This is a wonderful read that made a grumpy 47 year old woman (me) laugh and cry on a bright Sunday morning. Imagine travelling back to 1984 and discovering your bossy parents as moody teenagers. Imagine, like Beth, you never met your mother and now this is a once in a lifetime opportunity ... all it involves is hiding out in empty schools and furniture shops, deceiving stern railway officials with your mobile phone ... oh, and then there's a ten mile walk on an empty stomach. Should Molly prevent Beth from finding her mother? What will be the consequences? Wonderfully written with a perfect blend of humour and pathos. Highly recommended!

What if you could go back in time, meet the mother you never knew, find out what she was like?

This sweet and touching timeslip adventure explores this 'what if?' scenario, as well as separation and blended families, as best friends Molly and Beth find themselves transported back to 1984.

A lovely read.

Molly and Beth have a very special and close friendship, but living together is the last thing they want. They have to adjust to their new situation though, while also trying to remain good friends. Doing something just for themselves is exactly what they need. They have a plan their parents aren't supposed to know anything about, but they almost get caught. To escape they run into a shop they've never entered before. They don't want to be seen, so use another exit, but it isn't a regular one, they end up in a shopping mall, in 1984.

In 1984 there were no mobile phones and no internet, so Molly and Beth can't use their mobiles. They have traveled to the time their parents were their age and they're on their own. Having an idea of what life was like when their parents were young is appealing. Will the past give them beautiful memories to take back to the present or will it be difficult to survive in a world they don't know much about?

Time After Time is a wonderful story about friendship and family. Molly and Beth have a beautiful bond. They can truly be themselves with each other, which is something incredibly precious. Living together is not something they both wanted, but they make the best of their new situation. It helps that they are friends, but there's still a lot of heartache involved. Traveling back in time strengthens their bond. Molly and Beth need to be inventive, resilient and brave. I loved how they manage to get themselves out of many tricky situations and really enjoyed their story.

Judi Curtin has a lovely heartwarming writing style. She makes her stories come to life in an amazing way. It was great to see the 1980s through Molly and Beth's eyes. They're having a big adventure, but there's also a lot of depth and emotion in their story, which is a fantastic combination. I admired how well Judi Curtin maintains the balance between feelings and fun. Time After Time is entertaining, charming and sweet and I absolutely loved this amazing book.

Fresh and surprisingly funny time travel story for KS2/3 girls

It is clear from the font and colours of the cover that this in intended for a female readership. I hate pigeonholing but with female leads and issues it will appeal mainly to young women.

Two girls, best friends, find themselves unexpectedly living together when their parents (one widowed, the other separated) end up falling for each other and moving in together. Beth's mum died when her daughter was a newborn, Molly's dad has left his family. The two are trying to enjoy their normal teenage lives and after sneaking out one night to a concert, hide in a shop to avoid Molly's mum... where they are quite suddenly sent back in time - to when their parents were teenagers!

It's like Back to the Future with girls, as Beth seeks out her very-much-alive young mother and Molly finds her own mum's assertions about her young life don't quite live up to the reality. And both have to contend with a distinct lack of technology and 'interesting' fashion choices!

Readers will lap up the references to mobiles, Google and the awful fashion styles of their parents'. It's all also set in Ireland so I found myself reading it all in my hear in the accent.

There are some clever moments - how the girls manage to get onto a train in the 1980s with no money. We also have 'meeting' scenes as well, between mother and daughter, that are very well written with just the right amount of emotion and pathos.

It's a very typical structured story with the past and present playing their roles and a finale that readers may not ideally have wanted but one that is both fair and moving.

A good recommendation for girls aged 10-14.

It is present day and Molly and Beth are best friends, then it turns into 1984! There is ridiculous hairstyles and everyone seems to be staring at Molly and Beth. They are scared, don't know what to do and what to desperately go back, until Beth realises that her mother, who died when she was young, was around in the 80's, suddenly they are intrigued into a wonderful adventure to search for her mum.
This book was a lovely read and reminded me of Jacqueline Wilson's style of writing. I would recommend it to children aged 6-12.

At first I found the story about hard to get into. I think it is really more so for a younger person than me but I enjoyed the second half of the book. In the 2nd last chapter I did find it had to figure out who's mother they were talking about with the puppies if you read the book you know what I'm talking about. I don't want to spoil it for those who didn't. The last chapter was my favourite chapter. I'm glad I stuck with the book in the end.

It was so great. The plot is fabulous. I love how the girls go out on this journey. It is sad that they couldn't save her mother. But it had to be right?

Even though this was aimed at a younger audience, I thoroughly enjoyed travelling back in time with them to 1984

I love the cover color and the cover itself, promising summer adventure read.

The book is an interesting story of two friends facing way too much than they ever imagined, but maybe wished and dreamed for... It is the story that makes the girls realize - be careful what you wish as it might bring more than ever, actually, wished or imagined. Both girls, Molly and Beth, are 12 and best friends for ever..., and as if you could ever wish the life brings one event after another and life becomes weird enough when both friends parents decide to start to live together.
Molly and Beth is about to dare a secret event of going to attend the concert Beth is crazy about and what worse could happen when they have been so careful planning the clothing change in wc, walking to the concert avenue and than nearly bumping on mum? How one good thing can lead to nearly a failure? They are about to think fast and hide before being seen..there's only one place Rico's store.
This is the most scariest and creepiest place as a shop with it's assistant..and it's the start of adventure, test of friendship and finding your roots and valuing your family even more than you ever thought about.

I received this book via Goodreads first-reads, thank you!
