#2 in the Incubation Trilogy. This YA SF series is a fine coming of age story in a dystopian near future. Only the age of the main characters peg this novel as a YA, for the most part the characters could be any role appropriate age. The protagonist, Everly Jax, turns 17 at the beginning of this entry. Although there is a gripping plot and plenty of action, it is the inventiveness and descriptive language that attracted me most. The novel ends with the reader wanting to know more and ready to dive into the concluding novel of the trilogy - Regeneration.

This second part to the series has great action scenes that had me gasping out loud. I'm thoroughly invested in Everly's journey and the revelations in this book had me on the edge of my seat. Purchasing book 3 now! As usual, a great cast of characters, the plot is unique and engaging, and I actually care about the characters and want to know what happens to them all. That's just good writing. I love that the characters are diverse too! Aside from some spelling errors and grammatical mistakes, this book is solid and doesn't have enough errors to distract you from the story which is a major plus!
For a story about a girl who works in a lab trying to find a way to kill carnivorous crickets, this is pretty entertaining. A previous reviewer described this trilogy as eating potato chips. Bet you can't stop at just one. Definitely getting the last book to see how it all ends.
The second installment was even better than the first!
There was never a dull moment in this book - full of action and excitement. This book was a real page turner and I finished it in a matter of hours! I definitely wouldn't start this in the evening or you will be up all night!
The second book in the incubation trilogy did not disappoint. Tons of action, betrayal and heart stopping reveals. Finished the book in one sitting. On to the third!
Great twist on the dystopian / apocalypse genre! Didn't think I would like it but it surprised me! It's action packed with just enough romance to satisfy the romantic readers also
Very enjoyable series so far. I've loved the twists and turns of the story, the history of the land, and the development of the characters. Looking forward to reading book three!
Realistic idea. Instead of inventing a future that could never happen, this trilogy frightens me with true possibilities. The characters are well rounded and varied.
I’m really enjoying this series. The plot twists kept me guessing throughout this book. I love that the science details make the story more authentic. I look forward to reading the last book in the trilogy!
See review at Regeneration for the whole Incubation Trilogy. I found this Trilogy completely absorbing with emotion, teenage angst, loyalties, betrayals, ideals, surprises and science. What more could you ask for? Oh, and love!
So much going on in this one. Usually the second book of a trilogy kind of drags but I found that not to be the case here. There was actually quite a bit of stuff revealed which was good because now I'm really looking forward to seeing how this all ends!
Def a 5*, A+++, 10/10 series so far. Love the concept - even if I don't understand all of it lol - and makes me feel completely reeled in, hook, line and sinker!
good sequel, read it in a day, very honest main character, surprise LGBT was nice, character development arc was well played with subtle changes in mentality
This gripping story just keeps getting more exciting and more violent. It also has a little more language (though it's still infrequent) including an f-bomb, and more sexual content. I'd rate it PG-13. Already reading Book 3.
After finishing Incubation, the first book in Laura DiSilverio's YA trilogy, I couldn't wait to read the second book, Incineration. Fortunately I didn't have to wait long, and I was not disappointed. Incineration starts four months after the events that closed the first book and we find our heroine, Everly Jax, imprisoned and about to face trial for murder and stealing a government zygote. I really don't want to give too much away, but will just say that she eventually makes her way to a lab, where she frantically tries to find a way to eradicate the locusts that threaten the food supply.
I found Incineration to be just as thrilling as Incubation. Disilverio has created interesting and complex characters, and a future world that feels real. I cannot wait to find out how this series will end.
I received a copy of this book as a giveaway from the author.

After reading Incubation, I couldn't wait to read book two in the series. I was not disappointed. Everly Jax finds herself in prison for murder. She doesn't know if her friends are alive or if she will ever get out of her current situation. She has an odd attorney that seems to not have her best interest. There is a daring raid and she ends up with a Defiance cell and finding some of her friends. Although Jax is happy being part of the rebels she ends up being more valuable back in a lab and returns to Atlanta with a whole new identity. There she finally finds out her parents identities but it doesn't help her decide where her loyalties lie and yet again I am eagerly awaiting the next book in this series. I love DiSilverio's writing style. The story line is complex and riveting. Highly recommend this series.
I'm digging this series so much! If you like YA post-apocalyptic fiction, get this series! I wouldn't be surprised at all to see it optioned into a movie trilogy. It reminds me a lot of both Divergent and WOOL in different ways.
Wow, the twists turns UPS and downs.... I found myself holding my breath more times than I want to admit...but yes this book followed through with the characters and take of Jax...yes!
Even better than the first book, I tore through this one in two days (quite a feat with two small kids!) The ending has me more eager for the next book than the first book did. Well-paced and full of twists and surprises, this is a great middle to the series. I really can't wait for the third book in the trilogy!
