Ethan Davis just inherited one of the most successful record labels in the country—a dream come true to any neglected son. If only he didn’t have such a strong hatred toward music.
Paige Teller is running, dying her hair and changing her name to escape the giant mistake she made back home. The internship at Broken Records was the perfect place to start over, even if the new CEO has a giant stick in his ass.
As Ethan tries to navigate the waters of running a company, Paige fights her way up the corporate ladder, yearning to prove herself. Using each other as a distraction softens the increasing amount of stress, but when a disgruntled employee starts a media frenzy, Ethan and Paige have to work together to save the label.
CASSIE MAE is the author of a few hundred—okay, maybe not that many—books, some of which became popular for their quirky titles, characters, and stories. She likes writing about nerds, geeks, the awkward, the fluffy, the short, the shy, the loud, the fun.
Since publishing her bestselling debut, Reasons I Fell for the Funny Fat Friend, she’s signed several Romance titles with Random House Loveswept, and founded CookieLynn Publishing Services. She is represented by Sharon Pelletier at Dystel & Goderich Literary Management.
Along with writing, Cassie likes to binge-watch Once Upon a Time and The Flash. She can quote Harry Potter lines quick as a whip. And she likes kissing her hubby, but only if his facial hair is trimmed. She also likes cheesecake to a very obsessive degree.
You can stalk, talk, or send pictures of Luke Bryan to her on her Facebook page.
Broken Records is written by two of my favorites; Cassie Mae and Theresa Paoleo, so even before it was released I knew I was going to buy and read it. Again, I find myself with a book that may not qualify for my blog due to sex and I’m going to be one hundred percent honest and say that I can’t remember if it was more emotional or graphic (I tend to let the emotional slide for the blog, though I always make sure to mention it), it’s been at least a month since I read this book…I’m EXTREMELY behind on my reviews. So I’m playing it safe and leaving this exclusively for Goodreads and Amazon.
What I Loved: The growth of Ethan’s character. He started off as a rich, spoiled playboy of a character, but watching him stop trying to grow into his dad’s shoes and making his own way with this newly inherited business was…well, funny most of the time. I also enjoyed the passion between him and Paige. There was a scene where she said or did something and he looked up from his desk at her…let’s just say I could picture this look exactly ::swoon::…these ladies know how to write chemistry, that is one hundred percent truth.
I also loved Paige, from her first hilarious encounter with Ethan to her strong personality and her inability to stay away from Ethan. I loved her back-story with her ex and best friend, and how it played out through the this book as well. Many times in romances you have books where the entire thing is focused on the two MC’s and a lot of the back-story is just fluff. In this case, I enjoyed what was happening around our characters just as much as I enjoyed the relationship developments
Not So Much: While I feel like Ethan’s complete aversion to hearing music was starting to subside, but it seemed to be such a prominent issue, I wish it would have been flushed out and resolved a bit more. I’m glad it was Paige who started to pull him from it, but it seemed like it could have been an even stronger connection point for them. But maybe this is just me trying to guess what was going to happen and being wrong.
The Verdict: Cassie and Theresa’s ability to write such amazing characters that are so real you think you really know them has always been something that has stood out to me as a reader. I loved seeing these two talents come together and create – bringing both of their strengths to the table. The humor and the romance were just a the right mix in this book, and as always the story is one that I truly enjoyed.
CASSIE YOU NEVER DISSAPOINT ME! And thanks to this, I'm definitely picking one of Tessa's books now.
I cannot tell you enough how much I love this book. I LOVE, adore this book. Ethan and Paige are great characters, I fell in love with both of them. Reg and Pepper, too! You just can't help it.
This story is about auto-discover. Ethan and Paige lost themselves due to different reasons. They didn't see themselves worthy of what was dealt for them. Someone took their spirit and flashed it down the toilet.
But they brought themselves together. And how they did it was a beautiful thing to read.
I always enjoy well-developed characters and this was IT. Nothing was rushed, it all flowed so naturally. You connect with every character because it all feels so real. And that's something that's a bit hard to find when you pick books in this genre.
I have no complaints, really. I really enjoyed their story, Cassie's and Tessa's writing and the happily ever after.
I cant tell you why it has taken me so long to read this book as it has been sitting on my kindle since it released. These are 2 of my favourite authors especially when they write together. I think i read the back and it didnt quite appeal to me at the time but well i should not have waited.
This is an amazing book so well written and the characters are developed at the perfect pace. Paige... what can i say this girl the way sge talks about music made me fall in love with her a little. The way she described how music feels to her wraps around her heart... Ahhhhh it just got to me and made me want to appreciate it just as much. I love my music and alot of different types but i can honestly say i need to listen to more classics. Maybe we could get a playlist for this book so i can listen to what they both liked. Ethan had such a good heart and he just put up a front to have people respect him like they did his father when he should have just been himself from the beginning. Deep down he had as much love for music as Paige had he just needed someone to show him again.
cannot wait for the next collaboration of these 2 authors.
4.5 stars for Broken Records by Cassie Mae. Paige Tellar is an intern and recently moved to LA after a horrible breakup. She is now an intern for Davis Records. Ethan Davis just inherited the record company after his father’s death. HE was known as a playboy who knew nothing about the business and now he has to run the company. The problem with him running a record company is that he hates music . This is were Paige comes in , she loves music and wants to help Ethan . They soon develop a relationship , and Paige is the only person who believes that Ethan can run the company. This was a great romance . I loved the taboo of it being boss/employee. This book has everything we all love when it comes to romance novels. I would recommend this to anyone who loves a feel good romance.
Ethan just inherited his dad's record label and is now the CEO, but he doesn't like music anymore. Paige had changed her appearance and is trying to restart her life as an intern at "Broken Records". Their first meeting goes... absolutely horrible. Paige fears she's going to screw everything up, until she meets Ethan again in not the best of circumstances and the tables are turned. But she sees him as respectful, not just as a spoiled kid who inherited his dad's company with no experience. Paige almost likes him. They begin to bond as she tries to coax his past out. But her own past catches up with her, creating more a mess. They both have to find out how overcome their past to move on.
I had a bit of trouble with Ethan and Paige. In the beginning, I really didn't like either of them. I struggled a bit to get past that, but I did really enjoy them once they both stopped being so stubborn and rude to each other. It was a really good story!
This story was so great real sweet I loved the characters Paige is my type of girl she's a fighter. Ethan is a sexy man and they are perfect together. The only thing I wanted was more of a epilogue to know more of after especially in her POV. Other than that this book was perfect.
I really enjoyed this it's a great story. I loved the characters and the dual POV with Ethan and Paige works really well. One of the things I enjoyed most was that Ethan isn't the typical Alpha male he is a playboy but with lots of insecurities that make him more believable and Paige has more depth to her than a lot of other romance female leads that I've read.
