Lucca was made the underboss, being what nightmares are made of.

Chloe was scarred by her past, learning too young that nightmares are real.

He has waited long enough to claim her soul, but he must take it from the devil first.

Her soul might have been better off claimed by the devil.

The only way to save her from her past is to delve into his.

The world as she knows it will come crashing down.

I'm the f--king boogieman.

I'm just a f--king freak.

Hey! My name is Sarah Brianne and after living for twenty-two years the characters in my head told me enough was enough and I have finally put pen to paper (or is it finger to keyboard?) to tell their stories. Since I was a little girl I have watched every chick flick I could get my hands on, then when I became older I discovered a whole new world of romance novels. To me there is nothing better then a tale of true love and those are the stories that have inspired me to write. Like everything else in my life I have put my own spin on two lovers destined to be together.

XOXO,
Sarah Brianne

Every reader has a guilty pleasure book, and this is mine. My Goodreads friends are reading high-quality books; meanwhile, I'm over here reviewing junk. My life has been hectic lately, so I'm avoiding heavy books like the plague.

As I mentioned in a previous review, the romance genre had gone downhill. I'm kind of over it. What's a girl to do when she needs a decent romance novel but can't find any? She turns to the archives, as Obi-Wan Kenobi did in Attack of the Clones. I didn't find the remote planet of Kamino. I did, however, find Lucca.

Then came the arduous task of choosing the right book. Alexa play Losing Your Memory by Ryan Star. I remembered eventually. The guiltiest of guilty pleasures.

Lucca is the fourth book in Sarah Brianne's Made Men series. Lucca Caruso, also known as the boogieman, is the psychotic underboss and eldest son of Kansas City's current mob boss. Chloe Masters is the mayor's daughter. What's the best way to describe Lucca? He's Brad Pitt on the outside and Hannibal Lecter on the inside. I'm usually not one to fawn over asshole characters, but I love this man. I love this man, and that's all there is to it. Chloe is deeply damaged. She doesn't want anything to do with Lucca. In fact, she doesn't want anything to do with any man. The only person she trusts is her best friend, Elle (the heroine from the first book). All she wants to do is leave Kansas forever. Fate has other plans.

Lucca and Chloe are an unlikely pair. He is the most feared man in the city, and she distrusts men and can't stand to be touched.

Don't ask me why I love this book so much. I tried reading the other eight books in the series, and I can't think of a single one I liked. I'm serious. Eight books and I cringed at all of them. For some strange reason, my weird brain loves this book.

If you're looking for a steamy read, this book is not for you. Lucca is the very definition of a slow burn. And by slow burn, I mean SUPER SLOW BURN.

I am by no means an expert in crime. My 'knowledge' comes from true crime podcasts, Narcos, Breaking Bad, The Godfather, Pulp Fiction, Heat, and Boyz n The Hood. So I guess that counts for something. The sequel is coming out this month. I've waited six years for this. As Enchanted's Giselle would say, dreams do come true.

5 Darlin' Stars!!!

I am just going to start by saying that I was so scared when I began reading this.. I hyped it up so much that I knew I was going to be disappointed. BUT I WASN'T! I loved every second of this story!

The story continues after the gut wrenching cliffhanger at the end of Chloe. We finally learn all the history behind her traumatic past and who is responsible for hurting her. Chole is scarred, and afraid - she is constantly shying away from people and doesn't let anyone get close to her. However, my beautiful Lucca does not accept that. He knew from the moment he saw her that she was special and he not only wanted to help her heal and protect her but he needed her just as much to help heal him.

"You're mine Chloe Masters. You have been since the moment I saw your scarred face. You just didn't know it."

I was pleasantly surprised with Lucca in this book. Towards Chloe he was kind, patient, and gentle - nothing like the hardened psychopathic killer his family and all around him know him to be. Also he wasn't shy in his words of love and affection, which is what I usually expect with the tough guy mafia dudes...

Despite this soft side he was still ruthless with those around him and his death count continues to go up.

Now what I didn't like with this book was I felt the beginning was a bit slow and parts of it began to drag for me, however things definitely started picking up about half way through. And I did not find that last showdown with the Luciano's that realistic .Also some of the flashbacks seemed slightly irrelevant - but for the most part they seemed important but a few of them felt repetitive like the gazebo scene and the music box scene. But people will be happy to know that flashbacks were quite minimal in this book! I know that was a huge complaint with Chloe.

In terms of steam this book was an endless array of foreplay. I expected that because of Chloe's aversion to touch but once her and Lucca finally take the leap OMG it is hot. Despite the lack of physical intimacy you could still feel the passion between the two. Lucca never wavers in his feelings and Chloe slowly comes out of her shell and accepts him.

Amo... oh poor Amo. I don't feel that bad for him because I was always #TeamLucca, but it was sad reading about his reaction to Chloe and Lucca. He did love her in his own way but it is apparent that it was nothing compared to Lucca's feelings. For Amo fans we do get a few chapters in his perspective which is nice. I do hope he gets his happy ending - I'm not as eager for his book but I would definitely still read it. But I totally get it.. second place sucks.

I will now end this review with my favourite line from the book!!

"Holding Chloe to him, it was now hard for him to think God couldn't exist. There was no way Chloe could exist if God didn't. She was made special... Made for him."

After the disappointment that was Chloe 'cuz it really was just a prologue, Sarah better keep her word and does write this one super long.

Update:
It's January 31st. (thou barely, hour and a half more & it'd be Feb 1)
Just got home.
And yup, Lucca is finally here.
1 click and it's on my kindle.
Now we shall see if it'll deliver. It better.
*goes off to read*
*few seconds later*
Well. Chloe had 2608 pages on kindle.
Lucca has 4254. That's promising.
*now goes off to read for real*

Update 2:
I'm done.
Read it all.
Wait was worth it.

Loved reading how Lucca & Chloe's interactions slowly changed. And the ending was satisfying.
But damn, now I want more of Lucca and Chloe! :D
I swear I'd gladly read another book of just those two!

I'll try to make it as spoiler free as possible since it just came out. Actually, majority of my reviews are spoiler free cuz I tend/like to write of overall impressions, so one can read further without fear. Ain't no spoilers. Besides there are always plenty of other reviews that go into characters, plot, and what not else if one needs it ;)

.::. Sure, just like Sarah said - it had it's dark moments. maybe I've gotten too um desensitized? and used towards all the violence and stuff, but didn't seem too dark to me...I think I've read darker books & seen more violent dramas/movies, but that's just me, maybe someone not so used to it it'll seem more dark
.::.There weren't that many flashbacks. And while few paragraphs did repeat themselves from Chloe not really worth griping about.
.::. We got to see more of Lucca. That alone was worthwhile! And I don't mean just cuz we got to see his character as it was his book, but also his POV's. Thou that was also obviously to be expected, but still...niiiiiiiice ~
.::. Like I said before - we got to see Lucca & Chloe interacting more and the dynamic within their relationship change/grow.
.::. Got to meet the "devil" who hurt Chloe. Ain't saying more 'cuz that's spoiler stuff.
.::. The plot flowed nicely and the flashbacks didn't seem out of place. Also, there really was going on more than what might seem at first glance.
.::. And unexpectedly it even had fun woven in! Had some good laughs towards the end :D

Overall I'd say I'm satisfied with Lucca. If this was the end and there'd be no more books in Made Men series which would have some glimpses of these two, I'm totally ok with this ending. Of course, doesn't mean I'm not craving for more of Lucca & Chloe, but I can live with it.

