3.5 ALMOST DID NOT FINISH STARS

This book starts when the heroine is very young and the hero is her assigned bodyguard by her sick twisted father, who plans to sell her to the highest bidder.
Dom our hero wants to protect Deedee from this and as he has been sent to kill her father by rival, he makes a bargain with her dad to keep Deedee for himself and claim her when she turns 18.
SO SHE IS LITERALLY OWNED BY DOMINIC.
And so he waiting for her to come of age, then he was coming after her.
The story takes off from there with trills, spills, misunderstandings and lot of drama.
I don't want to give the story away for those who want to read it but it has some other woman drama with him having had a child with this woman before the heroine.
Now if I had know about this I would not have read this story because I don't like stories with the hero has had a child while knowing the heroine.
She was just too young for him at this point and I understand that, but he still had a child with another woman.
The story drags on in spots and honestly it was full of action so I don't really understand why it felt so long. It was a good story but it was just weird and awkward in its pacing.
The race to end was just crazy!

I am glad I finished it but honestly I would not reread this book.

Safety: no cheating when they get together, no pushing or pulling, enough other woman drama to stop me from reading, safe sex somewhat as he does use condoms.

Content alert: spanking, anal, and elements of BDSM.

Not exactly what I expected from this book. I'm slightly disappointed, I was expecting more, maybe because I was super hyped up to read this.

I really struggled to finish this, I almost DNF because it was hard to get into. I just wasn't expecting the plot to be quite so slow and uninteresting to me..

It just felt the world was against Dom and Deidre, between Dom's ex and Deidre's dad, problems kept popping up everywhere. And Deidre was pretty TSTL, always being the martyr. Which obviously didn't work for Dom.
"...you need to know there's no leaving me. You are everything to me. My breath, my heart, my life."

There relationship wasn't as steamy as I usually like but it was quite sweet. Dom wasn't as possessive as I thought he would be but he was still pretty alpha. I really enjoyed how Dee was with Jax, I thought it was quite adorable.

I will definitely read Case's book, the ending was quite intriguing!

Pretty good read with a great single dad hero. Suspense and fast moving romance. A few parts did drag a bit but I still enjoyed it.

Safety.
Safe with exceptions since hero wasn't celibate after meeting.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this book but I must say I was pleasantly surprised! I absolutely adored Dominic, DeeDee and Jaxon! It wasn't a very long story but boy was it packed full. Dominic actually first comes in contact with Deedee when she is very young and he has infiltrated her father's inner circle. After finding out her father's wicked intent, Dominic is hell bent on keeping her safe and strikes a bargain with her father. She is sent away to boarding school where she escapes a few years later on her 18th birthday. Things get interesting when he is sent to find her after her escape. No longer the little girl he once knew, his feelings change and he wants her. I loved Dominic! He was that growly alpha that I love. Once he is back in DeeDee's life he is devoted to her. DeeDee was a strong h for such a young girl. She'd been through so much and was tough. The love that she showed Dominic and Jaxon (and even Case)was beautiful. The secondary characters were great. Case was funny and hot. Jaxon was sweet and adorable. There was a couple parts that left me confused but I felt this was a pretty solid read. I would have liked a better look into their future in the epilogue but it was more of a set up for Case's book. I will be looking forward to Case's story this fall.

When I read the GR description for this book I thought - an older sexy man who falls insta-lust with a young 18 year old virgin whom he knew previously. I like! I totally didn't like!

The whole thing with the father who was not her father and him getting rid of her mother who she could only see once a year. And the whole thing about hiring Dominic to be her bodyguard and then sending her away from him at age 11. Dominic was supposed to kill her father because was a drug trafficker, but then didn't because he bargained Dominic to spare his life an when Deedee turned 18 he would tell Dominic where to find her so he could own her. This whole part was totally confusing! Couldn't Dominic find her in those 7 years she was away? Why did he wait until she was 18? Her mother knew where she was because she sent her money. Could her mother not take her away from where she was? And if her mother knew where she was then how come Dominic couldn't find her. I think if I tried to re-read parts of the books I may be able to uncomplicate this whole thing, but I DIDN'T WANT TO! I just wanted to be one with this book so I trudged on hurriedly in the hopes of putting myself out of my misery.

You are probably asking why I didn't just put it on my DNF shelf and be done with it. I just hate to do that. Maybe there may have been a good thing at the end of the book that I liked or an epilogue that made reading it all worth it and also because I'm just stubborn that way. But nope, nothing at the end redeemed the book in my eyes. In fact, I did create a separate shelf called 'dont read again' in case I forget and look on amazon or GR and think I wanna read that book I'll remember NEVER TO GO THERE AGAIN! Thank goodness it was on KU and I didn't have to kick myself twice because I purchased it.

