Here’s the breakdown: my father has been thrown behind bars on murder charges, and my mother as accessory. That was three months ago, and since then, everything has been a downhill ride.
The only thing keeping me sane right now is Hot Body. Her name is Layla, and all that matters is that she’s gorgeous, sexy, and great in bed.
Until I wake up tied up and gagged, Layla standing over me. Sounds promising, huh? A pretty girl, maybe handcuffs and a whip?
But that’s not our scene, and the pissed-off men who kidnapped me are lurking in the shadows, ensuring that this experience won’t be fun at all…

Jo Raven does not disappoint anyone with this book. She has a way of writing extremely sexy men in every book she writes. It is extremely hot. Sexy, bad boy Hawk is kidnapped and his only hope of escape is Layla. Layla has been his booty call for the last couple of months and he is surprised to wake up and find her there. This book is dripping with hot steamy sex, almost on every other page. It's hard to put down once you start because you want to know what happens.

Title: Hawk
Author: Jo Raven
Series or Standalone: Standalone but part of a series
Category: Romance, Suspense
Plot: 5
Characters: 5
HEA: Not telling

I met Hawk & Layla in Caught and I was very excited to know more about their story!! This book has everything and in true Jo Raven fashion, it will fascinate you, make you smile and make you swoon!
Hawk & Layla continue their sensual affair bur Layla wants more than what he is giving her. Everything changes when he disappears! Danger and adventure await!
I loved the writing and as always I thoroughly enjoyed how the author developed her storyline. If you want something fast paced and passionate, then I highly recommend it!

This one drove me nuts in a way. I liked that Hawk really laid himself out there to get the organization, but it felt like a stupid plan to put himself in so much danger. I also thought it funny who was the person to save him.

The going back and forth between Hawk and Layla drove me nuts. You could tell that she was more invested in him than he was in her, a sad thing because he needed someone like her in his life. By the time that he realized it he royally hosed things up. It took some fast talking and action to get things right with her again.

Holy Hawk Hawtness

The prequel Caught must be read first

Hawk is following on from Caught which is so hot. In Caught you get to see how Layla and Hawk first meet. This alpha red blooded business man & bad boy rolled into one and Layla, a sweet girl who gets caught up in this whirlwind of a man.

Hawk is full of action and I don't just mean in the bedroom. kidnapping, mafia, danger, humour and lots of action, Jo Raven has packed it all into Hawk for your enjoyment.

Hawks character isn't as intense and hot as in Caught there's to much other action going on so I'm glad I read Caught first it was a great intro to get to know the characters before the action.

All characters involved are great and despite all the drama Hawks humour comes through as he has banter with his brothers and you get glimpses of Storm and Raylin from the first book.

Told in dual pov's which is good you get the thoughts and feelings of both characters.

Layla turned out to be a woman with backbone which I liked despite her times of doubt in Hawke 's intensions and her vulnerability shines through.

An action packed read. Looking forward to more in this series.

Spoilers ahead…..I liked Hawk and I liked Layla. Good characters because they both were compassionate in their own way. I liked how Layla stood by his side even when he was trying to push her away and she ended up saving him. One thing that did catch me off guard was Hawks reaction to Layla getting pregnant….ok….so the doctor tells Layla that she can’t get knocked up. When Hawk asks if she is on the pill she says, it’s not a problem, we won’t get pregnant. So later when he finds out why she said that (infertility), he starts feeling sad for her and starts thinking about adopting with her, or finding a way to get treatments so she can get pregnant. So color me surprised that when, bam, she gets preggers by him, he flips his shit and pretty much says that she only did it for his money and the baby probably isn’t his. It was like he did a total 180….and then a couple pages later, he is smiling because he is happy to become a dad. I’m telling you…I had freaking whip lash. I was so confused by him during this time; it kind of ruined my crush on him. I dunno….maybe it was just me, but I was taken aback.

Amazing novel!

"Hawk," Sex and Bullets #2 by Jo Raven was a favorite read for me. Jo Raven's novels are all favorites for me which is why she has her own shelf on my profile. ;) Hawk is a total book boyfriend! :)

Well damn! Every time I read one of Jo's novels I wonder how it could be better than the last. I have read every one of her novels (Inked Brotherhood twice!) and I can admit to being behind excited when Jo has a new release.

