Beautifully drawn. If you loved the Jesus Storybook Bible, you'll like this. I just wish the author made the links to Jesus a little more strongly.

This is one of our kids favorite books now.

UPDATE: This has become my go-to story to read the kids when we only have a very short time. It's what I want them to think about as they go to sleep: God's faithful love for them.

Good, but can't beat the KJV for lyricism. Dodges the preparing-a-table-in-the-presence-of-my-enemies part, and mentions death as simply times when you're scared or lonely. 3.5 stars.

FOUND is a charming board book, 20 pages in length, and is an adorable and touching depiction of the 23rd Psalm.

I’m firmly of the opinion that we can never outgrow children’s books, and this one is lovely!

It’s a precious picture book about the Shepherd looking after His sheep. The text is simple but lyrical, basically a simplified version of Psalm 23. I would have preferred it to have the exact words of the psalm, but, that being said, there is also a sort of charm to the way it’s written so that it’s easier for smaller children to understand.

The illustrations (of the Shepherd, sheep and lamb, and lush meadow and stream scenes) are deceptively simple, but further inspection shows the depth of detail—I could look at it over and over again (and I have!).

The lamb is my absolute favorite. It has SUCH personality and is just the most adorable thing! I love when it smiles. <3 This book is worth it just for that little lamb. It’s so cuuute!

If you have a child, nephew, niece, or other little friend (or even for yourself!), I highly recommend checking it out. Just in time for Easter, too! I really enjoyed it. ^_^

Well respected and highly anticipated author, Sally Lloyd-Jones has used her unique talent to share Psalm 23 with the very young child and artfully created the message with easy to interpret pictures that the young child can understand.

The text of the beloved Psalm 23 is simply put forth in words for the very young child. To me this is not an opportunity to actually teach the Psalm to the child. No, it is a little board book for young hands and young hearts to be able to understand how God is always with the child and He will always take care of him or her.

I would strongly encourage parents and caregivers to begin teaching the actual text of Psalm 23 to the child in short phrases as soon as they are able to grasp it. Committing it to memory will surely bring comfort throughout his or her life. But for the time being and for the very young child, it is good to take an opportunity such as the book Found presents to teach the child about God's presence.

DISCLOSURE: I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through the BookLook review program to facilitate this review. I was not compensated.

My experience with Christian picture books is that there have been some good ones, but there have also been an awful lot of really cheesy, preachy ones with bargain-bin-quality illustrations. But I've read several really good ones lately, and this is one of them (I like this trend, and hope it keeps up!)

This book is very simple -- I don't get the feeling it's trying to wow anyone by "dressing up" a Bible story or pounding kids over the head with a moral lesson. It's just Psalm 23 by Sally Lloyd-Jones, written with language updated in ways that young children can understand (the "valley of the shadow of death" becomes "dark, scary, lonely places").

And yet, the title and cover would have led me to believe this was a book about the parable of the lost sheep. I love how the author and illustrator managed to meld some of the ideas from a psalm with a parable without actually forcing that into the text.

Love this one so much, I slept with it for awhile. Woke up in the night just to read it again. Regretting my impulsive decision to rip the cover off, but happy the picture of the shepherd that looks just like my dad is unharmed.

I don't review every single book I read to Sophie so it doesn't goof up my yearly reading challenge, but I've read this one so many times it ought to count for something.

Found is excerpted from The Jesus Storybook Bible, by Sally Lloyd-Jones with illustrations by "Jago." I was never a huge fan of Jago's style in the full-length Storybook Bible, but I really like the illustrations in Found—they're more richly colored and detailed than the former, which I always found minimalist in a way that appeals primarily to artsy adults rather than to kids. Found's illustrations also have some nice, subtly incorporated elements of traditional Christian images of the Good Shepherd, especially in the image of the shepherd retrieving a lamb from a cliffside. The book begins at sunrise and plays out the psalm's message across the 20 pages of the book, concluding at sunset, which is also really nicely done.

The text is a loose adaptation of Psalm 23, written in kid-level language. Again, it's an excerpt from Lloyd-Jones's Storybook Bible rather than a new text, but that's okay by me and makes Found a good option as a gift. Her adaptation of the psalm is a little too free and a little too fuzzy-wuzzy for my personal taste ("My cup overflows" becomes something like "My heart is so full of happiness I can't hold it all inside;" and "Even when I walk through the dark, scary, lonely places" is a pretty pale reflection of "though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death") but any book like this should be a jumping off point for introducing kids to the Scriptures rather than a substitute for them. And when the adaptation works, it works: "God is my shepherd, and I am his little lamb. . . . I have all I need." A two-year old can get that.

Finally, this is a board book, which is great. Sophie loves this book and a traditional paper copy would not survive the treatment this one is receiving.

Highly recommended.

This uses the exact same text as one will find in the author's other book, The Jesus Storybook Bible. So if you already own that book, you already own the text of this book.

However, what takes up three pages in that previous book is made into an entire picture book, with pictures that do a great job supplementing the text. And by making it into a stand-alone picture book, it's better suited to younger children who typically have lesser patience for more words per page.

Well done.

A paraphrase of Psalm 23 for little kids.

I like how this rephrases things in terms that kids can easily grasp and understand the metaphor of God as our shepherd and carer. Sweet illustrations go along with the simple text. A great book for Christian families and schools.

About the Book:

From the bestselling The Jesus Storybook Bible, with over two million products sold, comes Found based on Psalm 23. Written by Sally Lloyd-Jones and illustrated by Jago, little ones will fall in love with this padded cover board book that reminds them of God’s Never Stopping, Never Giving Up, Unbreaking, Always and Forever Love.