ARC kindly provided by the author in exchange for an honest review

An emotional and sweet story combined with suspense, action and lovely characters. Deidre grew up in a twisted family environment with constant violence from her father towards her mother and herself until Dominic became her bodyguard and tried with his all being to protect her from this monster father.

A deal takes place and now Dominic owns her after many years he can finally collect what it should be his from long time. Deidre always saw Dom as her hero and the day has come where she sees him in an entire different way and believe me she wants to be his, their attraction to each other is instant with many fireworks, their explicit scenes are way too hot, their dialogues very pleasant and enjoyable. As for Jaxson well i loved his sweet toddler words, the whole story had pretty intense scenes and sometimes i thought i was reading a movie filled with lots of action. Dominic was the possessive, alpha male who could overcome every obstacles in order to make her his and Deedee was the sweet and caring heroine everyone would love. Definitely recommend it and can't wait to read Case's story.

Review for Owned by Dominic by KL Donn

Owned by Dominic is the first book in the Possessed series by KL Donn and is filled with insta-love! I’ve become a huge fan of the instant gratification of insta-love romance in recent months and this one hits that spot just right. KL Donn has a unique voice when it comes to spinning her stories and she packs a whole lot of punch into every chapter.

Dominic is a rough around the edges alpha man that will keep you swooning and maybe make you want to stomp your foot in annoyance at his overprotectiveness. Deidre is a firecracker. I was constantly surprised by her spunk, but she had such a soft heart it was almost painful at times. I have to mention Jax, he is a cutie patootie, Donn did a great job of working his character into the relationship between Dom and Deidre.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. It’s fast paced and kept me intrigued. I definitely wanted to know who the key players were and why they were connected. I wanted Dom and Deidre to have their happily ever after from the first chapter. Donn is definitely an author I’ll be reading in the future.

Three Stars and Three Wet Panties.

This book was nothing like what I expected. Don't get me wrong it was a very good book. I thoroughly enjoyed it even though it seemed at some parts it dragged on but it did end with a bang and I'm glad I finished it. The cover??? Hotness!!! It drew me in. I love when the cover gives me an idea of what the characters look like. Which, idk if I missed this part in the books description of Dom, but no where that I read described Dom's tattoos...which is a first in the many books I have read about tattooed H's. Both main characters were very likable. I loved the heroine a lot. Very strong and didn't take no shit. It was hard to believe sometimes that she was 18. But I loved that because some of the 18 year old heroines that I read about are whiny and just act like a friggin' child. I also loved both Dom and Case! Both were HOTT! And how could I forget Jax. Cutest kid EVER with his toddler talk!!! I'm hoping Case gets a story because that's how it ended with him possibly finding his happily ever after. :)

3 Stars.... Still on the fence with this one!

OK, so this was my first read by Author K.L. Donn and I liked it, I just wasn't in love with it unfortunately. I can see that I am in the majority here but for me as much as I truly loved the characters, I felt the storyline and the characters themselves lacked depth.

I love an insta-love, insta-lust story BUT I also like it when it's done right and I mean by my own personal reading standards. With that being said, there was a lot of potential and a good premise for the story but for me, it was just all way too fast and was just flat for me. The execution of the storyline fell flat for me which is too bad because the synopsis had me excited:(

Although this is my first read by the author, I will as my usual standard, definitely give this author another try. Sometimes, even my favorite authors, have a hiccup or two so I hate to dismiss a new author based on just one book.

Wow

I've read several of KL s books and loved them. I decided to go back and read some of her older books. I wasn't disappointed. You'll love the over protective alpha Dom. The headstrong mouthy Dee Dee. But the story you'll love more. They fight for what the want every step of the way.

Good story, likable characters. No cheating, short separation, H's ex/baby momma causes trouble but not relationship. H never waivers in his devotion to h. Older H (35 I think) Younger h (18), he's known her since she was a kid.

h's dad makes her mum (she's Irish) disappear only allowing her to see her once a year. h is spunky and mature for her age without being immature or shrewish. Bravo to the author, Dee is an h I can like and respect. H is sexy, protective, loving. Nothing to complain about there.
H was ready to get rid of h's father when he strikes a bargain, he was about to sell the h but will only send her away until she's 18 if the H spares him. They agree and h goes looking for her on her 18th b-day but she's already escaped the Swiss boarding school she was sent to. H catches up to her is Spain or Italy, I forget which and takes her home to Maryland with him. He decides to keep her.