Hawk is a sexy, bad boy millionaire who lives by a strict code when it comes to women. No-strings sex is all he allows himself. He can't afford love and all the emotions that comes with it; the cost would be too high. Even if he thinks Layla is the sexiest woman he's ever been with. Besides, right now all he should be worrying about is making up for the mistakes of his parents, who are currently in jail for murder and a few other nasty things. But that won't be easy, especially when he's got some really ruthless, dangerous people waiting to pounce.

Layla is a beautiful selfless young woman who is currently studying publishing in college. We learned from the prequel, "Caught," Layla was publicly dumbed and humiliated by her former boyfriend, increasing her insecurities. But her feelings of inadequacy are short lived as Hawk steps in and comes to her rescue. He invites her to join him for dinner. That is the beginning of their no-strings, no feelings, no relationship sexual interest.

"I can't have a relationship. Can't date you. So if you want a boyfriend, than you can walk away from this table right now. No hard feelings. Too much is at stake." .....Caught.....

Pretty early on we find Hawk in some series trouble. I'm talking nail-biting worry! It's during Layla's attempt at rescuing him, and refusing to give up even though he tells her to leave him alone, that Hawk's feelings towards Layla start to change into something he doesn't understand. He is starting to see her as someone he could let behind his emotional walls.

Once things get going in the story, which is early on, we're in a suspenseful, fast-paced journey of events that will keep you at the edge of your seat. I loved that we get to see our favorite characters from the first book in the series, "Storm." Jo Raven's characters always have flaws. Some are tortured souls in need of the emotional healing that only love can bring. Hawk was an intense and loyal man and I loved him! Book boyfriend baby! Layla was a beautiful character as well, in heart and soul. She was brave and loyal and perfect for Hawk. They were perfect for each other. Hawk's friend Rook will be our next story. After reading that teaser, I hope we won't have a long wait!

My Rating.....5 Stars!!!

Reviewing on behalf of Relentless Book Chics Ramblings and Reviews

I’m a huge fan of Jo Raven’s stories and having briefly met Hawk in the first book of the series (Storm)and again in the prequel (Caught, available free) I was looking forward to reading his full story.

Layla and Hawk have been sleeping together for months but Layla is getting sick of him disappearing for weeks at a time and then getting a call asking her to meet up. The problem is that it’s been weeks since Layla last heard from Hawk so feeling a little depressed she decides to go and visit her dad at work.

Layla has been to the shipyard lots of times growing up and it’s never really been an issue but this time, her dad seems more keen than usual to get rid of her, something that makes her feel even more rejected than she already did.

Despite saying she was leaving, Layla decides to have a look around and soon finds herself in the middle of a dangerous situation, she discovers Hawk in the basement, tied to a pillar and unconscious. Even though when he wakes he tells her to leave, Layla can’t bring herself to abandon the man she cares so much about so she returns later.

What follows is a sequence of events that puts Layla and Hawk’s lives at risk and just when things seem to be looking up, everything gets so much worse when negotiations for a hostage release go terribly wrong.

I really enjoyed this story so if you like stories filled with suspense that have danger around every corner then this one will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you haven’t read any of Jo Raven’s books yet I highly recommend you do, she is one of my go to authors.

Hot Damn!! This has to be my favorite book by Jo Raven. Hawk is smart, cocky, and knows his way in the bedroom. This is the second book in Jo’s Sex and Bullets series but can be read as a stand-alone. This is Hawk and Layla’s story. Hawk is the heir to the Fleming estate. Along with the inheritance comes the burden to right the wrongs done by his parents who were part of an organized crime group called The Organization. A high-powered conglomerate of people whose main goal is to gain as much money and power by any means possible.
Hawk is a man in control until he meets Layla in a restaurant. After rescuing her from being humiliated by her ex-boyfriend, he takes her to dinner and proposes a no-strings attached relationship. What started that way was quickly turning into something more. If you want to know more about how they met, I highly recommend you read the prequel Caught. It's a quick hot read.
During her attempt at rescuing him, Hawk sees something more in Layla than being a hot body. He sees facets of himself in her. Fight, stubbornness and bravery. Things he couldn't deny were appealing to him. During their captivity all the way to their escape, feelings developed between them.
This is a fast-paced read. An adventurous and suspenseful story filled with hot scenes that will leave you breathless. This is a book I highly recommend.

