Now that the Spirit Knights' demesne has accepted sixteen-year-old Claire into the order, she only has to convince all its Knights she belongs. Forced into a test to prove her worth, she discovers more than anyone wants her to.
Meanwhile, Justin runs around playing janitor. He made some big messes. Cleaning them up puts him on a new path, one he never imagined his future could hold. All on Thanksgiving.
In this third installment of the SPIRIT KNIGHTS series, Claire thinks she knows what must be done to save herself and the world from the plague of ghosts the Spirit Knights leave behind.
If she's wrong, there may be nothing left to save.
To fully understand this book, I think you need to have read the first two books in the series. I read this book and felt like I was missing a lot. Despite the authors amazing job of describing the people and the places I felt like I was looking for something this whole book. More detail, more explanations which I feel are probably covered in books one and two. What I really enjoyed about this book was the fact that I could actually picture the characters and the scenarios in my mind like a motion picture. I am usually not a big fan of fantasy type books but I found this book to be enchanting and it captured my attention. The basis of the story is that Claire is a knight, though some people think that girls should not be Knights, and she basically takes on the establishment to create a change for the better. Along with her trusty companion, her dragon and her adoptive father they set out with several of their friends to take the palace down. Unfortunately things don't go so well for Claire and as the book ends she has been buried after being killed in the palace. I don't think she's going to stay dead though as the ending foreshadows her being brought back to life and being very powerful. I think I'm going to try and read the other two books to try and get the complete picture of how this young girl became a knight, how her friend became a ghost/spirit, how her family was killed, how she ended up with the people she's with..etc. There seems to be a lot more story prior to this book and I feel like there will be more after this book as well.
This is a overall review for all first three books. I came across the first book by accident I listen to all the books over 4 days. The Narrators where good but the young voices where really whining nothing one can do about it I did enjoy them all. Am halfway the third book and the one thing I can say is, If a 16 year old teenage girl can shake a millennial institution just by being female then they don't deserve the to be called Knights at all. I will finish the series and follow the author I did enjoy the previews books yet the idea that is was all because of a petty man is a little nerveraking.
Got back into this series as light summer reading, and it was. The story was good, but it seemed rushed and jumpy here and there. I enjoyed the delve into the backstory of the mythos.
This is not a stand-alone book; you will need to read the first two to have any idea what is going on, and [spoiler alert] this is not a trilogy, so this does not end with things neatly tied up in a bow. Or even tied up at all. In fact, I'd say that this book really feels like a set-up for the next book more than anything else, which I didn't get with #1 or #2.
Still, overall, I liked it, and will be looking forward to reading #4. Recommended for a good YA modern-day twist on a knightly tale.
What is this crap?! I would not have seen this ending coming from 10 miles away. Not too sure how I feel about this book right now. The build up was great, if a bit rash on the part of the characters, but the ending is all kinds of messed up.
There is obviously going to be a next book.. but not one atm to jump into, which makes it worse. Perhaps book 4, when ever it comes out, would make this ending worth while and rectify it, but as it stands alone right now, with nothing to follow it up, ugh!
It was fine - definitely a YA book, with a plan to build a persistent universe after this particular story is complete. I wasn't a fan how young=annoyingly bad, inexplicable decision-making but I see what the author was going for.
Listening to this audiobook, I found it a good built up of storyline from book 2. I kept wondering a little if Ann can truly be trusted. I knew something was a mist just wondered which end it would be coming from. The ending of this gets your interest peeked for what will happen next.
I don't think after this book that I will continuing the series. I had a hard time getting through the book and didn't like where the story went in the end.
Warning, this is not the last book! I hate that, although this was one of the best. And heartbreaking! I absolutely hate the ending! Okay, so how long do we have to wait for the next one????
It is a good storyline. I think the author wrote to much into the story by way of explaining. Sort of like a daunting algebra equation.....I got through it to the ending...sort of leaves you hanging tho. Not my favorite in the series tho.