There are different kinds of good/great/amazing/awesome/epic etc books.
They're all equally great, but each in it's own way.

There are those books who, after reading them, leave you feeling like this was so awesome you just don't know what to do with yourself. It's like your emotions exploded! One just can't calm down, you're so excited and happy. (of course there are also those books that might leave you heartbroken & desolate etc while being great, but for this comparison I need the exploding kind)

And then there are those who leave you feeling just as great but in a way that leaves behind a slow simmering burn. Lucca is the slow burn type. The flames keep weaving around you neither igniting nor dying down. That's Lucca. It was great and awesome, but in a calm way. I could compare the feeling (and there have been few times I've had it before, thou can't recall which book/series it was now) to Game of Thrones watching. I'm totally hooked yet it doesn't leave me in hysterics. I'm satisfied & happy with what I have and am eager and patient to wait for more.

So yeah, Lucca gets those 5 stars, my love & compliments, joins favorite-favorites shelf as well as being re-read. Already :D

TOP 5 REASONS I THINK Lucca IS A SPACE ALIEN.

description

#5. Chloe Thinks Like A Pod Person.

EXHIBIT A:
“The blood that trickled down her face burned into her skin. She knew, even then, she would never forget the feeling when her tears met the blood to scorch paths of bloody tears down her face.”

Chloe’s compulsive rephrasing of the same sentence and unconscious overuse of the words “blood”, “true”, and “face”, indicate her thoughts are trapped in a strange, repetitive loop commonly associated with alien mind control.

EXHIBIT B: “It was cozy, warm, and perfect, reminding her of the outdoors that perfectly sat in downtown Kansas City.”

While this sentence makes no sense to Earthlings, it’s meaning is clear to Chloe. Which proves Chloe is thinking in an alien language.

description

WHATEVER YOURSELF, SKULLY.

#4. Chloe Constantly Refers To Lucca As A “Being”.

EXHIBIT C: “The door creaked open, Chloe turned to meet the being behind the door.”
EXHIBIT D: “She stared up at the dangerous, hungry being.”
EXHIBIT E: “She looked at the frightening being, unafraid, her heart swelling.”

description

MAYBE. (NOT!)

#3. Lucca Doesn’t Speak Modern Day Earthling (And His Grammar Is Atrocious).

EXHIBIT F: “He was afraid and was being ripped apart and torn in two. He wanted desperately to wake her up by holding her close, to forever erase the nightmares that reaped her soul.”

The last time I heard someone speak that formally, I was watching Versailles on the Ovation Network.

EXHIBIT G: “Another question from Drago circled the air around him.”

Either Lucca is capable of seeing people’s thoughts, or he doesn’t know what a misplaced modifier is.

description

SURE. FINE. WHATEVER, MULDER.

#2. Lucca Has Bizarre, Unearthly Powers.

Whenever Lucca is with Chloe, her eyes do bizarre, unexplainable things.

EXHIBIT H: “It must have been the complete nonexistent sleep she had gotten since being here, but her eyes slowly drifted away and into the night."

Her eyes just “DRIFTED AWAY INTO THE NIGHT” on their OWN? How bizarre!

EXHIBIT I: “It wasn’t until then that he let her eyes fall to her lap as she began chewing.”

He “LET” her eyes “FALL” into her "LAP”? Sounds bizarre, right?

description

AND GROSS.

#1. Lucca’s Appearance Is A Little…. OFF.

If numbers 5 - 2 aren’t enough evidence that Lucca is a space alien, Chloe’s physical description of him will undoubtedly be more convincing:

EXHIBIT J: “His dark Italian skin glowed in the dimly-lit room, highlighting the muscles all over his body.”

Uh… “ITALIAN SKIN” doesn’t "GLOW”. It’s ALIEN SKIN!

EXHIBIT K: “He slid his mouth lower until his bearded lips hovered over her center.”

His LIPS have a BEARD! Not his FACE! His LIPS! They’re ALIEN LIPS!

EXHIBIT L:
“ ‘You trimmed your hair and beard, too.’
He smiled. ‘Do you like that, too, darlin’?’
That was hard to decide, since it was more permanent than putting on a suit.”

His HAIRCUT is "PERMANENT”! As in, it will NEVER grow back! It’s ALIEN HAIR!

description

I THOUGHT YOU’D SAY THAT.

Though, I must admit, I do love Lucca. If he’s an alien, he’s a protective, jealous, possessive, swoony alien:

“It took me one look to fall in love with her. One look to want to know everything about her. One look to want to kill whoever gave her those scars. You’ll never know the love I feel for her. How beautiful it is. How painful it can be. What it felt like when I first looked at her. And what it felt like when I thought I might lose her. You’ll never know true love until you experience true fear. And you will never feel those toward her, as I am the only one for her. She. Is. Mine." ~ Lucca

So, Despite the mind control, strangely formal speech, atrocious grammar, bizarre telekinesis, glowing skin, hairy lips, and permanent haircut; LUCCA IS, AND ALWAYS WILL BE, A GREAT ROMANTIC HERO.

description

Sarah Brianne has an amazing imagination, a wonderful sense of humor, and an undeniable talent for characterization. However, the many sentence fragments, word repetitions, vague pronoun references, and misplaced modifiers in Lucca render the narrative choppy, confusing, and darn right comical.

There will come a time when Brianne will have to decide if she’s content selling subpar fan fiction to the few readers willing to overlook her sloppy presentation, or she wants to broaden her readership, enhance her reputation, and increase her profits by crafting professional quality stories. Until Brianne chooses the latter option, Lucca is my last Made Men read.

Lucca by Sarah Brianne: 2.5 “The Story Is Poorly Executed But I Still Love Lucca” Stars. (I gave it an extra star because I love Lucca & an extra 1/2 star as a going away present.)

YOU'RE WELCOME SARAH!

Finally I have read Lucca and Chloe ‘s book and I absolutely loved it! When it comes to romance, a weakness of mine is a couple that are two loners/ misfits who fall for one another and become each other’s only desire to live! I know in real life that would be unrealistic, but in romanceland; I love it! In the case of Lucca and Chloe; it’s because of Chloe’s scars and lack of being able to be touched that she is called a “freak.” In Lucia’s case his is considered a monster, mainly because he is a torturer with no remorse... the underboss to the mafia... When these two come together though they are soul mates and bring out the best in each other.

