Kelly Martin is an author and developmental editor who lives in a possibly haunted house in a small southern town. While she'd like to say paranormal things only happen to her at her home, it would be a lie, mainly because she searches them out in some of America's most haunted locations. Whether it is talking to the ghosts of Waverly Hills or the spirits of Thomas House Hotel, these events inevitably land in some of Kelly's books. Just wait until you read The Haunting of Micah Reed.

So much yes!

Well, after everything Gracen and hart went through to make sure she wouldn't turn. I mean, the task to turn her was that she would have to kill someone she loved. She assumed that would be her mother because of the vision. Nope. Her mother's lives, possessed, but alive and hart stopped her from killing her mother. He jumps in front of the only thing in the world that can kill him and Gracen stabs hart instead. The two didn't take into account that Gracen actually loved hart. So she turns anyway.
Her soul is basically ejected from her boi
dy and sent God knows where. Left in her absence is the evil, the abomination. The abomination doesn't care, doesn't love, doesn't cry. The abomination feels hate and rage and is going to destroy the world.

Hart and Lucien wake up...yup hart. He/ they don't know how, but they both climb their way out if their graves and they are human! Yeah they are very confused and powerless against the abomination. Hart knows he has to stop her, but he won't hurt her.

Seth is back in the pictures, annoying hart to death, he can't be trusted, he wants to kill Gracen/the abomination. He can't let that happen.

This series just keeps getting better. The author has done the impossible. I LOVE THE VILLAIN! Who knew that Hart could be redeemed. But that ending... Those emotions. My tears.

My Thoughts:

"Hope is a dangerous thing. The most dangerous thing on the planet. Hope kills more dreams than anything. Hope, if we aren't very careful, will kill the world."

As I type this review, I just set my Nook down after finishing Breathless. My thoughts are wow. A lot to handle right now. I've caught all the feels. All. The. Feels. As you guys will well-remember, I just recently discovered Kelly Martin with this series earlier this year and it absolutely blew my mind. This series and I found one another at the perfect time in my life and for that I have been extremely grateful. For three full novels now, I have had my bookish world turned upside down. I can;t even begin to describe the emotional journey this series has led me on. After so many incredible novels, could Breathless live up to its' predecessors?

Yes. Oh hell yes.

Readers of Heartless and Soulless will be extremely happy to know that Breathless is very much in the same vein. In fact, all of these stories could just be called episodes to one huge story as they are all very much dependent upon one another. Picking up shortly after Soulless left off, Breathless may be Martin's most spellbinding adventure to date!

When it comes to the plot of Breathless, be ready for an adventure. Literally. Through time and realms, Gracen is on a mission to stop the Abomination and save the world from its' bitter end. With the pieces of the machine already in motion, it's going to take the combined efforts of human, angel, and demon to save the world, but even that may not be enough.

This is a relatively short read so I really have to be careful of what I say to avoid any plot spoilers, but I can definitely tell you without hesitation that if you were a fan of books one and two, you will love book three. It's incredible to say the least. I will warn you though, it ends on Martin's most emotional cliffhanger yet. Bring the tissues folks. You've been warned.

Thankfully, Martin has already established all the groundwork in this world so there were no new characters to meet in Breathless. As a result, we really get some incredible insight to our existing characters and their stories. The character building was absolutely incredible and one of the most unique I have seen. Breathless is told from FOUR different character's POV. Yes, four. Don't worry, each narrative is necessary and doesn't repeat from the plot at all. In fact, I could have used a fifth at times!

One thing I really didn't expect out of this novel was the deep religious roots it shared at times. I've read several novels as of late with religious undertones, but this one is probably the one who has done it the best. Martin has delivered an incredible tale full of spirit without drowning her readers in scripture or history. She took her own unique twist on the scriptural tale and crafted a story that readers of all faiths and walks of life can enjoy.

Martin really hits home with some incredibly hard hitting themes in Brethless. It's an extremely deep read that really resonated with me for many reasons. If you can read this series without catching all the feels, you've done something wrong. With reflections on topics such as: faith, family, love, forgiveness, acceptance, fate, destiny, and so many more, Martin opened the floodgates of emotion and really let them roar. It was a beautiful adventure in reading.