Hawk takes place after the novella 'Caught' which gives us the introduction to the 'relationship' of Hawk and Layla. Where she essentially spends a year being a booty call.

A majority of the book is spent with Hawk battling 'the Organization' - we're not really given a reason why he is so determined to bring them down - perhaps more in sight is given in book 1 of this series - but I haven't read that yet.

After a year of treating Layla as nothing more than 'sex on demand' he starts to see her in a different light, but only after she risks herself to help him escape a situation that finds him being held hostage. From then on its mostly a volley back and forth of emotion that neither communicate.

This is my confession: In my opinion, Hawk doesn't read like the typical Jo Raven book that we all know and love. Hawk is pretty much an a-hole and - in my eyes, doesn't really redeem himself. Layla, more or less allows herself to be a doormat and emotional punching bag. All in all, not a huge fan.

Title: Hawk
Author: Jo Raven
Series: Sex & Bullets #2 (can standalone but better if the others are read)
Genre: erotic romantic suspense
Rating: ****

This was a brilliant romantic suspense, particularly when read after the novella prequel, Caught. The characters are brilliantly well formed, the chemistry sizzling, and Jo Raven's hottest, dirtiest sex scenes yet.

In places, the plot was pretty predictable, but this was overcome by how intrigued I was by the storyline, and how much I was rooting for Layla and Hawk to solidify their growing relationship.

Highly recommended, and now I have to go back and read Storm to fill in some of the backstory. If you have the choice, read rhat first - although Hawk can standalone and is very strong in itself, it feels like the backstory is necessary for full enjoyment.

Oh my...Hawk. He is flat out delish, but comes with a whole lot of baggage for sure. He wants to be the hero taking out the bad guy. We got quite the peek at him with Layla in Caught and that definitely left me wanting more. In this part of their story Hawk has let himself be captured to get more information on the Organization. He didn't count on Layla discovering him when she visited her father at work. Now she couldn't leave him until they were safe. And save him she did, but not before he said some not so nice things to attempt to push her away. Now they are hiding out while he heals and he has to fight for the heart he broke. I loved how strong Layla was for both herself and for him. They are scorching hot together and I loved watching them let down their walls and fall for each other.

I give Hawk 5 hearts!

I'm not a fan of friends with benefits trope, especially in a romance, as in reality it almost never leads to love or even a relationship. And I think that's why it's just 2.5 stars from me. While I absolutely loved Hawk's character, I couldn't stand Layla. She is just a spineless, whiny doormat. And even though she knows this 'relationship' doesn't have a future, the moment Hawk touches her, she just switches off her microscopic brain and goes with it. And it goes on and on and on. Ugh. There's also the matter of her pregnancy that pissed me off so much, I honestly wanted to give up. The only reason I kept reading was because of Hawk and I wanted to find out how it ends with he organisation thing so I could go to book 3.

Hawk is not one of my favorites that I have read of Jo Raven so far. I don’t really like how he treats Layla as a booty call throughout the entire book and how she just continues to let him have that type of hold over her and allowing herself to be an emotional punching bag. It takes about a year later for him to start seeing her in a different way and actually accept that he is falling for this woman after she saves him from when he gets was taken hostage. In the end they get a Hawk and Layla type of happy ending.

Hawk and Lay have some issues and Hawks one-man show is not helping. Luckily, Lay is very persistent and Hawk is a clever smart-ass, so everything works out in the end.
Their chemistry is explosive and they have the same mind-set. Great couple.

I like the name Dorothy. Wonder whether there is a story behind her.

