Six Alaskan Werebear Dens, Eighteen Shifter Happily Ever Afters…meet the Alaskan Den Men!
Curvy waitress Alyssa Parker swore off werebears before she was old enough to date. But in a town like Kodiak where bear shifters far outnumber humans, her pledge has put a major crimp in her love life. Add to that the fact she’s always felt like an outsider in the tightknit community, and it’s no wonder Alyssa wants to move far away from the small Alaskan town and forget shifters exist.
But the dream of escaping seems impossible when her mother leaves town, taking Alyssa’s life savings with her. Adding insult to injury, Kaden Black, the one werebear who could tempt her to break her vow, just moved back to town. And for reasons she can’t fathom, the wildly sexy ex-Special Forces shifter is determined to claim her as his mate.
Can Kaden convince Alyssa that he’s just the shifter to give her the love and family she’s always longed for?
USA Today bestselling author Amy Lamont writes steamy contemporary and paranormal romance filled with quirky heroines, alpha heroes, and always a happily ever after. Whether she’s writing about world-weary billionaires or rugged bear shifters, she loves nothing more than delivering stories with just as much heart as heat.
Amy lives in a small town outside of New York City with her husband, twin daughters and their two rescue mutts. When she’s not writing or hiding somewhere with her nose stuck in a book, she loves spending time with her family, taking in shows in the city, and traveling every chance she gets.
Alyssa is our leading lady, all she wants to do is leave this town and the memories it holds. All bad due to her mother. A shifter chaser who never showed her any love. The final straw though was when her mother stole all her money, packed up their little house and left while she at school. On her own since seventeen she's struggled to make back what her mother stole. And while she did that she avoided Kaden Black's radar a bear-shifter who made her feel things she didn't want.
Her goal is nearly here, she has made back the money that was taken and she'll be able to leave and start school. It may have taken a few years but she did it.
Kaden Black has wanted Alyssa for what felt like forever. He knew the moment he spotted her she was his true mate but she was too young and he knew she had dreams, of college and making something of herself. He didn't want to hold back. He knew there'd be time for them when she came back.
Present day. Kaden is back, he's no longer in the military and he's come to claim Alyssa. He has no idea what happened to her while he was gone. He thought she'd finished school and was back for good. He's on a mission now and his bear is screaming to claim her. He'll shut down any road blocks she may throw his way. He'll protect her and give her the family she's always craved.
I absolutely adore dual storylines that parallel in such a beautiful way! Alyssa has been on her home since the age of 16. She stayed in the town where her mother not only abandoned her, but left her to face the backlash of her reputation as the town "garden tool" among the shifter community.
Not only does Alyssa graduate high school but she worked two full-time jobs to save enough money to attend college. Six months before she's scheduled to leave, Kaden, the were bear who loves her beyond reason and believes she's his mate, returns home determined to claim Alyssa.
Kaden believes he can manhandle Alyssa and she will fall into his arms. Wrong-O, Betty Lou! Kaden has his work cut out for him. He has to prove she is worth more than a simple lay, that she is nothing like her mom, and most important he has to PROVE she is his mate!
Kudos to Amy for not short changing Alyssa's struggle in this story to overcome the stigma of her mother. That struggle shaped Alyssa into a smart, kind, and strong young woman. A perfect mate for the passionate and possessive Kaden!
Kaden Black is back in Kodiak after 7 years of serving with his best buds, they have plans of opening up a security firm, but Kaden plans on being the first customer cause he's been waiting 7 long years to get his hands on his mate....This is the fastest case in history because not 10 minutes later in walks the girl of his dreams and he wonders what the heck she is still doing in Kodiak? She should be away in college, after all, that's why he waited 7 years to claim her to let her make her dreams come true and get a little older too.
Alyssa has plans which she just moved up upon hearing that the bear of her dreams is coming home because she is not going to live up to her mothers legacy who chased after every shifter in town and hook up with one. Her mom may be gone from town, but the memories remain. Could her decision to stay in town this long be for reasons buried deep in her Psyche? Only now time will tell when she comes face to face with said bear.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review
Oh my goodness this was amazing. When I found out that this was Amy's first shifter book at the end I was floored. This book was so well written you would think this author has written shifter books forever. Kaden Black is a ex military man who along with his 3 best friend and ex soldiers have returned home after 5 years. They have decided to open a security business, Kaden asks his friends if their first job could be to find Alyssa his fated mate.
