The ultimate guide to bread baking from around the world, including a unique directory of the breads found in every country, and with over 100 easy-to-follow recipes to make at home, from authentic French baguettes and Italian ciabtta to Irish sourdough.
This wonderfully photographed book is about half a mini-encyclopedia of breads from around the world (heavy on European breads), and half a collection of recipes for some of the breads discussed in the first part of the book. I haven't cooked anything from the book yet but I have a bunch that I'm excited to try. It's a British publication, so there are some oddities, but measurements are given in various ways and I don't think it would take much work to make these recipes a success in an American kitchen. Bread!
Love all of the photos in this book, and all of the recipes I've tried have turned out perfectly. I wish there had been a recipe for hamburger buns, though. They are mentioned in a section of the book, but no recipe was provided.