The relationship between Chloe and Lucca was extremely intense! I devoured every word about them and felt their scenes as if it were me experiencing them! Lucca’s all consuming lover for her was inspiring and it brought out the best there was in Lucca! He went to the ends of the earth to destroy the people who tormented Chloe’s nightmares!

This is a book I would definitely read again! It really isn’t a stand alone though. You have the read the first two books to get all the history of everybody involved! Well worth it though! I’m eager to see what comes next for the Made Men; things in the mafia world are heating up!!! Next is a guy named “Angel!!” I can’t wait to see what makes him tick!!!

Where do I start, where do I start?
I've waited so long for this book, I've been mesmerised by Lucca since his first appearance in Nero and even though 'Chloe' was such a non-event as a book I couldn't wait for this.
It's safe to say I struggled early on, the chapters were short and jumpy with blank pages between them I just couldn't get settled in to it.
Were my hopes and expectations just too high?
Was this going to be another Chloe?
I continued on and I'm not sure exactly when it happened but at some point I found I'd got used to the style and settled into the reading but......
I don't think it's well written and if I'm being honest it's very juvenile if I'd picked this up as an individual book I wouldn't have got far before giving up but this is Lucca and I was desperate to like it.
I loved that Lucca loved Chloe so completely, everything he did for her and because of her but (yes again with the but) I found the book somewhat shallow, we never really discover much about him, who exactly is Lucca?

What Chloe has suffered was dreadful and I don't know if I've become jaded by reading so much but I thought it would have been more. This sounds awful, I know and I don't mean to trivialise what she's been through but she came across as weak, far too weak for Lucca and it made difficult reading her being so scared of everything all the time.

I have mixed feelings on the extra information we get on Maria.
Firstly I've been looking forward to Maria's book and the possible romance with Kayne (who I find intriguing) now not so much.
It has opened up possibilities for her future in the family although honestly I think I'm done with this author.

I don't want to make this a spoiler review but there were several things I wasn't sure about for example I always believed Dante had his wife killed.
Was this just me?

And while I do like the cover as a cover it wasn't at all how I'd pictured Lucca.
I wanted to love this book so badly but I didn't and I've come away feeling disappointed it could have been good, so much more and written so much better.
Is this harsh?
Maybe, I can't write and I respect people who do, it can't be easy putting your work on display for people to pick at but (again with the but) I told myself when I started reviewing that I would always be honest even if it wasn't popular or easy and so yes I found this book juvenile, shallow and disappointing.

***4,5 "Hey, darlin'!!!"stars***

Finally!!! Finally!!! Finally!!!
After the previous book which wasn't what i was waiting for, it came this book and it repaid me!!!

And that happened for three reasons....
First of all, the story finally continued and it wasn't a retelling of what we already knew, even though there were some memories which didn't bother me at all....
Secondly, this was Lucca's story and i was intigued by this man from the very first moment in Nero's book...
And the third reason is that this book means that Chloe will end up with Lucca!!!!

(Sorry, Amo, you're sweet, but come on, HE IS LUCCA!!!!)

"Lucca was his name, but he was no man. He was the boogieman."

Lucca is the underboss of the Carusso family and he is the most feared and ruthless man...

He was a heartless monster until the day seven months ago that he laid his eyes upon Chloe Masters and his black heart started to beat in a strange rhythm...
That scared girl was the most beautiful creature that he had ever seen and he wanted to make her his... To save her from the demons that get a hold of her heart and soul...

To heal her if it was that possible from a man like him...

“Her tortured soul called to his dark one, whispering for him to save her. His heart was now slow and steady, finding its purpose—Chloe Masters.”

“It took me one look to fall in love with her. One look to want to know everything and anything about her. One look to feel protective of her, like my life depended on it. One look to want to kill whoever gave her those scars.”

As we all know, Chloe was a fragile, damaged girl who was scared of everyone around her and Lucca was the person that scared her more than anyone...

Before some years, a demon destroyed her face, her body and her soul and from that moment, she couldn't get away from him... It was impossible to forget and keep going....
She didn't want anyone to touch her and she just wanted to leave this town behind her forever....
But the boogieman had his eyes upon her and he was having different plans for her....

“For four long years, her body had been claimed by the one she had believed to be the most heinous of beings, but now she could feel the old bonds the devil had placed on her breaking, and new chains were taking its place. These chains were heavier, tighter, showing her that she had been claimed by a more evil being. Her body had been claimed by the boogieman.”

"Holding Chloe to him, it was now hard for him to think God could not exist. There was no way Chloe could exist if God didn’t. She was made special … Made for him.
...He was here on this earth for her. To save her."

So, Chloe, for once again, found herself a prisoner in a different kind of prison with another one dangerous man...
A man that claimed that he could save her if she only let him...

Something that wasn't possible, especially since he was who he was... Or was it???
Can Chloe and Lucca find their way to each other??? Or their future is black???

"This was it. She was signing her life away. Lucca was going to take away everything she had clung to, the things she had used to survive."

"“You feel it, too, don’t you?” He didn’t need the answer, because the feeling was shared between them, like a bond.
The feeling had been there since meeting Lucca, just how it had been for him when he had first seen her. She had subconsciously pushed away the intense feeling because it frightened her, yet it only grew stronger the more she was around him."

God, I didn't think that i could love Lucca more, but in this book, he proved me wrong!!!
The man was absolutely perfect in an imperfect way...
Yep, he was a monster... A killer without remorse.... But he could do anything for Chloe!!!

I liked so much the way that he approach Chloe and how patient he was with her...
If there was one person that could save Chloe from her demons, he was the one!!!!

“You will never know the love I feel for her . How beautiful it is. How painful it can be. What it felt like when I first looked at her. And what it felt like when I thought I might lose her before I could even save her. You will never know true love until you experience true fear. And you will never feel those toward her, as I am the only one for her. She. Is. Mine.”

I also liked Chloe even more than before....
Yep, she was so scared all the time, but she had good reasons for those reactions...

Her soul was thisty for someone to stand beside her and her heart was trembling when she was near to Lucca, even though that she couldn't admit it!!!
What i liked even more was her transformation near to Lucca... As the time was passing by, Chloe was becoming a different person, especially toward Lucca and i loved it!!!

"Something about Lucca had always called her body to his, but her mind knew better, always realizing how dangerous he was."

"He was … hauntingly beautiful.
That single thought coursed true fear through her unlike anything before. For someone who feared everything, she never feared herself. Until now."

I won't tell you more things, because i could speak for hours!!! LOL
The most important thing is that i loved this book and i enjoyed it very much!!!

I liked how the things were developed and how a kind of revenge was taken...
Both Lucca and Chloe deserved this closure...

"He had thought he had already found his true purpose when he had seen her for the first time, but that had been only the half of it. His purpose was saving Chloe Masters, but his true purpose was them saving each other.
Every day, he had felt himself become more insatiable. The darkness in him was walking a path of no return … And then he had touched her, and the heinous being inside that had been desolate and alone finally found hope. He was reborn.
The boogieman had found another the world viewed as a freak, as a monster."

