Amber used to love the wild. It had always felt like home. Now, that's all changed. After being knocked unconscious and abducted during a camping trip in the Californian Redwoods, she's found herself tied to a tree, bleeding, hungry and facing three deranged, filthy perverts with a mind for torment. But that's not the worst thing about Amber's day, and rednecks aren't the worst thing a girl can encounter in the wilds. There's something else out there in the woods. Something more terrifying than any redneck. Something that only comes at night. And it's getting near dark...
In Book 3 of his acclaimed Razorblade Candy series, Kyle M. Scott takes his readers on a tense, fearful ride through the untamed American wilds, where there's no one to hear you scream.
Kyle M. Scott is a horror author from Scotland. His works include: Devil's Day The Club Aftertaste Where the Dead Ones Play A Better Life Razorblade Candies Consumed & Dark Island.
He enjoys chatting with his readers, and can regularly be found on social media, despite his somewhat tenuous grasp on technology.
Amber is caught by a group of hicks (Flanegan, Scott and Cole) and tied around a tree. Do they plan to rape her or do they have something else in store? What about her two girlfriends? Things turn sinister when "Roland" turns up. Will he save Amber? What about punishment for the three hicks? Last and least, what happens to her girlfriends? Another extremely well done novella by this author who comes up with a quite unusual moral and denouement. You might have read a lot of campfire stories but I'm sure none of it goes like this here. Liked it a lot. Really recommended!
The Wild: A Campfire Tale is the 3rd Candy ever so sweetly served up all rich and smooth straight from that delicious and decadent head of Kyle M. Scott. Yet again, he has dished out a savory confectionery blend that is a stark 180 from the other two; Love Lies Dead and VHS. Actually, none of them are even in the same circle of circles. This one is an annulus ~ that will make sense later, hopefully....well, it does to me anyway.. Lol
I simply cannot pick a favorite here, they are all so different and perfect in their originality and well crafted wickedness. I've read and reviewed all of them so far and will continue to do so. And I must give accolades once again for the clever name of his series, 'Razorblade Candies' plus that awesome artwork/title placement. Very ~ Avant-Garde. <------ HEEY spelled it right this time.
Any new would be fans out there looking to sneak a peek at this writers genius would be off to a fantastic start with these little novellas, they do not follow each other at all...so they can be read in any order. And I'd be willing to bet dollars for chocolate doughnuts that any Kyle newcomer will whip out that shovel to start digging a little deeper into his warped psyche by uncovering all of his other collections and novels. They are ALL well polished gems, I whole heartily vouch for that!!
Amber and her two friends, Claire and Lyn, are out enjoying some camping, girls weekend style in the Northern California Wilderness ~ a little laid back unwinding from their recent tours of duty. No Ritz Carlton, nail art, or braiding each others hair for this trio. Them's some tough broads, know how to 'rough it' better than most manly men.
Meet another trio, ooooh just some below low brow redneck brothers; Finlay, Scott (hmmm a bit of tongue in cheek author insert wink, wink, eh), and Cole, they know these woods like the back of their cousins hand. They spy these purty gals, concoct a plan in them dimwitted peabrains ,then go ahead and snatch pretty little Amber while she's off mid tinkle, of course....doubt they'd have stood a chance otherwise. They obviously only have ONE thing on their Deliverance minded minds....but it may not be what you think though.... THAT'S IT, that's all you get from this loyally protective slightly manically crazed super fan!! EXCEPT, aaaand I just can't help myself here....imagine my tickled pink delight, when around the 60% mark (yea, cause I'm a bit slow on the uptake...) I realized....something... Can't say what but his avid fans will be bouncing on cloud nine in seventh heaven ecstasy with that realization. Ahhhhh much ecstatic bliss...
Just feel compelled to leave this little tidbit of The Kyle Style here: "I know...I poked around a bit with my 12.Bore. Had to on account a'not being able to believe it. You could'a fit a whole man's head in there and still had to room to light a cigar and invite a friend inside to complain about the smell." NOT gonna tell ya what that's in reference to but our writer rock star's fans will squeal will glee at his unparalleled way with words when you discover the context of this particular scenario.
And as always; extremely well written, no typos or garbled grammar, fun and devious characters, tense situations, graphic goodness, word play, daaark humor, aaand as usual....you won't know what the hell is going on until he's good and ready for ya!
Bring on the 4th decadent truffle Mr. Scott!! You sure do know how to tease a gal with a release....date. I'm so curious of how many he has planned? Obviously that deep dark imagination of his is vast and boundless. I would LOVE for these to eventually be grouped together in hardcover treeborn editions. I'm gonna start saving my $$ now. I will NEED them in my growing collection along with his entire library thus far, of course. They will all be mine! :D
Oh Oh Oh and I hear he has yet another one coming out real soon, a new NOVEL this time, which is also a tie in to another beloved and adored Scott storyline. VERY VERY anxious for that one as well. The waiting is excruciating, which is his plan all along...I'm quite sure. I LOVE it so much when my favorite authors cross over their characters and storylines, it's very clever and a real treat for the fans, so.... keep weaving those yarns together Kyle, them interlocking threads are turning out to fit me like a glove.
If Bigfoot and The Creature From The Black Lagoon had a baby, while The Bighead had a baby with The Toxic Avenger, and those two babies had a baby of their own... THAT is what is lurking in the California Redwoods.
Full review to come - I made a lot of notes in this 59 page story :) Plus - I heard a rumor that Kyle M. Scott leaves chocolate (#RazorbladeCandy) on the doorsteps of those who review his work. #RazorbladeFairy?
