Unbearable #2

Love was something I never thought to experience. Especially with the title I carried as Master to suicidal men and women. But then came Lydia. She was everything I wanted, and everything I thought I’d never have.

When Death sank its hooks into her and she stood on that cliff ready to die, I was willing to risk my life to save hers … and I did.

Nearly dying may have delayed my need to help her, but months later, she was back on my radar. I found her, and there was no escaping what I planned. Death might still be trying to take her away from me, but little did He know, Lydia was MINE.

WARNING: THIS IS A DARK EROTIC ROMANCE AND CONTAINS DISTURBING SITUATIONS, EXPLICIT SEXUAL CONTENT, AND VERY GRAPHIC LANGUAGE. (Includes EXTREME BDSM themes. If you're not comfortable with this, DO NOT read this book!

3.5* STARS!

Alaska Angelini is one of my fave dark romance author. It would be great if you read Unbearable first because the characters has connection. This story about Jaime, Master's apprentice or sort of. He was saved by Sevastian from his suicide tendency in the past. Jaime is attracted to Lydia Mills. A broken girl whose a cutter (cut herself) and desperate to die because her life is nothing. She's a drug addicted because her ex-husband forced it. Lydia failed attempt to suicide brings her attention to Jaime, the man who saved her.

description

Fate isn't done with Lydia and she was 'introduced' to Jaime. His method is a bit unconventional (you'll know what I mean if you read Unbearable). Almost half of the book, I suffered with Lydia's sadness and sorrow. Jaime works so hard to bring her back, to give her hope to live but Lydia continued to have breakdown. It was frustrated and I know this isn't easily gone. Time heals everything. Jaime thought he could save Lydia before her suicide tendency come again.

description

She was desperate for love and adoration and Jaime show her everything because he likes her. It was an insta love because I couldn't feel the chemistry between Jaime and Lydia. I think it's because they're both are victims so they feel connected somehow. Jaime prove that he always be there for her even he isn't trust himself near her. His needs for Lydia is growing strong but he wants Lydia to get better and move on with her life. Overall, this is a great story about survival. It wasn't an easy read because the story was so dark with hopelessness. Lydia is so lucky to have Jaime. Maybe the method was over-the-top but it proved works for them.

Insufferable is another great read from Alaska. Alaska is as always such an awesome storyteller. Her characters always pull me in, always gives me all the feels and this one was no exception.

Lydia is done. Done with the pain, the heartache, done with life period. It is time for her to end her misery. And when I say you feel her pain, its more than that. Reading it I felt like I was experiencing her anguish, her heart crying out for relief that I could understand why she was doing what she was doing. What she doesn't expect is Jaime.

"It was odd that in the face of death, I'd take comfort in that. I'd been running away from intimacy of any kind for so long that now I was taking solace in the stranger's determination to save me. But I wasn't afraid of what was happening. Not for me. Only for him."

Jaime wants to help her. Help her choose life. Help her choose death. Its a decision that Lydia has to make but to do that she must work with him. Relinquish her rights. Her being his slave. Him being her master.

"Too bad. Your life, your choices on how you live it, doesnt exist anymore. You're dead baby, just like you wanted. I make the rules. From here on out, I'm your Master. This can be heave or hell. The outcome will depend on you."

But they were not expecting for there to be such an intoxicating, explosive, chemistry between them. He knows what it is like to want to give up, and the determination he has to see this through is so commendable. You cannot help but fall for Jaime.

"It was a balance. One I had. Where I was kind, I could be cruel. When I wanted my new slaves to choose life, I was ready to show them death. Everything was yin and yang. And for over a year, I saved more slaves that I could possibly imagine when I began."

Lydia cannot help but be overcome with so much emotion, she doesnt want to feel, or think but she has these thoughts and feelings. But is what she is feeling real? Does he really want to help her?

This story will pull you in so many directions. Just all the feels. I loved the secondary characters just as much. Diane, Sevastian, and Ms Jo brought so much to the story, never over powering.

Im a big fan. I cannot wait for more!

that's what it's all about. All the choices in life should be based on what YOU want, what helps YOU , not how society dictates. And THAT is the crux of the story.
Jaime is the new Master , who goes to every length to save Lydia. He's a suicide whisperer . Lydia is over the edge already, ready to end her life because her drug additions, her depressions, her sadness and anxiety disorders that have enveloped her . She is gone by the time Jaime gets to her.
Jamie as a true Master who does everything in his power to help her, Literally jumping off the cliff after her, kidnapping her, forcing her to face her fears and demons nd then distancing himself from her.....so she could survive.
Their path is hard !! Full of tears and pain and frustration and Betrayal

"The easiest way isn't always the better way "

But all this is pointless if it doesn't come from 'within' the Slave. She has to fight her urges to harm , urges to end her life and urges to fall back in the comfortable smog of depression and self pity.
In the process of healing with the help of Jaime and then Sevastian , she finds her inner strength .
That's what the story is about. It's written brilliantly, sometimes giving a Deja Vu impression - Sevestian and Diane story .
But the feels are there, the angst is there and a small fire of hope is still there in the darkness of Death

"No one ever said Life was easy, or that true love didnt come at the ultimateprice. It took facing Death and almost causing another for me to appreciate how fragile each of us was"

Life is Insufferable for all of us at any given time , but what we need to do to survive is within us .a constant battle between what is and what should be !!