And who will be next??? Maria??? Amo??? Whoever it is, i can't wait!!!
There will be a next book, right Sarah???

TEAM LUCCA ALL THE WAY

Lucca was his name, but he was no man. He was the boogieman.
She had only witnessed that in one other being in her life: the devil.

Immediately, he knew it was a
woman when tall, black boots and black
jeans hit the ground. The next thing he
noticed was her long, silky hair. It was
the blackest hair he had ever seen.
He desperately wanted a glimpse of
her face, but she never turned around.
Lucca found himself turning off the
car and getting out, wondering how this
was more important than anything else
he could do with his time. His instincts
were what kept him going, following her
into the store.
Have I seen her before?
Another small glimpse revealed her
young age.
Stopping, he was about to turn
around. She’s too young.
The girl turned then went back to a
table she had missed.
His heart stopped a beat when he
saw the whole left side of her face and a
striking gray eye. The other half of her
face was covered by a veil of hair. He
wished he could reach out to feel the
pure black strands of silk and move it to
reveal the rest of her face.
Leave now. Nothing good would
come of this. He should have left the
moment he had noticed she was just a
teenage girl.
He was unable to place it yet, but
something about her called to him. It
kept him from looking away from the girl
and leaving.
The whole thing felt so wrong yet so
right. He was being pulled in different
directions. His mind told him to leave,
but his body kept him patiently waiting.
Watching her hand go up to her face,
he felt his breath catch in his throat when
she swept her hair behind her ear. Fuck.
His heart skipped another beat at the
sight of her face in its entirety. His eyes
traveled down the right side of her
gorgeous face that held a scar from
above her eyebrow down to the hollow
of her cheek. Another one graced the
right side above and below her luscious
lips. The instinct to let his fingertips
glide down each mark was so strong he
thought he might break his cover.
Her gray eyes held the story behind
the scar, a story of sadness, grief, and
torture. It was like staring at a perfect
porcelain doll that had been dropped
one too many times. Others would see a
flaw in the cracked doll, making her no
longer perfect, but he saw only beauty.
She was the most beautiful creature he
had ever seen.
He could watch her study the
delicate piece with gentle hands for
hours.
The gold, ornate piece she was
infatuated with was unfamiliar to him
until she opened the egg-shaped object,
and music began to play. Her eyes
danced as she watched a ballerina twirl
to the music. He wondered what it
would feel like if she looked at him that
way.“
It’s a beautiful piece, isn’t it?” the
older woman who looked to be the
storeowner asked as she came up to her.
The girl quickly became startled,
shutting the music box. He wanted her to
go back to the way she had been a
moment before.
When her tongue peeked out to lick
her lips, he eagerly waited to hear the
voice that belonged to her.
“Y-yes.” She went back to looking at
the box, avoiding the gaze of the woman.
“H-how much is it?”
“Three thousand dollars.”
She removed her fingers from the
piece. “Oh.”
The woman kindly smiled. “I know
Christmas just passed, but you could
always ask for it for your birthday,
maybe. I could hold it.”
She shook her head. “Thank you, but
it’s too much.”
The lady smiled. “Well, you could
always come back if you talk your
parents into it.”
“Thank you.” The girl took one last
glance at the music box before she left
the store.
Watching her leave was harder than
he had thought it would be. He wouldn’t
be able to come out of the store until she
pulled out. Therefore, he had to watch
her go to the car through the display
window, and that wasn’t close enough
for him.
A vibration in his pocket had him
pulling out his cell phone. He didn’t say
a word when he accepted the call.
His friend Sal came over the phone.
“The BMW is registered to Maxwell
Masters.”
That wasn’t what he had expected,
though it explained why he felt like he
had seen her before.
“Girl,” Lucca spoke into the phone
carefully, watching her approach the
driver’s side.
“He’s married to Elaine Maste—”
“Younger,” he cut him off.
Sal paused. “Scar?”
Lucca’s eyes traced her markings.
“Yes.”
“That’s Maxwell’s daughter, Chloe
Masters.”
He ended the call with the push of a
button.
Time stood still for him as he soaked
in anything and everything he could
about her before she disappeared into
the car.
There was always a moment one
faced in life when a choice had to be
made, and this was his.
Her tortured soul called to his dark
one, whispering for him to save her. His
heart was now slow, steady, finding its
purpose—Chloe Masters …
Taking one last look at the scar on
her face, he couldn’t wait for the day he
could run his fingers across it. Beautiful.

