She's Aggie Hillyer- schoolteacher.

Aggie, a tough-vulnerable New Yorker, is a product of the sixties who finds herself teaching in Florida at Arcadia High. Nobody told her she'd be entering a zoo where the administrators were more dangerous than her pupils, where women's lib, gay rights, and integration were something other people read about in the newspapers. Fighting for her students and her own right to life, it's all here: the wins, the losses, the public dramas, her private battles.

The author has been a schoolteacher for twelve years, during which time she has had first-hand experience with child abuse, prostitution, drug addiction, violence, and discrimination in our schools.

"We do what we must. We do all that we can. Because, my darling, somebody must. And when our hearts become too heavy with sorrow we must turn away our eyes and go on…"

DNF@ 100 pages.

This was extremely stereotypical. Nothing in this was an original thought. It was hurtful and disgusting towards everyone. No one was safe in this. Usually, things don’t get to me but this was pure cringe. Honestly, it’s not worth the paper it was printed on.
