Iris Malone had a plan of revenge. She searched for the man known as “The Savage.”
Chance Logan was one of the most promising heavyweight contenders on the planet. Her plan was simple, to make a savage fall to his knees. She would break his heart like he’d broken so many countless others before her.
But sometimes even the best laid plans can begin to unravel.
What happens when you fall for the enemy?
When you’re in danger of losing your heart to the man you promised to make suffer?
When lines are crossed, and it’s too late to turn back, you have no choice but to live with the decisions you make.
Will Iris’s plan for revenge ruin the chance at a love of a lifetime? Will she fight for a chance to love a savage or will she lose everything when the truth is finally revealed?
Someone was going down.
Someone would pay.
Do you care to place your bets as to who will be standing at the end of the final round?

Another amazing book by Linda Oaks. As soon as I read the synopsis, I knew I was going to love it. Sure enough Chance Logan, Iris and super cute Alice, own me.
Chance, oh goodness! I loved him, he just had this way about him. Sexy as all heck, seductive, everything I love in a alpha male. He was definitely a man who never had to put in work for any females attention. I know he didn't have to work for mine. But Iris.. Iris Malone, he had to work for like nobodies business, to get in those pants. Ha! I loved the hustle.
Iris Malone was a beautiful waitress, who worked at Chance's favorite bar. She was staying in town with her niece, she had a plan. A plan to land the famous, Chance Logan. It was a dangerous plan, but a plan she was determined to keep to, for her sister. Iris fought a hard fight when it came to NOT falling for Chance. Of course that was unavoidable. Their chemistry was too strong.
And Alice Oh My Gosh! Alice was a great supporting character. I couldn't tell who had more charm, her or Chance. Haha I just ate those two up.
Linda Oaks did an amazing job bringing these characters, their story to life. I can't wait for her next book.
Ive always had a Thing for chance Logan, from the very first book. He just seem to catch my attention. I understand why he turned Addie away, but the way he went about it is just wrong. But then again he was young. We all learn from our mistakes good or bad we learn. I hurt for him and Chase for the shit they had to deal with. But there both strong men. I also believe iris went about this whole situation wrong. But again we learn from mistakes. Chance is good guy and he's blunt. Which I admire him for.
This book had me hooked from the prologue. It just tugged at my heartstrings. There were times when my heart hurt for these characters and times where my heart was full with emotions. I love books that make me feel for the characters.
This book was wonderful! I loved the writing, the fact that it was written from two point of views, the characters and the chemistry between Chance and Iris! I highly recommend it!
You definitely want to meet and fall in love with Chance "The Savage" Logan!
Iris Malone was bent on revenge. She went looking for the man that ruined her sister's life. Once she tracked him down she never expected to fall head over hills for him. That is why she had to keep her distance to stay focused on bringing this man down to his knees.
Chance and his twin brother always had rules they would go by when it came to the ladies. They never stay the night, expect nothing more than sex, never give gifts or flowers, never pay for her drinks or take one on a date, and above all else be straight with them and tell them you don't do relationships.
Well, that was until Iris walks into his life and made him throw all those damn rules out the window. I really liked this book and it made for a good weekend read. It held my attention well and I love the twist that Linda Oaks takes in leading you slowly into a direction and story line you didn't even see.
The only thing I did find a bit out of place was the word "for" kind of popped up in strange random places that detracted me from my reading experience. That is the only reason I gave this book 4 cranky stars.
Operation: Forget Iris or Operation: Get Into Iris’s Pants.
Omg!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE and yes!! "LOVE"!! This book. Words cannot express how amazing this book is. Linda Oaks takes romance to a whole new level! It had me on the edge of my seat and never mind the hotness level is off the charts! This book just drew me in, held me by the collar and never let go!
“My momma always told me to never trust a man who said trust me.”
Iris what a beautiful lady, head strong, independent woman. She had a plan to land the famous, Chance Logan. It was a dangerous plan but she liked to play with fire.
How could this man drive me crazy with lust one moment and then leave me with the insatiable urge to kill him the next?
Chance What a man. he was sexy as all hell, dirty talker, naughty, seductive, everything I love in a alpha male. He was every girl's dream guy.
What the hell did she just say? Oh yes, she did. If she went home with anyone, it would damn well be me .
Thank you so much Linda Oaks for giving us the incredible and heart warming love journey of Chance and Iris. I will never forget this experience
Let me just start with how amazing of an author Linda Oaks is. Fighting for a chance is an amazing book. Chance and Chase lost their mother at a young age and haven't been since. When his eyes land on Iris at the Drunken Star, he's a goner. Iris is just trying to raise nine year old Alice and doesn't need the complication of a relationship, especially with Chance " The Savage" Logan. But when Chance proves he can be there for her and Alice will she be able to lower her defenses? I loved reading this book and anything Linda Oaks writes blows me away. This book is an absolute must read!
