Rate this book
The legacy of C.S. Lewis is explored in this wonderful work. C.S. Lewis transcended all literary, philosophical, and religious boundaries. A world-renowned scholar of medieval literature at Oxford University, he wrote and lectured in such clear direct language that the readers are able to fully comprehend the truths he extolled. One of the most creative intellectuals of the twentieth century, he was the author of many classic masterpieces and, two generations after his death, Lewis continues to be numbered among our best-selling authors and our most influential thinkers.

Interesting and concise, this intro to the life and thinking of Lewis delivers. Chapters are brief, only two to four pages, but cover a lot of ground quite well. Concise and accessible. Whether you are a hardcore fan or only a little familiar with this great writer, you will enjoy this one.

A great concise summation of key events in Lewis' life and the major themes of his writing. Very easy read, and a good prompt to read or re-read many of Lewis' writings.

A very good introduction to C.S. Lewis life and thought. Filled with what are essentially vignettes or devotionals dealing with a wide variety of ideas and concepts that Lewis dealt with in his writings. A great introduction to what C.S. Lewis had to say about many things.

It's the first biography of Lewis that I have ever read, so I haven't anything really to compare it to. It is well written and interesting, though perhaps it does not delve as deep as it might possibly into the life of someone so utterly genius and amazing. I enjoyed it simply because I learned some interesting things about Lewis's life that I didn't know before, but I'm in no position to recommend this over any other Lewis biography...not yet. ^^

I am planning to read several of C.S. Lewis' books this year, and I read this book as a short introduction to his life and thought. It was perfect for that purpose. I especially enjoyed the biographical portion of the book. The section on his thought was a bit disjointed, reading as a series of short articles on various topics. I appreciated the chronological list of Lewis' works at the back of the book, and am now inspired to read the works I have on my shelves in chronological order.

recently watched "Shadowlands," which I thought was very good. wanted to read a little more about him (even though I've previously read another biography about him too). this one is focused more on what he contributed to Christian thought. very good so far and very simple to read.

somehow I am able to start a book, lose interest, and not care how it ends. I think even though I don't know how this book ends, I realize that C.S. Lewis died...so that's kind of an ending. This did inspire me to read the Screwtape Letters though, so good job book.
