Twisted Bitches

Rate this book
Music pumped into the club; Rock songs of the eighties on this themed night. The dance floor was packed with people mostly in their thirties enjoying the tunes from their younger days. The bar was crowded with groups of friends shouting to one another over the songs as they downed cocktails, pints and shots whilst eyeing up strangers who caught their eye. Not so much a club, more like a cattle market with people looking for drunken fumbles and one night stands with anyone willing. One such customer was Jacob Miller and - although the night was still young - he was already on the way to securing his fun for the evening. He had been chatting up a pretty brunette by the name of Harley for the last thirty minutes after first offering to buy her a drink. She had asked for a vodka and orange. She got a double and the same again when he bought her the second round. She was smiling, she was laughing at his jokes, blushing at his compliments and - unknown to him - planning on how to end his miserable life. By morning, he would be dead and the Twisted Bitches would have taken out another pathetic pig.

From Matt Shaw, author of Sick B*stards and Porn, and Michael Bray, author of the Whisper Trilogy, comes a dark horror with a supernatural twist. Please be warned, this contains extreme violence, sex and horror. Do not purchase if easily offended.

Biography

MATT SHAW was born, quite by accident (his mother tripped, he shot out) September 30th 1980 in Winchester hospital where he was immediately placed on the baby ward and EBay. Some twelve years later (wandering the corridors of the hospital and playing with road kill when he was on day release), the listing closed and he remained unsold, he was booted out of the hospital to start his life as a writer and hobbit – beginning with writing screenplays and short stories for his own amusement before finally getting published when he was twenty-seven years and forty-five seconds old.

Once Published weekly in a lad's magazine with his photography work, Matt Shaw is also a published author and cartoonist. Has to be said, can be a bit of a flirt and definitely, without a shadow of a doubt, somewhat of a klutz.

4 Desperation and Testosterone STARS

description

I hate giving bad reviews, because I always feel like I have to justify myself.

Well, fuck it!

This one didn't do much for me, the story had the natural progression which was exactly what I expected it was going to be. Therefore, it failed to surprise me at any stage.

This is actually more like a 2.5 stars...

For those of you who think I'm harsh on Matt Shaw, let me assure you that I am a huge fan, and it is because of the high quality of some of his stories that I hold him to a high standard.

Not the first collaboration I've read from
Bray and Shaw, and won't be the last.
This was a good, fun read. I thought early on that I'd guessed where this story was going.
Man was I wrong. I mean, honestly, I've never been more wrong.
Couldn't have guessed this outcome in a million years.
Defo worth checking out.

"She Cared About Justice. She Cared About A God She No Longer Believed In And How He Could Allow....."
— Harley's Thoughts

This book was amazing!! I really enjoyed this short story about; fury, frustrations, rage, and the thirst for vengeance. I love when these "2" authors come together, because I know it's going to be wicked! I really enjoyed the dark twist and turns.. My absolute favorite kind of stories. Makes revenge stories more terrifying! The only negative I have; hated the ending!! Highly recommended if you enjoy revenge tales.

I would love to know which author wrote each part because I think both The Matt Shaw and Michael Bray are horror masters! This story had a LOT of twists for me that I never saw coming. Like, ALLLL the twists. I can't really say much about the actual story because none of it is what it seems. Just take my word for it: If you're a fan of either/both authors, supernatural horror, and crazy twists, you'll love the story!

Twisted Bitches. What expectations do you, the reader, have when the title of a book is Twisted Bitches?

Coming into this with dozens of Matt Shaw's books, including all his prior collaborations with Michael Bray, under my belt - I was a bit hesitant. It's a pretty dumb name and I expected a pretty dumb story. That it was barely an hour's read only crystalized the bias I had in my mind. Well, never judge a book by it's (very stupid title and super lazy) cover and all that jazz.

Twisted Bitches has two stories that seem unrelated initially. The first story, happening in real time, involves Harley, an attractive girl in a bar looking for a man. Right from the start we know, based on her narration of the scene, that she does not have good intentions. We don't know why or what she intends to do, but we know that she's putting on an act to pick up an unsuspecting man.

The second story occurs in the past and involves a different woman who finds herself waking up as a captive in a locked room that is incredibly filthy. Why is she here? What does the person who captured her want?

These two tales move back and forth, one chapter to the current scenario, then the next to the prior scenario. We assume the stories will tie together (because this isn't the first book we've read) but, to Matt Shaw and Michael Bray's credit, I had no idea how it would tie together. Your enjoyment of the book likely will hinge on how much you enjoy that revelation. I found it to be very fun and it took a turn that was both gruesome and sad. I expected the first, but was surprised by the latter and for such a short story, I didn't expect any emotional impact, limited as it may have been.

Set your expectations in check. No one-hour read is going to revolutionize literature. But if you're game for a dark tale of vengeance with a few twists you won't see coming, you could consider this an hour well spent.

This is the third Matt Shaw / Michael Bray collaboration I have read and out of those two previous books - "ART" didn't work for me, but "Monster" was great, so this book could have gone either way.
Fortunately though, it is very very good. Its a book of two story-lines (makes sense if the book is written by two people), and one of those story-lines has obvious similarities to "Monster" and is pretty nasty, and the other story-line? you don't really know where its going to take you until you get to the end..

Another good tale. Not as gruesome as I'm used to but it was seriously depraved! Can't wait to read the next!

A twisted story

I enjoyed this story of a prostitute with a twisted unique ability to seek revenge on her twin sister's killer.