“Hey, darlin’,” a deep voice sounded
behind her.
Chloe jumped at the sound. A
second later, a man appeared on the
other side of the rails. He was
terrifyingly beautiful and scared the
hell out of her, regardless of how
handsome he was. She didn’t think a
man that good-looking should even
exist, or a man that chilling.
Chloe didn’t move a muscle,
completely frozen in place.
He kept walking toward the
entrance of the gazebo and went up the
step. “I didn’t mean to scare you.”
She had no idea how she hadn’t
heard him. She didn’t even know where
he had come from.
She watched him lean up on a
pillar, blocking her exit. After every
hair had managed to stand up on her
body at one look of his eyes, Chloe
darted her gaze down to her lap and
started fiddling with her hands.
“I’m Nero’s brother, Lucca. I would
shake your hand, but you wouldn’t
shake it, anyway.”
Chloe quickly glanced back up at
him before looking down again. How
did he know that?
Lucca read her eyes. “I overheard
that you’re apparently germaphobic.”
Chloe glanced back up at him
again. Apparently? He was really
starting to freak her out now.
Chloe attempted to decide if she
should honestly be afraid and try to run
away. Yes, I should. However, Lucca
was blocking the only exit, and she was
not going anywhere near him.
Chloe saw him move; as a result,
she regretfully had to look at him
again. She held her breath when he put
his hand into his pocket to pull
something out. When a pack of
cigarettes came out, she let out her
breath. She continued to watch him pull
a cigarette out and then hold it between
his lips as he put the pack back in his
pocket. Going into his other pocket, he
pulled out a lighter. Chloe thought she
was going to have a heart attack if he
went into his pocket again.
Lucca flipped his lighter open and
lit the end, making it burn a bright red
as he inhaled.
“You don’t mind, do you?”
Chloe slowly shook her head. She
wished she could look away from him,
but she was too afraid. She could tell
he was Nero’s brother without a doubt;
they both oozed confidence and sex.
They looked very similar, as well.
Lucca had the same skin color, but
she couldn’t quite tell if his hair was
black or brown. The same went with his
eyes; she couldn’t tell if they were blue
or green. She would swear they were
one color before the string lights
picked up the other color, changing her
mind all over again. Lucca, however,
was a billion times more frightening
and a million times more handsome
than Nero. She figured it had to do with
the age gap, but one thing they were
very different about was the way they
dressed. Nero only dressed in button-up
shirts and slacks, while Lucca was
wearing a black sweatshirt and dark,
loose jeans.
She wasn’t used to seeing hair as
long as his. It was swept back, yet it
touched the back of his neck. He
clearly didn’t care if it wasn’t trimmed
and neat, just like his unshaven
stubble. Everyone she was around
always looked immaculate, making his
bad-boy appearance more like ‘don’t
cross me, or I will murder your entire
family tree.’ I don’t think it matters what
he wears; he would look like that,
regardless.
“Aren’t you a little cold out here,
darlin’?” His voice also oozed just as
much confidence as Nero.
She felt uncomfortable with him
calling her that. If I tell him my name,
he’ll stop.
“M-my name is Chloe.”
She watched him smile as he took a
puff, holding the cigarette between his
thumb and index finger. He exhaled.
“The mayor’s daughter, right?”
Chloe nodded gently. She knew that
practically everyone was aware she
was the mayor’s only child. Right?
“You were in that car wreck a few
years back. I remember reading about
it in the papers. Is that how you tell
everyone you got those scars?” Lucca
tapped his ashes in the snow without
moving his eyes from her.
Chloe swallowed and looked back
down at her hands. “That i-is how I got
them.”
“No, it’s not. I know a knife cut
when I see one.”
Chloe glimpsed back up at him.
How did he know? “I-I d-don’t know
what you’re t-talking about.”
Lucca flicked his cigarette in the
yard. “Yeah, you do.”
A chill went down her spine at his
words, causing her to stand, not able to
stay around him any longer and not
liking where this was headed.
She walked a step forward, hoping
he would move. His muscular frame
was blocking the whole entryway. She
didn’t want to know how many hours
he’d spent in the gym; she could see his
muscles through his thick, dark
sweatshirt. When he still didn’t move,
she gradually moved up more. Please
move, please move.
Chloe was now just a few small
steps away, refusing to go any farther.
“C-can you let me through?” Her legs
started to shake when he dipped his
hand back into his pocket. Her heels
made it hard for her to hold herself up.
Lucca pulled out another cigarette
and flipped his lighter open. He slowly
lit the end, not moving his eyes from
her. He blew the smoke out, making it
roll over her body. Instead of putting
the lighter back in his pocket, he
flicked it again, and the silver Zippo
shot out a flame. Lucca did one of his
tricks, rolling the lighted Zippo inbetween
each of his fingers.
“I will if you tell me how old you
are.”
Wait … what?
Chloe became entranced, staring at
the flame expertly passing through his
fingers. She didn’t know how he didn’t
let it burn himself.
Chloe mindlessly answered and
asked her own question, captivated by
the glow. “Seventeen. You?”
Lucca suddenly flipped the lighter
closed. “Twenty-six.”
Something told her he wasn’t very
happy about her answer by the look on
his face.
Twenty-six. She had no clue why
she’d asked how old he was.
After she’d watched him move
slightly to let her pass, she really
wished he would give her more room
than that.
Chloe slowly walked up and turned
her body to the side, keeping her eyes
on him, afraid he would move when she
passed through. She held her breath as
she carefully started to move by him.
Her face came to the middle of his
chest, even in heels, and his shoulders
came right above her head.
When she had successfully passed
him, somehow with just mere
centimeters apart, Chloe started
walking as fast as she could, trying not
to run back to the house.
Lucca’s voice carried across the
yard. “You can’t run from the truth
forever, darlin’.”
Chloe picked her feet up faster.
Yes, I can. I’ve been doing it for
years …

Chloe had
decided she needed to leave

think. Getting in the car, Chloe took one
last look at the house that had never been
a home, but had been her prison. As she
drove away, she could feel the chains
slowly start to break as she left her
prison and then her city behind. Breaking
free was a paramount feeling she would
always remember.
Chloe rolled down the window,
letting the warm summer air whip across
her face. Taking a deep breath in, she felt
the last chain break.
I’ve finally reached freedom.

A hard body wrapped around her,
along with a cloth covering her mouth
and nose. The hand behind the cloth
stifled any screams or protests she could
have made, and the strong body kept her
in place.
Stay still, little girl.
There was no fight to be had. Her
vision went blurry as it all started to
fade away.
Or it’ll just hurt worse.
She had known it was too good to be
true. Her soul belonged to the devil …

Amo the beast might be the safer choice, he might even be the choice you want. But a beast can’t fight the devil, for that you need a boogieman. When you are as emotionally scarred as Chloe you need the one that will fight for you, you need the man with the blue-green eyes who commands your body …

TEAM LUCCA ALL THE WAY

This is a fantastic book I can't even put it into words. Its a must read. So many glorious moments I can't even begin to put into words. Just beautiful. I didn't put it down once since I started, well, only to jump up and down like I was stupid, but that doesn't count.

“Her tortured soul called to his dark one, whispering for him to save her.”

Lucca and Chloe

Chloe
“Her gray eyes held the story behind the scar, a story of sadness, grief, and torture. It was like staring at a perfect porcelain doll that had been dropped one too many times. Others would see a flaw in the cracked doll, making her no longer perfect, but he saw only beauty.”

description

and Lucca

“His combination of terrifying yet beautiful was too much for one man to have.”

description

The Boogieman and the Freak. Un romance lento, en el que pudimos saborear cada instante.

“A taste of you … is worth a lifetime in Hell.”

description

Mi parte favorita fue el enfrentamiento entre Lucca y Amo, me sentí mal por Amo, pero el necesitaba escucharlo, ya que todo lo que Lucca le dijo fue verdad.

“I want you to live every day knowing that I’m with her and you’re not. Knowing that she belongs to me and me alone. To die little by little every time you see us together, just the way I did when I saw her with you.”

***5 Soulmates Between a Boogieman and a Freak STARS***

“It took me one look to fall in love with her. One look to want to know everything and anything about her. One look to feel protective of her, like my life depended on it. One look to want to kill whoever gave her those scars.”

Este libro es tan tan tan HERMOSO!!

Este es uno de los mejores libros de mafia que he leído ever, amé cada parte de él. Es tan PERFECTO (puede que hable mi amor por Lucca)

Thank you Thank you Thank you God for this book and Congratulations Sarah Brianne

Romance y mucho mucho Amor.

I’m going to save you, darlin’.
You just have to wait for me. You’re not ready for me yet

The question of why his mother had been taken and not him had finally been answered.
He was here on this earth for her. To save her.

LUCCA
LUCCA
LUCCA
Lucca Darlin I love you sooo much, MIO MIO para amar. ❤❤❤

UPDATE 2018:

Sarah Brianne...I bow down to thee

You are my master and I your willing servant.

I must bow down to the master. Sarah Brianne has done it again, and in the process, left me speechless.

I freely admit that after reading Chloe, I was firmly team Amo. I was willing to trust the master and her plan, but I knew Lucca would have to convince me that he was right for Chloe and that she was right for him. So going into this book, I was both extremely excited and petrified. What happened if I didn’t feel it!? What if I remained Team Amo!? What would I do!?!?!?!?! Good news…I fell in love with Luca in the prologue, and was sold on his feelings for Chloe. It took me slightly longer to feel her feelings for him, but it did happen.