Issues that kept my rating from 4 or 5:
I'm not sure what anyone looked like except the h's mother, who is described, and that the H is big and the h petite.
The storytelling was a little choppy, events would happen and I felt there needed to be conversations to help clarify (at least, if I was a character I would have had questions).
I didn't understand why h was going to take her to see her father (though he doesn't). If she belonged to him in exchange for sparing his life why would he have bothered, it didn't make sense to me.
Some people in the h's life were forgive way too easily as far as I'm concerned for their failure to protect her from her father (not the H), I get it was done to forward the plot but I feel there needed to be a lot of justification or groveling before she allowed them back into her life.
The love and romance were good but again I felt the scenes needed to be longer and include some meaningful conversations.
With plot and love scenes it felt as if some things were missing and I needed them.

But, it's still a good book I really like the characters and it is a re-read for me. To add, they say some of the sweetest things to each other, made me sigh at times.

I will read more by the author but not the ménage's as they are not my cuppa :)

I really, really, really enjoyed this book! I loved the protector’s series and I couldn’t wait for Dee Dee’s story! I loved the connection Dom and Deidre had, I have to say, Jackson is my favourite character in this book, he is absolutely adorable! And I loved how Deidre and Jackson bonded instantly, from calling her ‘’Pincess’’ and waking her up In the middle of the night for random toddler/three year old babble. I was on the edge of my seat when Deidre and Jackson were kidnapped. I seriously hope there is more from this series. I can’t wait for Casey’s book!

Deidre is a girl from Dublin, Ireland that grew up with an abusive dad, her mother left her all alone with him at eight years old, at the age of ten Deidre met her new bodyguard, Dominic Slade. Dominic and Deidre’s friendship soon grows, but Deidre is shipped off to boarding school in Switzerland and Dominic is forced to make a deal with the devil, Dominic can have Deirdre when she is eighteen in exchange for not killing the devil, her dad.

It soon skips to 7 years later and we find out about Deidre escaping the boarding school and is on the run. A while later Dominic soon finds her and tries to take her home, to her dad. As soon as Dominic see’s Deidre all grown, he knows he wants to be more than her friend!

Will they get their happily ever after? Will the devil catch up to them?

Dominant Dom

***ARC provided in exchange for an honest review***

From beginning to end this book had me possessed. From an early age Deidre (Dee) has been through so much from her Mama leaving & all this while living with a man who despises her. Enter Dominic (Dom) a man on a mission who see Deidre and vows to do whatever it takes to protect her from her father. Once Dominic realizes the lengths that her father goes to to get rid of her he prepares to kill him, unfortunately her Dad has another trick up his sleeve for Dom to save Dee he can't kill him. Fast forward years later and Dee escaping from the boarding school she was sent too and Dom's hot on her trail. Who knew that the little girl he saved all those years ago would grow up into the woman that bring him to his knees. This book was so great, the emotions and feelings I've experienced really blew me away. The characters start to feel as if their family to me and Jaxson just about stole the book right along with Casey. This is series that I am anticipating to rock my world.

2.5 stars - The book has promise. Unfortunately, the storyline is so choppy and convoluted, it's a bit difficult to enjoy. Characterizations are given, but then conflict greatly with info in later situations.
From Dom and the father's "deal" (this seriously made NO sense), to Brooke's "partner", Malaky's sudden appearance and then disappearance, to the final kidnapping/hostage situation - Every. Single. Situation creating action or drama stemmed from something inconceivable and illogical, and ended with an implausible outcome.
For all that Dom and Casey are supposed former Ranger badasses, I saw nothing exemplary from them. The bad guys were continuously able to reach them and gain the upper hand, wrecking havoc.
I did enjoy the uber possessiveness Dom felt for Deirdre, and the likewise intense feelings she reciprocated towards Dom.
All in all, this is a love story, and the author definitely delivers on that.

This is my first book by this author and I was impressed. Dominic is this strong protective male who happens to meet Diedre when she is just child and is fiercely protective of her. Diedre whose father is a tyrant makes a deal for his life when Dominic wants to end it,the deal his life for Dominic to be able to claim Diedre when she turns eighteen. When we see Diedre a few years later we see.Dominic come in and claim her but Diedre goes very willingly. Dominic had a son during there years apart and Diedre becomes very attached a protective of the little boy. While Dominic tries protect Diedre and everyone else he loves we begin to see.Diedres life.isn't.what she was told. Lots.of.intrigue in this book and a.swoon.worthy hero.

While i don't mind older man/younger woman; insta anything, I still need to connect with the characters....and in this case I didn't connect with Diedre. I didn't hate her, but she did nothing for me either. She is written almost too perfectly, everybody (except her "dad") loves her and she can do anything....There is a lot going on in this story, almost too much. I did enjoy it, but I didn't love it.

So basically our heroine Deedee has a shitty life and then arrives, Dominic, her childhood savior and adulthood loved.
Loads of adorable scenes with the son and family. The sex scenes were hot and very well written.