As you guys can clearly see, I was a huge fan of Breathless. As far as the series goes, I'm going to be keeping a very close eye on Martin in the future and cannot wait until Reckless (book four) is released this fall. In the meantime, Martin has already released Hart, a novella chronicling the human life of Jessup Hart Blackwell, the male MC in the series. I'll be devouring it soon!

All-in-all, it should come as absolutely no surprise that I am granting Breathess by Kelly Martin a near-perfect 5-star review. I seriously couldn't rave any more if I tried. I can absolutely tell you that I'll be closely following this series until the very end. A truly unique read, Martin ignites a flame with her elegant words, captivating settings, and enough psychological insight to keep even the most hesitant of readers satisfied. Don't miss your chance to add this one to your TBR today.

There's no way I can write this review adequately enough: there aren't words for the emotions that this book will produce in you, I'm not an eloquent writer, and I haven't held this book in my heart long enough to give words to how amazing it is.

"Some of the most evil people in the world are the ones who hide behind righteousness. Who hide behind good and God and all that other stuff that makes them feel better than anybody else in the world. It makes them feel superior."

So, here's a review that doesn't give this book justice and some quotes that I loved from the book.
Breathless picks right up where Soulless left off. Let me tell you, those first two chapters do nothing short of put you straight into the characters life. You're thrown right into a world that is going to hell in a handbasket and no one has any idea of how to stop the Abomination.

"A part of me feels grateful that Seth did what he did. Without it, there would never have been a Gracen for me to love."

This is a journey of emotions, so many emotions, regret, guilt, sorrow, worry, happiness, helplessness, and love. There's Hart and Lucien together and Human and facing the past, what they did and didn't do.

"I just never thought it would be the kind of love that would destroy the world."

Kelly Martin is a brilliant writer. Can you imagine being a human who killed your own brother, died yourself, went to hell, was tortured by your mother, watched over a girl who was destined to be the Abomination, be killed by her, and come back alive to face the world you helped destroy? No? Kelly Martin is so brilliant that she's able to make you feel like you did that. That you can actually imagine going through it all. You can feel it. The pain, the regret, the worry, all the emotions that are drowning you.

"I just saw myself.
Me.
The real me.
The real me in the flesh.
The flesh that hurt Colleen.
The flesh that disappointed my father.
The flesh that killed my brother.
The flesh that can't forgive itself."

This story is intense and the emotions are real and strong, but there's that famous Kelly Martin humor sprinkled in the pain that I've come to love. Hart goes through so much in this story and he copes with snark and poor comebacks and reality that sometimes you need humor in the dark because it's the only way to keep the light going in you.

"That's what I need when the world ends. To be wearing high waters. Hell, then I might even be okay with it. If I must wear high waters, I might as well die."

As the story progresses and we come down to the final wire of the world ending and Lucien, Hart, and Seth come up with a plan to hopefully stop the Abomination we're left ragged. We've been through pain. We've lost everything. Lucien has his end goal. Seth has his. And Hart. His humanity, his soul is so beautiful and so stubborn.

"If we can't save Gracen, we aren't saving everybody. Let it burn. Let it all burn."

Hart is better than anyone I've ever known. Read this series. You wont regret it.

"I know."

This book opens up with a bang! This series has always been action packed but now in Breathless Kelly Martin leaves us that. . . Absolutely breathless and in awe that this series has taken us from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows and made us all sleep with the lights on and perform the patented run and jump on our way back from the bathroom in the middle of the night. . . (Ya know in case something reaches out from under the bed to grab you. . . Don't want to get within reach. . . Anybody else?  . . . . Nooo. . . Okay cool then, just me! I can deal)

Gracen has turned into what she fears and Hart and Lucien have no idea what to do next to save her (YIKES! if those two can't think of even a farfetched idea its not good) they find help in a very unlikely source (Seth Mitchell. . . Enough said!) And together they team up to restore Gracen back to what she was before. Along the way Hart goes through so many different emotions and its pretty intense! He's trying to make sense of his new reality and how to begin repairing his relationship with his brother. He feels so much guilt over everything and that is a huge transition for his character in my opinion, wrestling with guilt and redemption and all that lies in between.