Alyssa is a young woman who has struggled for years working 2 jobs and saving every penny to leave Kodiak to go to college and to get as far away from her mother's reputation.
Btw Kaden Black is an arrogant, alpha male ( but oh so very hot) I don't want to give anything at all away because this book is so great you will want to read it for yourself to find out what happens when Alyssa and Kaden reunite. I know each author is writing 3 books for this series and Mason's book is next which I can't wait to read. But that leaves Gage and Nash I cannot wait to see what happens with those two. I want their story so badly, we got a tiny glimpse to their past in this book.
I Highly recommend this book and this series to anyone that loves hot alpha male bear shifters
Oh my god! Bear to Want: Kodiak Den book 1 was so much fun to read. I loved Kaden and Alyssa. They both have great strengths. Laden showed his strength when he waited to claim her. She showed an inner strength when folks judged her because of her other. Their joining of hearts and minds was fantastic.I can't wait for more.
I really, really, really enjoyed Bear to want. Kaden Black was awesome, just what Alyssa needed. Alyssa did a great job taking care of herself, she deserved to finally have someone in her corner. I can't wait for Mason's book.
**** I was given an arc from Give Me Books Promotions in exchange for an honest review****
What a great short read. I loved the characters in this book and their interactions. Great plot. I'm looking forward to reading the next installments. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Or in this case just bears. This is going to be an awesome series to read. I am looking forward to finding the rest of them I highly recommend this book.
Just loved Kaden. He was one sexy werebear. When reading about Kaden I picture this Alpha Dominate type man. He seemed to have a seriousness about him. He was a take charge type of guy, at least that is who I envision him when reading about his character. I know it had to be hard for him to go to his buddies and ask them for help but he knew who his mate was and his bear was not willing to wait any longer on having her.
My heart truly broke for Alyssa. She was broken in a way and this was truly the fault of her mother. Mothers are suppose to be loving, caring, supportive, and role models but this was not the case for Alyssa’s mother. Her mother was the town werebear whore. Her mother had hope to snag one and was willing to do what ever it took to get one. Her mother was truly the joke of the town so this truly had to be a huge burden and bring a lot of shame to Alyssa. I truly do not feel her mother loved her and found that so sad. She grew up thinking that the town looked down on her because of it. Now I do not remember the story mention Alyssa’s father and have to wonder if she even knew who her father was. Alyssa had dreams and goals, one of those goals/dreams was to get out of that town. But something seemed to be holding her there.
I loved the chemistry between Alyssa and Kaden. Kaden is going to have his work cut out for him to win Alyssa and he is going to have some begging to do as well. They will truly have their battles ahead of them.
I loved the pull that was between a shifter and his fated mate. It was like fate was trying to make it a little easier to have that type of pull there.
Now unfortunately I read book 5 before I read book one. Not saying these books could not be read as a standalone, because they can, but there was something in book one that I wished would of been added in the other books as well. That is the fact in this series if a werebear can change his mate or not.
The hot steamy scene in this series is awesome. The author does not disappoint. I am truly glad I got a chance to read the book.
I'm no stranger to shifter romances, and I'll pick up a novella-length one here and there, but I usually don't end up enjoying them that much because they're a bit heavy on the insta-love and there isn't much story beyond that. But this book packs a surprising punch for something barely over 100 pages!
Kaden has known that Alyssa was his mate since she was about 15. Wanting to give her time to live out her dream of going to college, he decides to join the military and keep his distance before telling her that they're mates. When he returns after leaving the military, he expects Alyssa to be off at college somewhere and plans to search for her, but discovers that she never left their small town.
I think the characters were really well done for a novella. Alyssa had an interesting backstory, and I liked both her and Kaden.
Honestly, my biggest complaint is that I would have loved to have this stretched into a full-size book! The author does a great job with the story, and I wish I could have had more time with these characters.
