. This book was just as awesome as the rest. Everything is finally starting to fall into place for Maggie and her family. Can't wait til the next book to find out what Teresa left for her.
I enjoyed this book much more than her previous one & I especially loved (& laughed at) the car chase with all the animals riding shotgun. I also liked the Mooch's final "gift" to Maggie. However, I still wish she'd finish with the family drama & get back to the roots of the book.
Maggie and her crew get a new member of the winged persuasion who comes in very handy as Maggie sets out to rescue nieces, sisters and herself from a new threat. And is there a new love interest developing on the home front.........
I continue to enjoy this series. There's a lot of action in this episode and the conclusion of one entanglement and the beginning of another. I encourage you to take the time to read the complete series. It's fun, entertaining reading.
Another great installment in the series. This one had way more danger than the others, or at least the stakes were higher. Others are starting to see, and tell Maggie, the same things I have been seeing in her for the last few books.
I've read some really awful books lately. I needed a break.
J.B. Lynn's books are like the perfect little confection at the end of a hard day. Brain candy, sure. Nothing deep here, not a lot of thinking required, but so very much fun to read.