My Review:

Psalm 23 is a very popular Psalm many people these days know all about this Psalm and most of what it means. Christians, specifically know that the Shepard mentioned is God or Jesus and that we are His flock. Well to me Psalm 23 is a part of Scripture designed for us to not lose hope. To keep the faith and to know that our Shepard walks with us through everything.

The author, Sally Lloyd-Jones has put together a board book for ages 4-8 that explains Psalm 23 in terms and words that a child can understand. This is a great concept for us parents because our children have the benefit of learning this Psalm at a very early age.

I'm so glad this book was written. I don't see many like it or children.

**Disclosure** This book was sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the author. All opinions are my own.

We are big fans of both Sally Lloyd-Jones and Jago. Sally's words and Jago's illustrations have combined to produce some of our favorite books. Our all time favorite is of course The Jesus Storybook Bible. We've used that resource for several events in our house including our Advent readings. In fact right now we're preparing to us it for our Lent and Easter readings.

Found: Psalm 23 is taken from that wonderful book. While the words are the same the illustrations are new. And in my opinion the new pictures are even more beautiful than the originals.

I really like the idea of a separate book that focuses in on this chapter of Scripture. Most of us have it memorized but Sally's paraphrase allows the reader to take a fresh look at it and grasp the concepts it contains. What a beautiful thing to teach your little one that God's love is "never stopping, never giving up, unbreaking, and it is always and forever."

If you have a preschooler this book would be a perfect fit for your family library. I also think it would make a great birthday present, Easter basket filler, or baby shower gift. It's a padded board book so it will stand up to lots of reading and turning of pages by little hands.

"Found: Psalm 23" is a board book for young children (suggested for 4-8 years old). It loosely translates Psalm 23 using simple words and ideas so that a child can understand it. It has the reader (as a lamb) and God (as the shepherd) as the main characters. The lamb and shepherd have very expressive body language despite the somewhat loose illustration style. (It's clear what everything in the illustrations is meant to be, yet it's not highly detailed.) The colors used and the body language of the characters reinforced the peaceful or frightening moments.

I've been looking for a book that would help to describe God to a very young child. This book clearly shows how God cares for us by providing us with food and everything we need. How he guides us, protects us, etc. And it ends with "Wherever I go, I know // God's never stopping, never giving up, unbreaking, always and forever love will go, too."

My favorite part is the illustrations and text for the "Even when I walk through the dark, scary, lonely places... // I won't be afraid. Because my Shepherd knows where I am. He is here with me." I'd highly recommend this comforting and engaging board book.

A beautiful board book focusing on one of the Bible's most comforting passages!

Written by Sally Lloyd-Jones and illustrated by Jago (The team who brought you The Jesus Storybook Bible), this padded board book is a must-have for everyone's home library.

This great title is really everything you want in a board book.

It has simple text, beautiful illustrations and is just the right size (8x8) for little hands to hold as they discover one of the Bible's most comforting passages, explained in a way that even tiny tots can understand.

I feel this board book would be most appropriate for babies up to a child who is just learning to read. However, it is so pretty and focused on such a popular Bible passage, I also feel it would make a nice gift book for all ages - I especially think it would make a great shower gift or new-grandma present!

Your Easter basket shopping just got easier! Found, written by Sally Lloyd-Jones and illustrated by Jago, is the perfect way to show your child God’s love. With simple verse based on Psalm 23, your child will easily understand all the ways God cares for him. The Good Shepherd is beside his little lamb through all things, including times that are scary. I loved the simple, yet effective, illustrations. That little lamb is very expressive, smiling and content when in the arms of his shepherd. Found comes in a sturdy board book format suitable for the smallest of readers. It will hold up to the multiple readings your child is sure to request. I can’t wait to share this one with a little friend!

Highly Recommended.

Audience: children ages 4-8.

Are you familiar with the Jesus Storybook Bible? Then this new little board book will seem very familiar to you. The same author has published a new book called Found that is based on Psalm 23. This new book illustrates the beautiful Psalm with some great pictures and helps you talk through the Psalm with your child.

I've appreciated Sally Lloyd-Jones' work and how she points to the main character of the entire Bible, Jesus. Her books are beautifully written and the illustrations are engaging for children. This board book on Psalm 23 is recommended for children ages 4-8 yrs. If you're looking for something for child's Easter basket this year, check out Found. It would make a great gift!

(reviewed by Kaeli) First, the disclaimer. "I was provided a free copy of this book. All opinions are my own." That done, FOUND: PSALM 23 is an amazing retelling of Psalm 23. The illustrations are beautiful, and this is simply done so even the littlest listeners should be able to keep their attention on the story while they enjoy cuddle and snuggle time.

I really enjoyed reading this to my dolls and my oldest sister put it in her babysitting bag to share with little kids she babysits for. Also good for church nurseries, preschools, day cares, and the lowest grades in school (K-4 or K-5).

This is a real sweet book and I really enjoyed it. Pick this one up for your favorite baby, toddler, or preschooler today.

What a wonderfully written and illustrated book to share Psalm 23 with children. This is now my third book I will give children after first Jesus Storybook Bible (also by Sally Lloy-Jones) and second Corduroy. The first shows how every story in the Old Testament points to Jesus and the second is a wonderful picture of the Gospel. We do not deserve and cannot earn the love our heavenly father just as Corduroy did not deserve and could not do anything to earn Lisa's love. Found reminds us of our gracious Father who gives all good gifts.
I don't read that many children's board books, but I documented this one just so I could do a review.

I think this is a beautiful and accessible way to teach the 23rd Psalm to little ones. I thought the artwork was both captivating and comforting, and the text told the psalm in such a way that it's actually explaining it to children.