That is what you need to hold on to -Truths, not assumptions. Speculation gets us nowhere , and half the time we're wrong. The torture we bring to ourselves over what - ifs is more damaging than reality will ever be

I would give it 4 stars but the ending had me crying, it touched me , so an extra star for MsJo and her cookies !

I'm at a loss for words and can't adequately explain the depth of my feelings about reading Alaska Angelini’s Insufferable. Never have I felt such connection with a character, nor related to the characters on such a fundamental level as I do with Lydia and Jaime.

“To long for death, when you don’t want to die.”

Throughout the tale; between impossible bleakness, the fight to carry on and the struggle to find a reason to keep going, there is a vein of optimism, a hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

“We sacrifice and we help. We’re stronger than most. We’ve hit rock bottom and we’ve pulled through. Never doubt your ability to heal after the worst.”

Insufferable is a masterpiece of sentiment. Five stars isn't enough to rate this well written, profoundly emotional must read. Do yourself a favor, and buy this gem today.

Five Amazing Stars! Jamie is the Master of the mansion where he helps people who are on the edge between living and dying, to chose life and deal with their mental illness. Lydia is his slave and she is broken and ready to end her life when she meets Jamie. Will Jamie be able to help her and what happens when he wants her to be his? Ms. Angelini writes a fantastic story and she deals with a very difficult subject: Mental Illness and Suicide. I was captivated from the first chapter to the last and I thoroughly enjoyed it! I have read books by Ms. Angelini before and I am looking forward to see where she takes us next! Be advised this is a dark romance and there are subjects that may be triggers. Highly recommend!

Alaska Angelini never fails to bring you the feels. I am at a loss for words on the emotional treasure trove that is this book. Insufferable is a spin off from Unbearable, but is a standalone, and can be read on its own. You don’t have to read Unbearable first, but why would you not? It's fucking amazing. I was in love with Unbearable and have been (not so patiently) waiting for Jamie’s story Insufferable. You briefly meet him in Unbearable but he definitely demanded his own story.

Jamie was handed the title of Master to suicidal men and women and he’s good at what he does until he meets his next slave Lydia. After risking his life to save hers she disappears for months and when Jamie finds her again he stops at nothing to save her again even if she doesn’t want to be saved. I freaking loved Jamie in his role as Master he was a perfect balance to help his suicidal slaves.

“Where I was kind, I was cruel. Where I wanted my new slaves to choose life, I was ready to show them death.”- Master Jamie

I don’t think there is a book Alaska writes that I do not fall deeply in love with the characters. She has the ability to not only make you see the story play out in front of you but make you feel it as well. Her descriptions of the events in her books draw you into her world where the characters take on a life of their own and demand you feel everything along with them every step of the way. She always manages to find the balance of strength and weakness that the characters need to be a perfect match to each other.

“Bruised. Broken. My life had been nothing but a constant state of self-destruction since I was young”- Lydia

I don’t think I’ve ever connected to characters more than I did with Jamie and Lydia. For anyone that has battled any of the issues she describes in Insufferable you can’t help but feel like you are looking into a mirror and seeing some of yourself in Lydia and Jamie. You can’t help but cry with Lydia while she battles the heavy depression and emotional turmoil she is dealing with. And you can’t help feel Jamie's desperation to help someone who doesn’t want to be helped. Insufferable is packed full of powerful messages to the reader while you follow along in the emotional Journey it takes you.

“My life had been one struggle after the next. Out of them all, I loved this one the most.” - Lydia

“You have no idea how beautiful you are like this - crying, moaning, marked up by what only I can give you.”- Master Jamie

5 stars is not enough for Insufferable to blend such an emotionally powerful read with her own blend of hot as hell romance Alaska brings it every time.

I’ve read and enjoyed the Dark genre now for awhile, I’ve read some cookie cutter dark writers and some not. Alaska Angelini makes the Dark a new experience for me. I didn’t get the chance to read the first book Unbearable, but when I was asked if I wanted to read and review Insufferable I jumped all over it and glad that I did.

This was so emotional, so intense that it the writer continued to pull you in. Besides the dark content, it reminded me of a forbidden teacher/student relationship but with added monkey wrench thrown in.

