A short story collection featuring various animals at the start of spring who call Mud Flat home.

The book is divided into chapters, some of which are only two pages long. The stories are quick, and really just provide a glimpse of all the creatures as spring comes and then gets eclipsed by a snow storm. Animal lovers will probably like all the diverse animals featured. There is not a whole lot of plot going on.

Really fun book about different animal experiences in the spring. Organized in short chapters for the aspiring reader. Also good for pre-schoolers who like longer stories. My 4-year-old especially likes the bits about the poor bear who keeps waking up, only to think it is winter. I think the bear sleeps an extra month this time!

I was not really found of “Mud Flat Spring.” I felt as though there were a lot of overstatements used where the author thought he needed to add more texts then necessary. Almost as though the author was writing to be too simple. I would not recommend using this book when teaching about the seasons… I have read way better qualified books about the season spring.

This is a short 9-chapter picture book about spring. It was pretty silly. I love the clever names for each of the animals.

This book made me laugh. The characters are silly and unique. The humor is subtle and makes you think (when you get it, you laugh at the fact that it took you a minute).

Sweet stories about spring, but humor is a little odd and all the cues are very Eastern so not great for CA.