Chance!!! You will totally fall in love with 'the Savage' as he falls in love with Iris. After the childhood that Chance and his twin brother Chase survived, Chance never thought falling in love with someone would be something he could do. He didn't think he had it in his heart to love someone like that and be faithful to them. Until he met Iris. Until he decided that she was his and he had to keep her safe and do anything he could to make her his. He had never felt this way about any woman and he couldn't help or stop his feelings for her and he wasn't sure he wanted to. All he knew as that he wanted her. Iris was keeping a big secret from Chance. A secret that brought her her and brought her to Chance. One that would destroy everything once she told him. She never expect to feel this way about him. Never expected to see this side of him and to see that he was a good man. Not the man her sister described. Iris wanted him but could she have him. Could she have him after she told him the truth. I fell in love with Chance!!!! If Iris wasn't going to have him well then I would take him!! Good God this man was amazing!!! He was strong, sexy, sweet, loving, alpha, HE COULD COOK, and he wanted her so bad. Chance wanted to keep Iris and Alice safe. He wanted to love them both!!! I honestly fell in love with Chance early on in the book and by the end I was ready to marry the guy!! Iris better look out!!! This is a must read!!!!! Once again the author out did herself with another wonderful story and another hot guy for all of us to fall in love with!!!!!!
Thank you to Linda Oaks for letting me read an ARC.Your books are without a doubt amazing. If you have been keeping up with this series you'll know that chance and his brother have appeared in the previous books and so did iris just for moment in the last book.
What started out as revenge for what happened in Iris past turned out to be something more .Who knew Iris Malone would tame Chance "the savage " logan. These two were adorable .Loved how chance had this hot alpha thing going for him but he also had his romantic side but only for Iris.
Can't forget about wally ..He is very important in this book..
This book was everything I was hoping it would be and more! Chance and Iris are seriously written perfection. Yes, Chance is the typical playboy. And yes, there were many times were I wanted to throat punch him. ;) BUT when he was kind, sweet and caring?? That outweighed anything else. Iris is so damn brave, strong, independent and selfless. She sacrifices so much. The chemistry between Chance and Iris is so believable. I went through every possible emotion while reading this. Hands down my favorite from Linda!
Let me just start by saying thank you to Linda Oaks. It all started as a revenge and lies. No one was supposed to get hurt let alone no one was supposed to fall in love. Iris Malone went in search of answers. She didn't expect to fall hard for the Savage. Chance Logan aka the Savage was A man whore never went in for seconds. Till Iris Fucking Malone. She was better then cake he wanted seconds. Lies Hurt Revenge Love "When You Know, You Just Know"
Heart wrenching emotional introduction to a sensational book by Linda Oaks. The storyline and characters where refreshing and exciting right from the very first chapter. The writing was smooth and easy to read, which helped me read the book in one sitting. Linda's expression of her words felt like you where watching a movie develop right in front of you. Definitely a must read.
This is the fourth installment in the “The Chasing” series by Author Linda Oaks and the very first book I’ve had the pleasure of reading from this series. I really enjoyed reading the story of Iris Malone and Chance Logan, so much so that I will be reading the first three books of the series before I move to installment number 5.
Iris Malone had one purpose in mind when she left her hometown and that was to find the men who were responsible for providing her sister, Elena with the drugs she overdosed with and the man who left her behind pregnant without even a second thought. After selling her family home and leaving Elena in a care facility, Iris takes her young niece, Alice and drives them both to Rochester, New York. Iris’ plan was simple, make Chance Logan fall for her hard and break his heart just as he had done to his sister.
Chance Logan lived by one rule, to have any woman at least once, but he never went back for seconds, no matter how tempting that woman was. After a few weeks of intense training with his brother, Chance finally decides that hes had enough of training and stops by his favorite bar, The Drunken Start where he and his brother Chase were more than regulars. This is when he meets Iris Malone, the newest addition to the staff at The Drunken Star. Iris was not his type (physically) but there was something about her that made it impossible for him to look away, in fact, he finds himself wanting her in his bed, Iris Malone will be his next conquest.
This is when both of their worlds collide and all bets are off. Chance is not afraid to feel more for Iris and he really didn’t try to stop his intense feelings for her. He is also felt protective of Iris’ young sister, Alice, unaware of all the secrets and Iris’ dark agenda.
Iris tried her best to resist her feelings for Chance, but the more time she spent with him and young Alice, Iris began to realized that maybe, this man was not the man her sister had described. He is attentive, sweet and protective not just of her but of Alice.
