Even When It Hurts: Seventy Times Seven by D.A. Kelley is an African American novel that shows how hard life can be. The characters struggle just like the rest of us. Choices are made. Sometimes more often than not, they make the wrong decisions. This, then leads them to instant regret. A torn relationship and insecurities. Taking the steps to accept, forgive, and move on will be hard. If they can forgive where will that leave them? Anger, lust, and evil planning are just a few things keeping the characters apart. But what God pushed together, might be fixed...or not. D.A. Kelley wrote a book that all women can relate to...even most men. We all have had something similar happen in our lives. I enjoyed how she combined real life and issues like mental illness into an entertaining read. Overall, I recommend to to readers everywhere.

Loved it

This was a great book. Loved Claude and Maxine. Geneva was a total nut case. A lot of problems could have been avoided if there was better communication between the main characters. But that's what made the book so interesting. Great job DA . Thanks for sharing.

A good read if I say so myself. Claude and Maxine weathered the storm the devil put in their path by giving it all to GOD. They faltered along the way, but they overcame.

Forgiveness is hard, but it frees your spirit and is pleasing to God. I'm happy that Claude and Maxine learned to communicate. Communication is needed on any relationship.

I think it was just an okay read. I skipped some pages here and there. I liked the storyline but it was a little slow getting to the juice and once it got there it was pretty anticlimactic

Wow! Awesome Read

This was my first opportunity to read the work of D.A. Kelley....and wow what a rich read it was. It has been awhile since I found a novel that made me selfishly hide out with my Kindle and read for hours until I finished. This book was filled with drama, comedy, real-life challenges that plague families dealing with Mental illness. This book allowed me to experience so many emotions simultaneously. I loved the characters. I look forward to CeeCee and James' story as well as Lynette, Terrell, Van and even Geneva's. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys excellent story-telling.

Enjoyed this book from beginning to end. We need to learn to forgive one another even though we don’t want to. Maxine and Claude was engaged for over a year. Claude was friends with Geneva, but Maxine believed that Geneva wanted to be in a relationship with Claude. Geneva wanted to be with Claude so bad, she was willing to do whatever to get rid of Maxine.