This is Kaden and Alyssa's story . After so many years being gone by serving his country Kaden is back and wants the one woman that he has dreamed about and is willing to start the hunt for her now . Alyssa almost has enough saved up to leave this horrid town for good and start her dream of going to get her degree . After having to put it off due the her mother and the past nothing will stand in her way . Kaden and his friends have decided to open an office doing security and he already has the first job for them all to find Alyssa . And whom does his friends see ? This is well written and recommended to all !!
Kayden and Alyssa haven't seen each other for years. Now Kayden is out of the military and finally able to claim his mate - Alyssa. Alyssa is attracted to Kayden, but her dream has been to leave Kodiak and go to college. All she needs is enough money. Falling in love threatens that dream. The main characters are very likable and easy to relate to. The romance is stimulating. This is a quick read, perfect for a lunch break or before bed. My one negative note is that there are quite a few editing errors.
Four shifter ex-military guys walked into a bar. Bet you heard that joke before, but it's no joke for one of the shifters to have an argument with his mate who is human. He is in loads of trouble and hands full with his mate.
Doc characters are great an interesting, going more in-depth with the main characters. The scenery is very descriptive & makes you like you're there. The plot is an intriguing. A recommended great read for paranormal readers.
She’s ready to leave town to attend college after working four years to save enough money. Kaden has just returned to town after military service. He and his Friends are opening a security business.
He expected Alyssa to be done with school. He expected to hunt for her and make her his mate. Learning she never left town nor attended college makes his bear angry and guilty.
Were Bear stories are usually pretty quick and bare bones. This book at a little more plot to offer than most.
When Kaden realizes his mate is too young, he sets Alyssa free to spread her wings and grow. Little does Kaden know life has a way to screw everything up and make the best laid lands go down the drain. Bear to want was a great way to start the Alaskan Den Men series. Great read.
This is a good start to a new shifter series. I felt it could have been a bit longer and they could have had more conversation explaining some issues they had but i am hoping that will be covered as the series goes on, as some of the issues involve people from the town and possibly family. I will read the next book and see where this goes.
I love these bear shifter stories. It is fun to imagine hot sexy men being into women with curves and not a bag of ones. The loving and thoughtful way Kaden waited for Allyssa to become of age and never even saw another woman was inspiring. They both completed each other.
Cute tale about a best shifter waiting to claim his human mate.
She was only 15 when he knew that she was his mate, way too young to claim, so he enlisted in the military to keep him away til she was old enough to have finished college. When he came home he got a surprise, and cursed himself for ever leaving her alone.
Predictable plot, but an engaging story. Poor girl living with the sins of her mother. Not able to escape. Werebear wanting her so much that he joined the military to hold himself at bay. His return sets off a chain of events to convince her that does not have to live with those sins. This is a quick, easy, and enjoyable read.
This was a really good book. It moved at a fast pace and kept my attention the whole way through. Kaden and Alyssa have been avoiding each other for years, but it all finally comes to a head and these two have some things to work out.
Great storytelling with lots of twists and turns. When looking for something that can really keep you interested, try this book. It is intriguing and the author has a way of getting you into the story making it a book that you don't want to miss.
I'd have liked this shifter story a whole lot better if the werebear wasn't such a 1950s throwback. I know, I know; shifters get all protective, yada yada. But this felt overbearing (badum-tish) and pushy.
I started this book several times and I've had it in my KU probably about a year. I have LOVED all of Amy's books and this one was no different. That satisfaction of long time yearning is so awesome. Can't wait to read the rest of this series!
Alyssa wants to leave Kodak, Alaska to go to school. When Kaden Black returns home after leaving the military, it’s too late because Alyssa is Kaden’s mate. Kaden is a bear shifter and he has been waiting for Alyssa to grow up. In this book they become mates.
Wonderfully fun and entertaining to read this book. I loved how strong Alyssa was and how caring Kaden was...when he used his head. The ending was just perfect for those two. I enjoyed it start to finish.
Short and sweet - the characters were fun if a little two dimensional at times. It irked me that he seemed to disregard her future plans in favour of his own wants - continually saying ‘You’re mine’ is hardly an excuse for giving up so much when Alyssa was clearly so unhappy.