Iris’ plan for revenge backfires when Elena finally succumbs to health complications and Iris is forced to return to her hometown to retrieve Elena’s ashes. Soon after arriving, Iris and Alice stop at a small diner for breakfast, it is then that Iris is faced with the hard truth about Alice’s real father and realizes that she has made the biggest mistake of her life.
I highly recommend you give this series and Author a chance! The story is beautifully written and you will enjoy reading!!
Iris Malone is a girl with a plan. She has goals and nothing is going to jeopardize that, including Chance Logan. Chance is training for the fight that will finally bring him recognition as a heavy weight boxer and isn’t the type of man to settle down. Chance is a notorious ladies man, never being with the same girl twice, and Iris knows she shouldn’t get mixed up with a guy like that. Iris has Alice to think about and care for, no time for trouble. Chance has been warned to stay away from Iris, that she’s too nice a girl to bother with him, but he can’t help the near animal attraction he has for her. She feels every bit of the same attraction and has to fight every moment she is around him to keep her head clear and keep going with her plan. Iris and Alice are new to the city and make fast friends with Candy, who helps Iris get a job at The Drunken Star pub where she works with Irish owner, Mick. Mick and his wife Molly quickly became more like family to Iris and Alice and warn Chance to leave them alone. Chance being the bull headed man he is just can’t get Iris out of his head. Will Iris’ secrets and her devious plan keep them apart? Can she keep her cool to figure out what she has come so far to discover? This couple seemed all sorts of wrong for each other at first. With a relationship based on secrets and Chance’s one track mind, they seemed doomed from the start. However, Chance is persistent and for the first time in a long time, he seems to have his head on straight and want more than one night with Iris. He fights tooth and nail to even get Iris to spend time with him, and she fights him right back to keep him at arm’s length. Chance and his twin brother, Chase had an impossibly hard childhood and it has warped their minds a bit to what they should want out of life. Iris and Candy really are just the girls to get them to see there is more out there than fleeting experiences and heavy drinking. I was surprised how sweet Chance turned out to be. He didn’t seem capable at first and as the layers of his character were exposed, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself rooting for him and was brought almost to tears by the end! Linda Oaks has written a beautiful story here and was such a pleasure to read! I give “Fighting for a Chance” five stars!
Fighting for a Chance by Linda Oaks was a very entertaining 4 star read. I really enjoyed the plot and was really left guessing at what would happen next. I got so caught up in this story and the characters in it that I couldn't wait to see what would happen next. You will root for Iris and Chance from the very beginning and hope they get it together. I am not an Insta love fan and was so relieved that this book didn't have that. I loved seeing the progression and how things played out for the characters and the growth that they made.
You meet Iris a very strong willed stubborn woman who is fierce and independent. She is very protective and comes into this book with some false information which leads get to form harsh judgements of someone that are undeserved. I won't say any more than that to not give anything away. She meets Chance and is very guarded and untrusting since she has been hurt in the past and is inexperienced. She didn't feel she deserves to be happy and had to fight hard to overcome that. Chance battles with her to prove it to her and himself as well.
Then you meet Chance a self proclaimed player who never takes seconds on women or fights. He encounters Iris and is instantly intrigued when she blows him off and won't take interest in his advances as she has no interest in a one night stand or a player. He slowly realizes as things progress that this woman is someone he just can't shake. He begins to realize his feelings and take actions to prove he is serious. He starts to break down Iris and her walls.
I have to talk about Alice also because I feel she is an integral part of this book and really helps to shape things. She is Iris’s niece but more so her daughter as she has cared for her side she was a baby. Alice is a beautiful little girl who loves fiercely and always makes the best of everything. She is your typical strong willed child and really helps to encourage things between Iris and Chance.
You will enjoy this book and I can't wait to read the the second book in the series. I'm guessing and maybe hoping it will be about Chase and Candy. They are some other great characters you will love! Read this book you will enjoy every minute of it.
Title Fighting For A Chance Author Linda Oaks 5 Stars Chance and his twin brother Chase once again tried to divert the abuse from their father to their beloved mother, getting caught in between them had been hit instead of their mother. After telling Chance she loved him she said she needed a quick trip to the bathroom and then would prepare supper. They were the last words Chance would hear from her. Worried that their father would be home soon, and the fact that their mother had not started supper yet he went in search of her. Breaking into the bathroom she saw his beloved mom in the bath not breathing. Taking her out of the bath he tried to revive her but it was too late. Fourteen years later in a bar called The Drunken Star he spots a new waitress. Although he tells himself that her breasts are too small for his liking but the ass is certainly worth looking at. The new waitress is Iris who has just moved to town with her young niece whom she is bringing up. Alice is the only family that Iris has left with the passing of both parents, her sister Elena and her grandparents. While Chance was hell bent on making Iris his own she was just as hell bent on keeping him at a distance. Until Chance saw Iris his motto in life when it came to women was to have sex with them and get rid of them, so why was this woman having him think differently? Emotions between Chance and Iris were getting too involved for Iris’s liking. As far as Iris was concerned there was no chance in hell that Chance Logan was getting in her pants. Chance however had different ideas, whenever he thought of Iris and April they were his girls so why was she making this so hard when it should have been easy. Iris was on a mission to confront Chance whom she had been told was Alice’s father. But was she right? Had she been lied to by Elena? This boxing fight of Chance’s career was upon him and he could not get Iris out of his mind. He had phoned her to come and bring Alice but Iris had ignored the calls. All he wanted was to see the face of his love and she was not there. Tickets had been left at the door for Iris and Alice the question now was would they be there to see this fight?