I lived for Lucca’s POVs. I didn’t think it was possible, but he struck such a cord with me that he had me laughing, crying and he had my heart pounding. The depth of emotion that Sarah Brianne poured into Lucca was simply breathtaking. I mean that quite literally. At one point I felt my breath catch and my eyes tear up and all I wanted was him to walk out of my kindle and into my arms. I had to admit this, because I don’t want it to be true…but she did it. The Maestro topped the best guy in the world, and actually made me angry at my favorite book boyfriend husband in the world. She made me want to smack him upside the head and reevaluate why I would love him when I could have Lucca. So she did it. She made me love someone as much as Nero. I can’t say that he surpasses Nero for me, mostly because Nero is special to me. He was my introduction to the genius that is Sarah Brianne, and he was the first hero that was perfect. He will always be my favorite because of that (and because I really do love him)…but Lucca…omg Lucca. The feels that he brought out in me.

Simply put…Lucca…

I’m not quite sure what it says about me that I love guys *cough*Nero & Lucca*cough* that go around beating people up and killing them for hurting their women….but I seriously got a huge case of the feels every time Lucca talked about his plan to avenge what had been done to Chloe.

After reading Chloe, I was skeptical that Lucca and Chloe were right for each other. But I was wrong. The connection they had was simply amazing. The care and understanding Lucca had for her was breathtaking. They way he went out of his way to make her comfortable and get her to trust him...perfection. And when it was revealed the depth of Lucca's feelings for her, I couldn't help but agree that he deserved everything he wanted and that I wanted him and Chloe to get a HEA.

Don’t even get me started on the lengths Lucca went to in order to protect Chloe. I loved how protective he was, how he was constantly on guard, and trying to keep her safe. There were quite a few scenes that overlapped with other books in the series, and I loved that because we got to see it from Lucca’s POV and what was going through his head during those scenes.

I was simply blown away by this book. This will definitely go down as my favorite book of the year, hands down. I know that no other book will top this. I can’t wait to see what Sarah Brianne comes out with next.

Lucca is a fantastic Hero he gets 5 plus stars. He is my favorite type of Hero. A badass (writer shows this in actions not just in words). He would do anything to protect the h. He is commanding & confident but he is never cruel to the h.
The story drags in some parts which is why I'm only giving it 4 stars. There are parts of this book I loved. I would love to read a follow-up book about Chloe & Lucca.

After reading Nero and Elle’s book, I thought I wouldn’t continue the series as they were my favourite couple but I changed my mind & I’m so glad I read this book today, even though its a year later… its absolutely the best one from the whole series!

The book continues from where Chloe was taken and she is now with Lucca. In this book you realise how much love Lucca has for Chloe, you discover how Chloe got those scars and you find out what a nightmare she went through! When Lucca first takes her, she is still shy and doesn’t like to be touched but further along, her and Lucca become closer, they eat together, chat about stuff, he cooks her food and she gets used to his touches…

This book is really sweet, I didn’t expect it to be because Lucca is described as this big bad pyscho in the other books but the way he was with Chloe made my heart melt because he only shows her, his sweet side. This was a super fun read, had me swooning & smiling throughout the book, I’m just so happy Lucca went for Chloe & Chloe chose Lucca!

*Favourite quotes in this book*

"Not even God could save a man who lays his hands on you".

"I promised to save you, darlin, I will always save you".

"It took me one look to fall in love with her. One look to want to know everything and anything about her. One look to feel protective of her, like my life depended on it. One look to want to kill whoever gave her those scars".

LUCCA!!! YAS!

Even though we don't see him a lot, he has always been my favourite and I was hoping he would be paired up with Chloe.

I hope this book is good because I was left a little disappointed with the Chloe's book. And of course Lucca deserves a mind blowing story. Hope Sarah does this couple justice.

4.5 waited for this FOREVER stars

I feel that this is Sarah's best book in the series so far. Both characters were true to themselves and true to the characters we had met in the previous books. I found the romance between them to be believable and paced right.

My only gripe is that the "devil" situation was resolved rather quickly. I feel that there should have been more of a fight.

7 Epic Masterpiece I'M IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK Stars!!!
I'm really over the moon. It was a while I didn't feel this way. A book so good that makes you happy and gives you butterflies. You don't read this kind of book everyday. You don't stay awake till 4 o'clock in th morning for just any story.
This was so beautiful omg, my only regret it's just that I already finished it!

THANK YOU SARAH BRIANNE
You took your time, you redeemed yourself in such a good, epic life changing way.
Thanks to you Lucca became alive, the story between Lucca and Chloe took place for real. In all the time I waited for this book I had tried so hard to imagine how this story would have been, but my imagination could not extend to such a beautiful story so damn well narrated that you seem able to touch the characters with your hands. *.*

PERFECTION
When I talked about perfection saying that Chloe wasn't written well and wasn't perfect, I Knew Sarah Brianne could write something PERFECT, because I had already seen a bit of it in the first two books. And She corfirmed my theory. She is a kickass author. She can talk about emotions. She can describe feelings and sensations. She learned the art of mistery and suspence. She can create an epic love and make it believable. <3 <3

AN HEARTBREAKING HEARTWARMING JOURNEY at the same time THIS BOOK
I lived every emotion as if I were the characters themselves thanks to the perfect narration. I felt all the shades of Lucca's feelings from his everlasting love, to hunger of revenge , from pain to desperation. I loved him so much.

FAVOURITE SCENES
I'll re read some parts so much times I'll learn them by heart.
The scene where He climbs 23 flights of stairs.
The scene where he hears Chloe's screams from nightmares.
The scene -this i think my favourite of all time- where he finally face Amo. (not because I liked that he won over Amo, but because in that chapter Lucca gave voice and explained out loud all his feelings for Chloe, all his anger against his rival and most of all ALL HIS FEARS TO LOSE HER. It really touched me.
AND THIS, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN IS A REAL MAN. *.*. Right that moment you could understand why Lucca could ever be the only choice for Chloe and you could feel the rightness in it.
(and the scene of the first kiss of course was so beautiful) <3<3

I'll never recover from this story.
I just hope Sarah Brianne will go on with this series and she will not make suffer us as she did to publish (two years of waiting) this.
so far best book of the year!! <3 <3

***Second time reading****
What can i say about this book that I haven't said already? If i could rate it 100 stars I would. Chloe and Lucca, especially Lucca, are just so wonderful together. And i LOVE that Lucca was celibate waiting for Chloe while Amo was the typical manwhore.
This book..... I could read it 15 more times and never get bored.