Jamie just make have bit off more than he can chew, with Lydia. Lydia has a scary amount of determination, when you think you have nothing then why fight? So much pain and loss will mold a person. Jamie know how, his deep down first hand knowledge, his rules will all be tested. All that has made Jamie who he is vs all that is what Lydia is.

Very well written, not only will it touch your heart it will indeed touch your soul. Enjoy

Insufferable is Jaime's story. He appeared briefly in Unbearable and in this book, he is the new Master of the mansion where he helps suicidal people choose life instead of death. His newest slave is Lydia and she proves to be a hard case to crack. Jamie is incredibly different than Sevastian, Jaime is softer where Sevastian is harder. Sevastian is much more intense than Jaime as well. The writing and execution of the story is well thought out and well done. The imagery transports you inside the book which is something this author is talented at. I enjoyed this book and loved getting to know Jaime more. I also enjoyed seeing a bit of Sevastian and Diane.

This was an Ok read for me. I felt the characters lacked growth and development, it felt like they were to totally different people in this book. Especially the Master, I just feel he last all alpha male standings and just became....blah.

He leaves her go, without even finding out how to ever being able to check on her. Then when he finally sends an PI to find her, it just seems like a little to late for me. But it does end with a HEA.

Again, not nearly as good as the first book.

5 stars!!!

Lydia is a woman with a broken soul, living on borrowed time. What she desires the most is to put an end to her constant pain but little does she know that someone has been keeping tabs on her, wanting to put back her pieces together. Jaime is the new master at the Mansion and he soon becomes obsessed with his new project. He starts desiring her and this is against the rules... What will become of the lovers? I really loved their chemistry. Lydia, needing someone to genuinely care for her and Jaime's tenacity to make her whole again.

Alaska Angelini is certainly one of the best dark romance authors out there and this book just cements the fact. Insufferable touches subjects that most would find taboo, hesitant to even mention- suicide and severe mental depression. I really like how the author went about the subject matter. A master demanding complete submission from his slaves in order to help those who have given up on life, giving them a new direction.

This was a somewhat hard story to read since I tend to avoid such subjects myself but I am so glad that I gave this book a chance! Insufferable is a standalone but is connected to Unbearable and I am for sure going to read Master Sevastian and Diane's story now!

Copy given by author in exchange for an honest review.

This book can be a standalone but I would suggest to read Unbearable since we see some of the other characters. Always take the author's warnings seriously especially if you have trigger!!
The story evolves around Jaime and Lydia. Lydia is tired of her life and wants to end it...Jaime knows this since he has been watching Lydia. Jaime almost looses his life trying to save Lydia when she tries to jump of a mountain. As months passes, Jaime decides to find Lydia and wants to fix her.
The story isn't that dark, or at least I'm used and looking forward for BDSM; but there's one dark theme suicide/depression...so like I said take the warning seriously.
Absolutely loved this story! Alaska Angelini never stops to amaze me. Incredible writting and storytelling 5+++stars

Insufferable by Alaska Angelini is a dark erotic romance that follows Jaime, the new Master of the Mansion, who's mission is to help bring those on the brink of suicide to choose life instead, and his new slave, Lydia.

These two characters are so dynamic, complex and bring out so much emotion. I was mesmerized. My heart bled for them during their low moments and cheered during their high moments. Ms. Angelini just pulls you in with her descriptive words and the feelings that she evokes in you as you go on Lydia and Jaime's journey with them. Her words from Lydia's first chapter echoes still for me even after finishing, "To long for death, when you don’t want to die."

Besides reading Jaime and Lydia's story unfold it was great to read about Sevastian and Diane again. If you have not read Unbearable yet, I very much recommend.

Insufferable by Alaska Angelini is a must read and I look forward to reading more by Ms. Angelini.

As always Ms. Angelini does a wonderful job of transporting her readers into her amazing story. As a reader, I felt the emotional pain and anguish that both Jaime and Lydia are going through.
This book is about Jaime, who we met in Unbearable and now is paying it foward and has become the new Master at the mansion and Lydia is his new slave and the woman who he is dying to save. Ms. Angelini brings light to a very serious and sensitive subject which is depression and the different ways people try to handle it. I loved that within all the depression and darkness there was still perseverance, within both Lydia and Jaime. Even though I loved Jamie's story, I believe Sevastian will always be The Master of the mansion. I truly enjoyed knowing more of Sevastian and Diane's story within Insufferable and knowing the close knit family that they all have become.
I for one cannot wait to read more from this wonderful author.

A woman who is in a darkness of hopelessness and heartache. A man who would do anything to bring her back into the light. An amazing story of courage and hope and what a person would do to save the person they love. The storyline is dark at times, there is some rough scenes, the BDSM element is there but what I felt with these characters was true and passionate. A fantastic read...

