If I were learning how to crochet, I don't think this book does it. But if I liked the patterns found in the book, I might go to YouTube for individual stitches and teach myself as I try out the patterns. There are just not enough pictures to help the newbie.
As for me, there are not enough pictures of what each pattern should look like. For instance, there are supposed to be 3 bags to make. I do believe that the hexagonal pattern would be easy for most, there are no pictures for the other 2 bags.
Still, for more advanced crocheters, there are some patterns worth trying. Not enough hats (for my charity Hat Huggers. But a scarf or shawl might be accepted.