Want me a Dom!

Everyone was telling me to read Dom’s story after I finished Kennedy’s Redemption. Well. Am I glad I did, ‘coz I love, love, loved how Deidre and Dom’s story came about, how Dom was a bodyguard, a protector, and then a lover at the end.

I also loved the banter, knowing that the heroine had a backbone- she was Irish, after all. I loved how she stood up for herself, how she had Dominic and his son, Jax, wrapped around her little finger.

And yup, that little boy, with the way he talked, was so adorable!

All in all, I give KL Donn 10 stars for Owned by Dominic, and I thank her for introducing me to Dom! Now on to Case...

3.5 stars. I liked this book, but didn't love it.....I wanted to and it had what I normally like....but....

The book starts out when Deidre is young, her dad is an a$$hole and is always beating her mom. Then her mom & dad get divorced and her dad gets her even though he doesn't want her and make sure she only sees her once a year. Fast forward to when Deidre is 10 and Dom is her bodyguard. Dom is actually on a "job" and no I am not exactly sure what he does for a living, but Deidre's dad is the assignment. Dom is supposed to take her dad out. He ends up finding out that her dad sold her, yeah at 10...wtaf, instead of taking her dad out (what, what), he lets him live (???) in exchange for Deidre when she turns 18. This entire deal makes no sense to me if Dom can just track her down with his "contacts"......but that's just me.

Fast forward 8 years and Deidre has been in a boarding school all this time, never getting to leave and no visitors at all. The emotional pain that this poor girl goes through breaks my heart. Every child should be protected and feel loved at all times, but she really doesn't have anyone and never did. She finally escapes and is trying to bide her time until she can get to her mom...honestly not sure I would have bothered with anyone from my previous life, but if that's all you know...eh. Dom finds her to take her back to her dad....wtaf, before she's free. But after seeing Deidre he decides he wants her for his own and is keeping her. Normally, I love this type of book and don't like when there is any type of break with a couple......this book is apparently the exception to those 2 rules for me and here's why: When she gets to Dom's home she finds out he has a 3 yr old son from another woman. So, why she was basically being emotionally beaten down in "captivity".....he was clearly having a good time and starting a family....wtaf. I understand she was young and they were obviously not together, but damn he didn't even visit her or keep in contact all the years she was gone. And Deidre was so upset when she found out, it broke my heart....like kicking a damn puppy.....and you know I like puppies. The whole thing pissed me off. Basically, I felt like he wanted an insta-mom for his son, that is a huge job for an 18 yr old, especially one that really hasn't lived life at all.....but we want to make Dom happy (said no one at all). I would have loved to see her have a couple of years to herself instead of going from one captivity to another....seems so unfair and sad. She even talks about it a little bit in the book.

Dom wants her and ends up literally taking her against the wall??? I am all about wall sex, but not for my first time....uh, not sure about you but.....ouch. I was just not a Dom fan per say. He gets mad at her....for everything and then she cowers and goes through self loathing.....seriously just upset me. He just had no real respect for her, he was all just me, me, me. Wants her but has no idea how to treat her, from the very beginning. Deidre does an amazing job of standing up to the ex, but just can't stand up for herself with Dom & her dad....maybe all me really. So sometimes she seemed so tough which really counteracts with the majority of how she was written, so a little inconsistent.

I did think the book was well written and few mistakes, just not a fan of the storyline itself with all the ex drama and her damn dad that shouldn't even be in the story still. So quite a bit of unnecessary drama in my mind. Having said that I am still going to read Case's book, because I really liked his character.

Simply Captivating

K.L. Donn does it again. I’m so in love with this authors stories. She has a way with words and characters that just pulls you right into the story. I absolutely loved the Characters in this story, so very sensitive and Caring was Dom even though he comes off as rough. Deidre ended up being a perfect lover for Dom and perfect to care for his very cute and lovable son Jaxson. Case the perfect and loving friend. of Dom’s. I’m so looking forward to reading book two in this series.

I absolutely loved this book by Kl who is one of my favourite authors. I love an alpha hero and Dominic was very much all alpha and Deidre was a wonderful match for him. First meeting when she was young and he was her bodyguard until circumstances got in the way. They reconnect when she is eighteen and him 34 and wow. Throw in a gorgeous little boy and this book had me hooked. I couldn’t put it down as I waited to see what would happen next. Another wonderful book by Kl.

Dom and Dee

What an amazing intriguing story. I finished it in one sitting; these two characters are funny in a way. They have bad people after them, but in the midst of all that they managed to make it look normal, adding a 3-year-old to the mix makes it that much enjoyable. I think I'm going to love this series; it was recommended to me, and I can see why. I'm very happy with giving it 5 stars, well done.