**First time reading***

Luca you have completely stolen my heart. Absolutely ADORED him with Chloe.
The utter devotion Lucca feels for Chloe is so powerful that it blows any Team Amo fans out of the water. This is an expert of one of my favorite scenes:

“You had to be told to look in her fucking direction and give her your precious time. I didn’t,” Lucca growled, never letting up on the knife. “It took me one look to fall in love with her. One look to want to know everything and anything about her. One look to feel protective of her, like my life depended on it. One look to want to kill whoever gave her those scars.”
Blood now trickled down Amo’s throat.
"You will never deserve Chloe. The same way Nero will never deserve Elle. Nero will spend the rest of his life trying to, but I won't let you try to deserve her."

Lucca and Sarah Brianne..... you have stolen my heart.

The only other book that i read from this author is 'Nero', which i loved.
I have not read Vincent(i did not like him) and i avoided 'Chloe' because from the reviews it seemed like nothing happened in that book and also i do NOT like love triangles!
But am glad i jumped directly into this one.

So here's the good thing, from this book it did not really seem like a LT to me :D :D
The h seems to have had always considered Amo just a friend.
I would say it's just unwanted romantic feelings from Amo's part.
As ya'll know she does not like to be touched so even her first kiss was Lucca and only he gets to touch her.
She wanted only Lucca's touch, no one else.#teamluccaallthewayxD
Am so happy she was not interested in Amo and did not let him get close :D :D

Lucca was awesome <3 like damn.
I love antiHs that are stalkers and always seem dangerous but ofc they are always sweet and full of love towards their hs.

She is just a broken, scared h paired with a strong, hot alpha- finally getting a happy ending.
By the end of the book, Chloe does grow a bit.
Oh did i mention that Lucca had NOT been with other women since 1st laying eyes on the h 7 months ago? =D
*swoon*
She is it for him<3

I would have missed so much, had i not given this a try!
I really enjoyed this, loved it!

In book three of the Made Men series Chloe was walking away from her friends to head to California to go to college. Chloe has a back story where she had been told she was in a car wreck by her family, she knew the scars she had were not from any car wreck but her parents insisted that be her story. She was running far away from the nightmares that still haunted her and she knew she would never be rid from.

Now she finds herself being kidnapped by the boogeyman, Lucca. Lucca had been a bit of an anomaly in her life but having him kidnap her has her scared and ready to run again. Lucca though has his reasons, he doesn't see Chloe as a scarred woman who is scared of her own shadow, he sees her as beautiful and plans to help her find herself again. The problem is though after a life filled with untrust how can she trust a killer?

I have always thought a book where the hero is a true villain who finds love would be fascinating and this was. Lucca is not necessarily a likeable character but you do. He is a hard man and has so many facets to his personalty that it is fascinating. This is a slow build romance but absolutely worth reading, I am ready to reread again.

I admit, I had my doubts. I was one of the many who felt disappointed with Chloe book 3, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Sarah Brianne IMO redeemed herself with Lucca.

What I like most was the believable relationship that formed between the two. They are both completely different people with only their "darkness" in common. Lucca uses his darkness to punish his enemies and Chloe uses hers as a shield. It seemed nearly impossible that Chloe would ever let a man she found so frightening touch her, much less into her heart, but Sarah Brianne beautifully executes their love story.

Let's begin with the man of the hour, Lucca

How can I sum up Lucca without leaving any of the delicious details out? Upon meeting Lucca early on in the series, it was quite obvious there was something about this mysterious, dangerous, sexy devil that intrigued readers to a max. Sarah Brianne teased with the first three books by only giving us tiny little glimpses of the gorgeous underboss. I, for one wanted more of Lucca ever since the first "darlin'. In this book we finally got to meet the man himself. He was everything he made himself out to be, he made no apologies for how the world saw him. It was refreshing having a Hero that didn't try to hide his secrets. He didn't care what others thought, he wore his sins on his sleeve with pride because that's what made him fearful and dominate.

We learn early on that Lucca loved Chloe from the moment he laid eyes on her which was about a week before their first initial meeting under the gazebo. I must point out that there are a few flashbacks in this book but all of them were moments in time I really wanted to read in Lucca's POV so I was extremely happy we got to see what he was thinking at certain points, like the gazebo meetings, casino attack, mall shooting...ect.

Lucca shows a different side to Chloe without really wavering from his true self. He's patient with her but also demanding when he has to be because he is the only one who can see how strong she really is. He's gentle and honest enough to make her feel relatively safe and comfortable. His protectiveness for her was as clear as his disdain for Amo.

All in all I enjoyed getting to know Lucca. Who knew he was a master chef and green-thumb? (whatever, it works) He let the reader in on how he viewed his family and future in the business. He also expressed his feelings on some of his men, preferably Sal (his right hand, who I'm really beginning to like, fingers crossed for his own book). Lucca will definitely make a good leader for the Caruso family IMO (as if he really needed my approval).

Chloe

Chloe was not as bad as I thought she’d be in this book. Yes, I might be a little unfair because I’m a tiny bit envious of her but anyway…once you get pass the aggravation of her “quirks” like the annoying speech impediment, she becomes a pretty confident heroine who overcame a lot in such a little time. In truth her fear of anything really helped the story progress.

She barely denied Lucca, which I know in some instances come off as weak, but in this case it helped her. The more she did as he asked the more he would push her to do things like touch is hand, spend time with him, open up to him, until all of sudden she started to do these things voluntarily. She was no longer listening to his requests because she was scared of him but instead it was because she grew to trust him. The moments she shared with Lucca were full of such passion and trust I really believed she could love him as much as he did her.

When she opened herself up to him the reader began seeing a new side to Chloe that came off as sweet and charming. The way she interacts with Lucca’s men (i.e. Drago and Sal) was nice and sincere. I liked how her feelings of friendship for Elle was really apparent as well as the rest of the gang and especially for Amo.

She thought about Amo a lot but it never crossed the line to romantic feelings. She cared deeply for Amo as a friend and I was glad that she was very sure of herself when it came time to be honest with him. She didn’t lead him on or play with his feelings because of her uncertainty. She was sure she wanted Lucca and that was it. I thought the way she approached Amo about it was nice especially compared to the way Lucca approached him.

Anyway Chloe used to be my least favorite character because she was merely a shadow in the other books, but with this book we were able to see more of her once the shield came down. She completely transformed from the transparent freak in the hallway to the most protected and powerful woman in Kansas City.

Amo

Poor Amo. Nobody likes to lose, especially when it comes to matters of the heart. I understood that Amo really believed he loved Chloe but it was obvious in the 3rd book that he was just infatuated with her. Lucca said it best, "You will never deserve her.” It was harsh but it was reality. Amo would not have been able to handle Chloe. He sincerely believed she was in a car wreck and that’s what caused her scars and traumatized fear. Poor guy never stood a chance. Hopefully he gets his own book and finds his special someone. Adalyn perhaps…?

Caruso vs. Luciano

The history between the two mafia families the Caruso’s and Luciano’s was briefly explained as well as tying in with Chloe’s past. Whether this is pure genius by the author or laziness I’ll let you decide, I was just happy to get some sort of conclusion. It does seem that with the Luciano family introduction more characters have come into play as well as a new pact which will tie the families together forever. I don’t think this is the last we’ll hear of Dominic, Angel, and Matthias.