Sweet baby Jesus here we go again. I've only finished the first book from this series and I'm about to dig into the next one. I'm on a roll and I can't stop. And it's all Jo Raven's fault because her writting is that good, fun of suspense, passion, desire you name it. I'm hooked and I can't get enough.
Hawk is the second book from the Sex & Bullets series and get ready...
Before I start talking about this book I need to tell you something. Despite all books are standalones you should read Storm first and then Caught, this way you will understand everything better.
This second book tells Hawk and Layla's story.
Hawk is a very good looking man, rich as Midas. He's faithful to his best friends and a womanizer, his motto is one night stands with no strings attached. Lately he had been seeing Layla but he really can't commit. His neds to find a way to deal with his parents arrest due to their crimes but things aren't always easy. One night he got himself kidnapped and...
Layla is a beautiful and sweet girl focused on finishing college. She was betrayed and humiliated by her so called boyfriend in front of everyone at a restaurant and that just made her even more insecure. That night a beautiful guy came to her rescue and asked her to dinner and make her a proposal that she can't refuse, no attachments, no feelings only hot and awesome sex. But things can change...
To know more about them read Caught first, you'll see...
Dayum... Just Dayum... I wasn't expecting this at all. I knew it would be perfect but jeez it blew all my expectations. Oh boy...
The plot is superb, very well written, perfect timelines. This book will give you suspense, crime, punishment, betrayal as well as family, loyalty, love, friendship you name it. The interation between the characters is beautiful, raw and so hot. You'll see because the hot scenes will make you blush, so get ready for them. There were parts of the story that I thought I couldn't handle it. The intensity levels will blow every chart. Jeez... My biggest advice is that you can't start a book from this lady at 9pm because I wouldn't and couldn't stop reading it and when I finished it it was almost 4am... Yep... It will be a ruff morning... But I regret nothing and I will do it again for sure.
I had adore Storm, I'm in love with Hawk and I can't even imagine what I will feel once I read Rook. Let get busy, but just tomorrow because now I'm going to sleep.
Holly crap batman... Jo you are insane and I love you for that.

Layla and Hawk are back in the full length and it's action packed and a high octane excitement. These two have been circling each other for a while now things have finally come to a head. Hawk has gone undercover to bring down the mysterious Organization - the very thing that has kept him from forming attachments and getting to close to keep people from getting hurt or worse. He has kept Layla at arms length and without knowing his reasoning she is at her wits end. She's tried to break it off countless times to no avail but thinks this time she really should to protect her heart and sanity. But when she finds him beaten and bloody she knows she needs to help him at any cost. When neither will sacarifice the other to put themselg first their feelings intensify and there is no denying the true depth of their connection. But with the threat of the Organization looming can they escape their clutches and hold on to their bright future?

I liked this book. I really loved other books by Jo Raven more. You should read the novella Caught before this book for more on the way Hawk and Layla’s relationship began. Hawk is trying to take down the shady Organization which his parents were a part of. He has been hooking up with Layla for almost a year when this book begins. He has been keeping her at a distance even though he can’t seem to stay away from her. Layla is very conflicted about her feelings and is sure they are finally done when she finds him tied up and beaten. Certain parts of this book didn’t make sense. I don’t think you would find people in these situations being able to carry on the way these two do. A good book though.

I kinda had a love/hate relationship with both characters in this one. Hawk could be such an ass, and Layla could make some really questionable decisions. But I did like them together. Once Hawk really let her in and they had a common enemy, it looked like things might work out for them. But then Hawk overreacted at Layla's unexpected news and Layla overreacted over his reaction. I could see where this was going. And I also knew it all had to work out in the end because this is a romance. :-) It was an entertaining story, and I'll be interested to see how the third in their group falls.

Loyalty and Love

Layla and Hawk have been having an affair for a year. Layla has fallen in love, Hawk tries to keep things superficial. Sex and good times. This is what he was taught, loyalty to the cause, don't get serious, your life is for the greater good. Layla is about to blow his mind. She will teach him about love, sacrifice and loyalty to each other first.

This is even better than Storm

This was a great read. Layla and Hawk's story was intense, hot, and sweet. They were in a no strings, just sex relationship. However, somewhere it changed. He wants to protect her and tríes to send her away; she wants to protect him and refuses to leave. Makes for a great read!

Awesome book

The novella to this book was a tease. This book was amazing. Couldn't put it down. So looking forward to the next installment in this series. This book has it all. A bit of drama, intrigue, suspense, violence, sex, love, a happy ending. What more could you want. Definitely recommending

Another bad boy billionaire in the sex and bullets series. Loved the meet up of Hawk and Layla but not necessarily they way he treated her in the beginning. But I get his side with the family issues and problems of his bad boy image. Layla was a strong female lead and the chemistry with this two was off the charts. But trouble sure knows where to find them.

I thought it was a weird book.
I loved Hawk but Layla was so childish.
He was upfront about what he wanted and she not.
Then he doesn’t call her and she finds him tight up and beaten up and she goes off to him for not calling and the next second the have sex........
While being captive the priorities were way off........
