After the march on the Vatican by the Islamic State, the radical group begins its push deeper into the European and American Fronts. But when the True Cross—the wooden remnants of the cross Jesus was crucified upon and the holiest of all relics—is stolen from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre by the Islamic State, it becomes clear that the relic is to be bartered to an arms dealer for weapons so devastating that Europe and the United States could be rocked to their very foundations. So when the Vatican Knights are called to retrieve the artifact before the weapons’ exchange can take place, the team quickly finds themselves up against an elite paramilitary group. But can the Vatican Knights retrieve the True Cross in time and return it to the vault above Golgotha Hill? Or will the Islamic State finally get a stranglehold on the American and European states . . . and bring the continents to their knees?
Rick Jones was born and raised in the Boston area and moved to Las Vegas in the early eighties where he graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a degree in English. Currently, he is employed with the state of Nevada in law enforcement, and enjoys traveling, especially to Rome and Vatican City where many of the settings for his novels take place.
Rick Jones is also an avid writer and the creator of the Vatican Knight series (VATICAN KNIGHTS, SHEPHERD ONE and The ISCARIOT AGENDA), and the psychological thriller, THE MAN WHO CAST TWO SHADOWS.
He lives in Las Vegas with his two mini schnauzers, Wrangler and Hobo.
I love this series and this book is so intense! I can't give it 5 stars because of the poor editing. There is a big difference between "yielding" and " wielding ", words that were misused numerous times. The word " throughout " was followed by "out" which was unnecessary. There are many similar errors in this book and in each of the books in the series that distract me when I encounter them as well as verbs that don't match the nouns: singular verbs when the noun is normal. Despite these errors I love the series but I hope the editorial staff will pay more attention to their jobs in the future!
What can I say? I love Kimball Hayden and the Vatican Knights. I’m a military veteran and a Roman Catholic...how could I not? If you enjoy military special operations, mystery, religion, and the oldest theme there is..good vs. evil...give it a try. On to the next in the series!
Rick Jones writes some great stories, but needs a good proof reader. The misuse of words, grammar and spelling errors makes me groan with disappointment too many times to make the read enjoyable.
A story well told with excitement and challenges seemingly without end. I can recommend this book - just don't pick it up before you go to bed because you'll be turning pages until dawn!
Like the rest of the VK series, the stories are entertaining but predictable. My biggest issue with all the books is the vast number typos and errors. Each book is riddled with numerous errors (typos, misused phrases, inconsistent details among paragraphs, etc.) that should have been caught by the author, editors, etc. I guess I expect more from a professional, best-selling author...
Incredibly sad for Shari Cohen . Loosing her whole family in a car bombing before her eyes, how horrible !!!! I hope she lives and maybe can be with Kimball after a proper waiting time of course. Must complement Rick Jones on the quality of his writing and the storylines are so interesting. Thanks, Amarillo Turtle

I have just finished book 10 of The Vatican Knight's series and cannot wait to read the 11th. A brilliant read full of action and a gripping story line with amazing characters.
Kimball does what Kimball does best. He hunts the bad guys and takes them out. Working with a special group from MI5 he and a couple of other Knights do what needs to be done.