Overall

This book really seemed to flow much smoother than the last. I loved the concept of the “captor/prisoner” storyline, it seemed to work best with this couple. All the side characters are pretty lovable in this book with exception to Vincent and a few others who don’t really have much of a part. Seeing Maria again was enjoyable it feels like forever since we last saw her. I’m really looking forward to her book since she is the complete opposite of the other heroines. I liked seeing Dante take on more of a role as mob boss in this book too (yup, I’m crushing). The writing concept was great, Sarah did a great job at describing the growing love between Lucca and Chloe. Apart from a few editing errors, this is definitely my fave out of the series so far.

Some things I didn’t like… 1. The book was painfully short. I want more!
2. I could do without the poems. Just give me a normal chapter!
3. Chloe's parents...why exactly were they such a-holes? Just because?

Anyway that’s it for my review, I will leave you with my favorite line from the book. It’s nearly subliminal but speaks volumes of Lucca’s love for Chloe.

Rating: 4 1/2 freakin' stars

I have a confession to make.

I was team Lucca from go.

Yes! And Lucca Caruso did NOT disappoint me.

This was total insta-lurv on Lucca's side. I don't have anything against Chloe but she never stopped being a victim. Perhaps her brokenness touched a need inside of Lucca to protect and cherish. She's no Meg Corbyn that's for sure. *sigh* And Lucca is NO Simon Wolfguard.

(See this book Written in Red (The Others, #1) by Anne Bishop to reference these characters)

Lucca deserved his happy ending and it was more than a pleasure watching him in action.

Another point is there was a very diverting plot twist. Great job, Sarah Brianne. I had my suspicions but she threw me for a loop. Love it when an author outwits me. Good stuff.

Well, I've got new supporting character favorites out of this story.

Sal: Well, I see the makings of an amazing book featuring this guy. He is a dreamboat.

Maria: I learned a little more about this mafia princess and I can't wait to see what the future holds for her. She freakin' rocks! (yes, I know I mentioned her as a fav in my previous review)

Drago: Another top dog who deserves his own book. Can't wait to see if it happens.

I don't know about Angel (Made Men) being something I want to read. I may skip over it. We will see.

In the meantime, I read this book in two days non-stop and would have finished sooner had it not been for work and other demands on my time.

Again, skip over Chloe and purchase Lucca you will be happier. This one has fewer flashbacks and repeats. My only wish is that the author would cease writing poetry in place of a chapter. *shudders* or let someone who is a poet write the poetry for her. Some writers DO NOT make good poets. Just saying-

All things aside, this was worth reading. I would reread this for specific scenes alone.

Lucca is a beautiful monster!

This is hard to review without spoilers. I definitely loved this book but it was completely unexpected and it flipped every expectation of what I wanted to happen from previous books. I didn’t like Lucca prior to this book, and I was completely rooting for Amo getting together with Chloe. I mean Amo is a beast and a gentle giant but also a killer, but not quite the psychopath that Lucca is.

Lucca is basically stalking Chloe, then he kidnaps her but you have to read this because he is truly saving her in so many ways and though he is a psycho, he is great with her. It is so good.

It was never a good thing to see Lucca dressed in a suit and tie. When the boogieman did put on his black suit, it always meant one thing … Death would follow.

Chloe's story finally. And its so good. Love everything about it.
It was disappointing to see Amo as Lucca saw him. I hope Amo gets his own heroine...someone he's falls so hard in love with that he can't be with anyone but her is obsessed and possessive about her...
I did find how Lucca saw Nero and Vincent amusing. He was right on about their being blind to bullyiing and why that was F'ed up.
I especially liked how Lucca saw Chloe fell in love with her instantly and his take on Amo not recognizing Chloe till he was made to recognize her.

I want more Made Men from Sarah Brianne...need stories on Nero's Sister his little brother also the other Mafia family...3 heroes I think the twins and the new leader of their family.

I'm greedy and want more Made Men....

3.5 "Lucca" stars

Book 4 in the Made men series is about Lucca, the underboss of Carusso family, the scary one…the one they call the boogieman.
Lucca was born with a dark side

The only emotions he ever felt were when he cause pain

Until the day he saw her face. Chloe

He was intrigued by her features and especially her scars. He saw beyond them and she was the most beautiful creature he ever laid his eyes upon. And the dices rolled. It was done. Sealed for Lucca.

He watched her for seven months, waited, baited, prepared. And then he set his actions into motion.
You're mine, Chloe Masters. You have been since the moment I saw your scarred face. You just didn't know it.

The freak and the boogieman

It turned out they needed each other.

Chloe is broken inside from the age 14 when she was taken by a monster and tortured leaving her with deep scars on her face and the rest of her body. She's detached and scared of everything, most of all human's touch. And Lucca with his darkness looming in him waiting to come out, finds a sort of a piece in dwelling with the ruthlessness of his psyche. He will help Chloe to overcome the fear of touch but first he will set the rampage on those her caused the state she's in.
My salvation will come as I lay my hands upon her, the very hands that have taken the life from the bodies of those who have touched her.

The revenge sets far towards the Lucianos, the enemy family and deep into the inner circle of people that betrayed Chloe for money and out of greed…
The connection she felt with Lucca, the inner peace and freedom from the chains of nightmares, both living and dreaming, he set her free…as same as she eased his darkness into a somber.
They both needed one another to survive

I can honestly say that I liked the book BUT I didn't love it. I liked Lucca, he was a psychotic, dark, violent mobster and the author stayed true to the initial characterization I saw in book 1 but the story itself was not interesting enough to make me go wow in any aspect, the relationship between Lucca and Chole was stretched and I didn't quite feel the emotional tingle, not because it came slowly but because it wasn't charged with anticipation, there was no build up of emotional tension, other than Lucca carried it alone, and that just wasn't enough to pull through for both of them.

The other thing was the lirical narrative nature of storytelling. Usually that kind of style works fine, especially in paranormal and fantasy genre when the story needs to flow as it reveals the mystified plot. Here it doesn't flow, it „lingers“ and that's just not quite what I have in mind while reading a mafia book. The actions sped up a bit towards the end but still it didn't manage to lift up the general impression of „slow“ motion, slow pace, slow narration…and sometimes I even had a problem of tuning in to some of the chapters, they seemed like a fragment of a thought that author wanted to implement into the story for emphasis BUT I failed to uncover the emphasis on what exactly.

All in all, it was a solid read and I'm sure each of you will be able to find his/hers piece of the story if not the whole thing, for themselves to enjoy

This was actually way better than the previous fiasco, BUT only because of the main character, my psycho Lucca, he delivered, the rest of it is debatable...

And *sigh*, dammit seems like all i do lately is fucking sigh!!!

btw, I STILL don't like the guy on the cover :/