This book is told from multiple POV's (Hart, Gracen, Lucien, the Abomination) and I love the multi angle views of this story. They all blend together so well so its like cinematographer set everything up so it goes seamlessly from one to the other. And the closer we get to the ending the more intense the conflict becomes until you are sitting there with tears streaking down your face and wanting to know if you could fast forward time just to have the next book. This story is probably my favorite in the series because it truly gives us everything we could possibly want out of the series. Lots of moments that I have been waiting for since I read the first book but in classic Kelly style she answers some questions but leaves us with all new ones haha.

Any review I did for this book would not do it justice. Of course you can't have the third book without the first two, but as much as I loved the previous books, I loved this one the most. We got to see what lies under the skin of these characters, how their minds worked, what made their hearts tick. It was not only fascinating but heartbreaking. I laughed (Hart is such a smart-mouth), I felt my chest tighten with fear of what would come next, I cried as I watched the pain these people (Because let's face it, they have become real for all of us who have read the books.) go through the horrors and heart wrenching scenarios they had to tackle. I loved certain character through what exists of the series so far, and still hate one or two that I haven't liked since I read the first book.

Every time she writes a new one, Kelly Martin shows us how deep she digs for us, and I can tell it's so much deeper than her gut. She is an enigma, and each word she writes is better than the last. I am in awe.

As much as I hated that the book ended the way it did, I'm not ready for the series to end. I can't wait to see what you write next, Ms. Martin. I'm sure it will be genius. Thank you for sharing your darkest dream with us.

Is love enough to save the world.

Kelly Martin does it again another rollercoaster ride of emotions and her trade mark cliff hanger.
Beautifully written you get sucked into the world of Graven and Hart as they fight to save the world from being destroyed by the Abomination.
Now to not so patiently wait for the next book in October.
If you have never read one of her books what are you waiting for join us for so many feels.

This was a rollercoaster ride!! Kelly Martin has done it again with the third installment of the Heartless Series. This book focused a lot more on the brothers. I loved getting to see another side of their relationship. When it's finally Gracen's turn, she doesn't disappoint. I can't wait to see where Kelly Martin takes this story next!

I loved this third tome, although more chapters are intended for Hart.
Hart, who is no longer a demon but a human, as Gracen there she become the abomination it destroys everything in its path and Hart will want to stop it to prevent it from doing more damage. Looking forward to read more.

I didn't think the third book could be any better than the first in a series. Boy was I wrong! Kelly Martin did an exceptional job and writing is exceptional. You really fall for these characters and love who used to be the villain. Rooting for the bad guy! But he's not really bad!

Now have to wait until the next book comes out to find out what happens but I shall continue to cry for Hart.

Oh my God! I have no words. This book is so amazing. Although, thanks to this book, I have a huge book hangover, that hopefully can be cured soon. The characters are very well developed, they get you invested., and the storytelling is superb. I would love to say it is a great good vs evil book, but it is so much more than that. I am dying to see where we get taken on this roller coaster next. Hurry and get your copies, so you can catch up before Reckless. I can't wait!

With Breathless, we get to see the softer (human) side of Hart, and we fall in love with him even more. While Breathless focuses more on Hart and Lucien's broken relationship, Gracen own selflessness is hard to ignore. The love between her and Hart was cemented for me in Breathless, but then Kelly Martin broke my heart. Can't wait for Reckless to see what the future holds for them.

Outstanding!

Kelly Martin is one of the most talented authors I've had the privilege of reading. This series has kept me hooked from the first book. The characters, the storyline, it all was just so engaging. Well worth the read!

This book has all the feels and then some. As with the other books, best word to describe it is intense. Maybe addicting. This is a series you will binge read because you won't want to wait to get to the next book. Added bonus in this book- additional points of view.

Wow

Hart has died and came back as a full human. Only to learn the world has been destroyed when he died. Gracen has become the Abomination, and she is destroying everything around her. Hart learns how to stop her. But it requires the greatest sacrifice love had, death again
