"What happened to you? Are you lost? Is it too late? I don't know how much more I can take, but I promised you so very long ago, I would stay."
Sam and Tobie wake up on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere, with no real memory of how they got there. It is up to the two to put their growing dislike aside long enough for them to get home. Sounds easy enough, but when you throw in an all powerful queen, a creature from the void with its own agenda, and many other oddities along the way. Will Sam and Tobie have what it takes to get home in one piece or will the price for freedom be too much to pay.
I'm going to say that this book was pretty good. There were a few holes in the plot, a little bit of skipping around by the narrator (not on purpose as far as I can tell), and a few other things. I would say that it's a decent first book for an author and I hope Mr. Yellick is able to create more worlds. Technically, there wasn't a name for the world Tobie and Sam were in, but it was very interesting. I think the author could definitely be a top author if he works on his writing a little, concentrates on storyline a little more, and stay on one place for more than five seconds.
So, the book was pretty good. I wish Winston Yellick all the luck in the world, because we need gay-themed books that teenagers can read.
So ideally this pup would give into the void a 4.5 but I'll go with 5. It was amazing, I never read the previous version, but I can promise this one was good. Still could use a bit more editing, saw a few errors here and there. The world itself was so vast and engaging even though you only get to see snippets. The cherecters and daioluge felt real. I cried in public at parts. I feel like this should be a movie or tv show. As a disclaimer this is a book about abuse, I won't say what kind, and while slow going and subtle there is a gay love aspect between the main characters. I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. Mr. Yellick is an artist with words, and I look forward to his future works.
