At 33, Harrison Graham knew he lucky. His reputation wasn’t the best, but the money he made allowed him to date debutants. It also allowed him to sleep with divorced women who knew the score. Did he want to find real love one day? Sure, he wanted a wife—eventually. He’d give in then to the Graham curse of fidelity to one woman that his grandfather warned him about.
Though it might be 1965 everywhere else in the world, when it came to marrying in Falls Church, things still worked like they had in 1955. He was enjoying his bachelorhood, but wasn’t going to turn into his father, moving from bad marriage to bad marriage after his mother died. Call him crazy, but he honestly believed he’d one day find a true love relationship like his grandparents had.
Until the right one came along, the Honorable Doris Isette Pearson looked like a perfect distraction. She had handled her own divorce and was now on the dating market. Among the members of the Falls Church Country Club, Doris was nearly as infamous as him. The woman also played a mean game of golf and he’d heard stories about her almost going pro.
Her tendency to buck convention as much as Harrison did definitely made Doris worthy of a tumble. She wasn’t his first older woman so the decade difference in their ages didn’t bother him a bit. After all, it wasn’t like he was going to marry the woman. All he wanted was to share her lonely divorcee bed and maybe stir things up at the club with a few mix-gender golf games. He and Doris would both have some fun.
The last thing Harrison expected was to find himself falling for the most inappropriate female he’d ever met.
I am an active dreamer and find writing to be the best way to use my creativity. Needing to satisfy both sides of my brain, I have become a cross-genre author of contemporary, romantic comedy, fantasy, science fiction, and paranormal romances.
I feel blessed that my books appear on bestseller lists for humor, romantic comedy, space opera, and more. I crave laughter from all my readers and focus my attention on making that happen as often as possible.
I love to hear from anyone who has read my books. Each reader is a hero or heroine to me. I am inspired by you.
I loved this book from beginning to end. I loved Harrison in the other books in the Never Too Late Series and loved learning about his and Doris's love story. I loved watching all the obstacles they had to overcome both because of the times and the people around them. Donna has another hit on her hands. If you haven't read the New Too Late Series you definitely should check them all out you won't be disappointed.
I'm so sorry because I can't remember Harrison from the previous books of series. In fact are past four years from when I read the last book and only for pure lucky I discovered Dating A Pro...and I'm so happy for, because Donna McDonna is so good to write beautiful story about love and about women over thirty years old with romanticism and excting sex scenes.Even better because they are so realistic especially for women as myself .In Dating A Pro we read about old way of living, when appearances were so important, but Harrison and Doris follow their mind and heart, and a happy end is their award.
Finally romance novels with female leads that are age 40 or more. Who says romance dies at 30? Certainly not Donna McDonald. Complex characters of substance make her writing even a better read.
Life happened and took me quite awhile to finish it, but what a beautiful way to close the series! No spoilers here, I’ve enjoyed the entire series and this was no exception. Unexpected love with a story of laughter and moments of heartache….just like real life, right?
Another well-written, amusing and refreshing story by Donna McDonald.
Recently divorced Doris is being pursued by the "womanizing" (as labeled by the country club gossips) Harrison Graham. Harrison has perpetuated that claim by dating divorcee's and not wanting to settle down until he finds "The One." Well, Doris is "The One!" Being 10 years younger than Doris doesn't help Graham's case, though. Doris is a successful and confident lawyer that has been spurned by an unfaithful ex-husband. She is cautious to proceed with Harrison with concerns that he will tire of her soon enough and move on.
I was a little concerned when I first started this story. I'm not a big fan of feminist heroines and my fear was that Doris would be staunchly so. Although, if I was an adult in the 60's, I would probably be considered a feminist, as well. Instead, Doris is what I would like to call quasi-feminist. When it came to the June Cleaver's of the 50's, Doris was bucking the system and helping to pave a way for the woman of the 1960's and of today. She was smart, independent, strong, but also sensitive and allowed herself vulnerabilities. In fact, she embraced her vulnerabilities with honesty. I loved that those were some of the major traits that Harrison loved about Doris. I appreciated the honesty between the H/h and that misunderstandings in communication were not points of contention in the story. Doris and Harrison are mature adults who are past playing games and speak the truth of their wants and desires.
This is one of those stories that makes me smile every time I think about it. I simply enjoyed moving along in this journey with Harrison and Doris and couldn't wait to revel in their HEA. When I closed the book, it was on a happy sigh and I couldn't help but think that if this was a true story, their kids would be my age. :) Just a thought.
I received a copy of Dating a Pro from the author in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
If you haven't reread this series now is the time to do so. Or just reread Dating the Silver Fox. It helps you remember everything about Harrison. This book can be read alone BUT if you want a real treat get this series. NOw--this book! First off will age myself as I remember Babe Zaharias very well. She was a fabulous female golf role model. I love Harrison and his antics but love to read about the love of his life. With him already a widow in all the books it was so nice to meet her and fall in love with her along with H. Love has no age and no mind of class although these two match pretty good, except of course, he is...hush....younger than her! Gasp! Not sure if Donna plans to have more books in this series, if not, this is a perfect final book. If there are more books, I will love revisiting these friends as I do when I reread them. Thank you, Donna McDonald for another fabulous book. It seems that each book can not be better but each book seems to be even better! Another hit!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. First, I need to state that I LOVE this series. All the books are standalones but I haven’t missed one. They are hilarious and deal with ‘signs of the times’ no matter what era we are talking about, and I love reading about the different couples. In this one, Harrison and Doris have their back story. They were characters in two of the other books in the series but this time, we learn all about how they found their HEA. I will admit that sometimes I was surprised by Doris’s actions but (unfortunately for me), I feel for her and understand where her attitude came from. I just wanna hug Harrison, although there were times I wanted to smack him upside the head because of how he has acted in his life. Doris’s sister and niece were hilarious; Harrison’s dad was endearing in his own way. I truly enjoyed this back story about these two and reading about the beginnings of their relationship. Very strong individuals, especially for the time. I love this book just as much as I loved all the rest of the series.
