This is an exhaustive and thorough companion to FFXV. It's got everything in there, while also preserving the story and to mostly keep it from becoming spoiled, even in the walkthrough sections. It also has a gorgeous section on the concept art for the game as well as a lot of character design and background.
My main complaint is in the effort to fit everything in, the font is super tiny and makes my old eyes tired to try to read. Otherwise, it's a great thing to pick up if you're a hardcore FF player.
Because I pre ordered Final Fantasy XV and the complete guide but then to come out this was not an FF as I was used to, I have not used nor read the game and guide. This is more an open combat system while I love so prefer the turn base battle system,.
May one day give it another try though because it might be just a matter of getting to learn the new battle system.
This hardcover guide was really good for the game. Some may say that because of the continuing update of the game in terms of balance changes and additional content that it is rendered useless but this is not the case. I found that it is awesome for going through the story still, this many months out from release. Additionally, Ive found the maps to be incredibly helpful. It is something nice about having the map in my hand versus trying to look at a pc screen. They also have highlighted the proper routes to take during many moments in quests. Lastly boss strategies remain relevant with weaknesses and drops accurately detailed. Dialogue choices remain relevant as well.
Overall I used this guide extensively during my 84 hour playthrough of the game and found the detail of the hunts and weakness and locations, maps, quests, and how to go through stealth missions useful.
This answered any question one might have playing the game and has nice details and artwork. Honestly, the game is easy enough that you don't *need* it. But, it's a really nice supplement if you're playing with another person and taking turns at the controls.
Good for the completionist in us all. Not needed to get through the game, but great for making sure you haven't missed anything. One con is the text came be a little small and maps someone confusing trying to put everything on one or two pages.