****spoiler alert****

Holy crap on a cracker this was sooooo good! Mental health matters to check the trigger warnings. You can find them on her web page mad girl publishing.
NOW let's get to the story.

Lydia has had mental health issues for a while. It spiraled out of control and that lead Jamie into the picture. Jamie has been watching Lydia for weeks now. He has learned her patterns and when that pattern changes, he knows she is going to try suicide. He tries everything he can to lead her away from cliff and he doesn't make it. He jumps after her to save her life. However, in trying to save her life he almost kills himself.

After 7 months he finally finds her again. She has changed her name and hair color but he knows it's her. He helps people that have this mind set of suicide. Something is different about Lydia. He is drawn to her and wants her. He struggles with the rehabilitation to help her for his own wants and needs. Tests for both of them will be tough. they both will fail in some way. Jamie will not give up on her.
He is determined to save her from herself.
5 stars for me.
Alaska told a story that I have never read before, and it was refreshing. It was gripping and soulfully deep. It has me in a chokehold. I want to read more of this series.

Lydia + Jaime

I liked that Jaime wanted to save Lydia and the lengths he would go to do just that. I also liked how Lydia's suicidal tendencies were handled... they did not just go away because she fell for Jaime it really showed how deep her emotions really ran.

What agitated me was how much Jaime messed up in Lydia's recovery. I understand they love each other but her recovery should have made him ignore how horny they were. It was just an eye roll moment for me.

I absolutely loved this series!! I did find the second one had less M/s scenes than the first. I loved the steamy scenes in the first and wished they would have continued in the second. Jamie was supposed to be the unforgiving Master, but he turned out not to be. But I still loved the writing and the story and the characters. I just think she missed the mark a little on the second one.

Absolutely powerful

I know this was intended on being a romance novel instead it had powerful impact on me. Hitting a major nerve. Depression can be a debilitating condition. So powerful that it can make you want to end it all, just like Lydia. The words on the pages will haunt anyone who is affected. Thank you...

This book truly made me feel, so much, that I almost couldn't finish it. Not because there was anything wrong with it but because it hit close to home with depression and suicide ideation. This author definitely has a way with words and I would love to know how she came to write such a wonderful book.

Conflicted thoughts

Man i love this Author!! She has an amazing imagination & she gives us her ALL! Alaska Angelini writes such dark love stories, they are not for the faint of heart.
my conflict comes from personal experience & views that aren't conventional. Although, having someone like Sevastian or Jaime to help me through may have helped the process move along easier.
Otherwise, this is the ultimate love story. Jaime & Lydia's story is intense & more loving than some vanilla ones we may know. Many don't understand mental illness, their answer is to walk away from the ill person instead of towards them with open minds & hearts. That's the worse thing you can do, but it's made difficult when the person doesn't want help. Even though unorthodox, having a few places such as Sevastian'9s Wellness Center might just be a good thing.
i know this wasn't written as a reality, sorry i took it so serious. Couldn't help it. It's who i am.
Enjoy!! It's a great love story!!

We met Jaime in Unbearable and in this new book Insufferable, we get his story. He's taken over for Sevastain as the new Master after Sevastian met and fell in love with Diane. This can be read as a standalone but I'm glad I read the other book first and could appreciate Sevastain more in this one.

Jaime has been watching Lydia and knows she's close to ending her life. He makes it to her just as she jumps and nearly loses his life jumping to save her. Months pass with him recovering and wondering whether or not Lydia accomplished what she set out to do. Then he finds her. Jaime is determined to fix Lydia and make her his.

I enjoyed getting to know Jaime and watching him struggle with loving Lydia while also trying to do what was best for her. He genuinely cared for her and wanted her healthy and safe. For once in his life Jaime met someone who made him feel and he desperately hoped he would be successful in not only helping Lydia but also earning her love.

The author warns of some dark themes but I didn't think this story was too bad at all. It's told from dual POVs and ends with everyone happy.

As my first book from Alaska Angelini, I was very impressed with the story and the characters.
Jaime is a Master to suicidal women and men, he has had his eye on Lydia for a while. When she finally makes the decision to end her life Jaime steps in to see if he can help her. Putting his life in grave danger, he saves her, only to find out that she dropped off the radar while he was recovering from saving her.
Months later when he manages to find her, he can see that her situation hasn't gotten much better, and he knows he may be her only hope to stay in this world. And he needs her to stay. Death cannot have Lydia, because Jaime wants her for himself and he will do things he has never done before to make her see in herself, what he sees in her.

Watching the struggles that both Jaime and Lydia go through to battle depression and suicidal thoughts caught me and reeled me in like a fish. While this story may be a trigger for some people, I found it refreshing and believable.

I would love to read more from Jaime, Lydia, Sevastian and Diane. Bravo Ms. Angelini.