I was over the moon to find out Ms. McDonald had written a new book in this series. I have happily read each book and they are absolutely worth reading over and over again! All of the characters in Dating a Pro are described exceptionally well. The well-written dialogue is witty, funny, sexy, and sometimes heart-rendering. I felt like I was right in the mix with them. You just can’t help but love Harrison Walter Graham in 1965 as the consummate gentleman who does his upmost to “catch” the object of his desire…older sexy divorcee, attorney, and golf maven Doris Isette Pearson. A true woman after my heart with her strong will and forward thinking. This story totally captured my attention to the very last page. Well worth five stars!
Harrison and Doris story was pretty good. I enjoyed the year setting but was kind of thrown off by some of the language use for that era. The roles of women and men were spot one since it was set in mid 60's. I enjoyed Doris and Ruth relationship even though they were polar opposites as sisters. It is always like that regardless of the year.
Doris as a character did it for me, she was strong but weak. Loyal with a bit of rebellion. She owned her choices and stood up for what she believed in. Yeah I may have confused you but if you read the story you would understand why I said that. Harrison complimented and tamed her though. She could not resist his persistence or his charm.
This is a great addition to the Never Too Late series theme.
This is the first book I've read by this author and I am looking forward to reading more. Having not read the previous six books in the series was not a problem. I found this one to be a standalone as I wasn't lost or confused while reading. As someone who loves golf, I liked that the book was centered around the game. It was especially interesting to read a golf story set in the 60s. I loved how Doris didn't let society's views of women on the course come between her and the game (or her and Harrison). It was also nice reading a story about an older woman getting the younger man. I want to go back and read the previous six stories now. *I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review.*
I liked this book for several reasons. First, Harrison and Doris were a more mature couple. Second, they were both snarky, funny, and sarcastic. Third, they were both very smart. Fourth, they respected each other. Fifth, although their relationship was all of two plus months, it didn't feel like instalove. And, sixth, they still had a hot, steamy sexual relationship.
This was a quick read, but it was a lot of fun to read. It was a very nice change from all of the twenty something's falling in love. I love the Never Too Late series, and didn't realize I had missed Dating a Silver Fox. I'm going back for that one.
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely and thoroughly loved reading the magical, romantic, and fabulous seventh book in the Never Too Late Series. I received an ARC for an honest review. Harrison Graham has been hit with the Graham curse at the age of 33; he has fallen madly and deeply in love. The woman Graham loves is older, a recent divorcee', and is aware of Graham's tendencies to bed and leave women. Since Doris Pearson understands Graham, she is more than willing for an endless night of pleasure but finds Graham irresistible. Read the highly recommended, beautifully written love story of Harrison and Doris.
I think this will end up being my favorite of this series and I always wanted more of Harrison and Doris's story and boy did I get it. I adsolutly loved it. It was fun to go back in time and see how different things were back there. In some ways they were better and others worse, we see that in this book. Even with it being in the past I still wonders how it was gonna come out and was so happy to read the happy ending. Great addition to a wonderful series. Although if you've never read her books this a wonderful series to start with and it won't make a difference if you start with this one.
I have been so excited to read about Harrison Graham and Doris Pearson's book. And I was not at all disappointed. Harrison thought Doris would be the perfect distraction until he decided to settle down. Little did he know that she would be more than he expected and he would end up falling for her!
I loved this book! Harrison and Doris had me laughing several times throughout this book. Donna did a fabulous job yet again. I was hooked from the first word! Loved it!
This was a great read! Those of you who have read the Never to Late series know about Doris Graham, Harrison's late great love of his life. This is their story. I love Doris, a woman before her time and it was fun to read about the young Harrison. A fun time for fans and anyone who likes to read stories about older heroines!
Can't say too much other than was I waiting patiently for the next in this series and Donna didn't disappoint. I love that she took us back in time though, to tell us the story of Doris, who had plenty of battles to deal with, particularly with her parents. So if you like something a little raunchy with an extra twist, be sure to try this book in particular, but the series as a whole.
4.5 stars. I loved Doris--she's so feisty and wonderful. A woman ahead of her time. I was a young child int he 60's and really enjoyed the trip into the past. I appreciate Donna for writing more mature characters rather than the standard 18-25 year old women. The dialogue between Doris and Harrison is fantastic, especially the arguments. This is a great addition to the series!
Doris enjoys her golf with a passion. So does Harrison, and he has his eyes set on Doris. This has all the earmarks of a match made in heaven. This is a delightful and enjoyable read!
OMG I've been waiting for this book for a long time, it was SOOO worth the wait I loved it :) this book takes you back to 1965 were the never too late story begins with Harrison and Doris :)
