In a weather-worn, aged journal, young medical student Victor Frankenstein shares the events of his life and offers a horrifying account of his forbidden experiment in which he creates a monster out of the bodies of the dead.
As a HUGE Frankenstein fangirl, I really enjoyed this. I like the whole dark, gritty vibe and I was really happy that they included the text typed out in the back of the book because some of the words were difficult to make out in the handwritten pages. I really loved it overall and am happy to add it to my Franken-collection... Or would that be Collection-stein?
This a beautiful coffee table-style book and a great addition for anyone who is a fan of anything Frankenstein related. *guilty* Before I read this book, I re-read Frankenstein just to make sure that the diary was consistent with the original novel - and with the exception of a few details - the diary passes! This diary really brings the fiction of Frankenstein to life and makes it seem historical, which I find completely awesome!
This was a cool gothic style book that made you feel like you were really reading into the private journal of young medical student Victor Frankenstein. It shows scribbled sketches and letters all brown like they are aged from years gone dated back from the late 1700’s. Some of the handwriting is a bit hard to read, but other than that, it is a very cool book.
A nice companion piece to this classic. The author captures the story (although a few things are altered or left out) and the voice of Frankenstein very well.