LIFE IS A SAVAGE!! Fighting for a Chance is part of the Chasing Series and Linda Oaks has not disappointed with this book! Chance and Chase Logan are identical twins and they are as close now as they were when they were kids. They didn’t have the best childhood a kid could want. Their father was an abuser causing their mother to commit the worse thing a mom can do to her kids! Now they are grown men and both say they will never settle down and be parents. Partying and having a different woman every night is their goal, and they are fulfilling their goals. The two brothers’ own a gym, because Chance is a up and coming boxer with a big fight in his future and Chase is his trainer. Their lives are going along smooth as can be. UNTIL Iris is a waitress at The Drunken Star along with her best friend Candy. Candy is helping Iris and Alice, who everyone thinks is her little sister, out by letting them stay at her apartment. Even though it is only a one bedroom they all get along very well! Iris has moved to town looking for someone to exact revenge on for hurting her sister who is in a rehab institution. This man is known as a womanizer and has no respect for the opposite sex, or so Iris has been told. Her plan is to make him fall for her and then destroy him! She will do what it takes to make a living for her and Alice and do what she needs to do. Sometimes Iris is sad because she knows she can’t give Alice anything but the bare-essentials. Alice is a happy child and a good student and for that Iris thanks her lucky stars. Chance and Chase are regulars at The Drunken Star and one night Chance has noticed Iris and how beautiful she is or at least her back side is. He wants her but she wants nothing to do with him. Candy warned her against the two brothers. Chance can’t get Iris off his mind and here is where the chase begins. Can Chance get to Iris and make her his or is Iris too determine to get the revenge she needs? Iris finds out Alice’s true story but will it be too late? Linda Oaks is one of my favorite Authors! She knows how to tell me a story that I can’t put down and it so well written I won’t forget it! Thank you, Linda Oaks!!
It all began with a secret. A cross of paths that altered a life. Iris Malone had a plan of revenge. She searched for the man known as “The Savage.” Chance Logan was one of the most promising heavyweight contenders on the planet. Someone would pay Completely loved this book!! From the very beginning where it takes you back to Chance and Chase as young boys and the horrible past that they endured and how they managed to survive with the help of each other. Then back to the present where the brothers party, drink and have all the women that they want . They also own a gym and Chance is a boxer with Chase as his trainer. Life is good for the brothers. Then enter Iris and Candy, to shake up the brothers world. I loved the interaction between the main characters, from Candy and Chase’s relationship to the cat and mouse game that Iris and Chance have going on. Chance is falling hard for Iris and she is for him, but she has some underlying issues from her past that she must and feels that she needs to take care of first before she will give her heart to Chance. The talented Linda Oaks has written the story beautifully, giving you both Chance and Iris’s pint of view. The story is one of past hurt and the need for revenge mixed in with love, happiness and dreams for a ell deserved future of security, family and undying love.
Twins Chance and Chase grew up with an abusive alcoholic father who beat their mother. She finally gave up the fight and left her boys in a very tragic way. They were then raised by their Pap who they adored. After he passed they didn't have any other family. As much as they could get on each other's nerves they'd always have each other's back. They went through life enjoying woman. They grew up watching their father cheat and use woman. They never wanted to give their heart to someone and give them the power to hurt them or be left by someone again.
Iris had met Candy near the shelter where she was staying with Alice. She landed Iris a job and was currently allowing Alice and Iris to crash at her apartment. Iris was happy to not have have to stay at the shelter or in her car, which Iris and Alice had done while traveling to get into town saving what little money they had for food and gas. They were basically living off Candy’s charity. Iris felt like she was failing Alice. She deserved better. Alice was the only family Iris had left.
“It was getting harder and harder to resist him. Sometimes, I wondered why I even tried. Then I’d remember what had brought me here to Rochester in the first place….The thought of what I’d almost done left a sour taste in my mouth. That stupid plan. I should just explain to Chance who I really was and why I’d come here. But then I’d risk losing him, not that he was really even mine, was he? Were we only a distraction for him until someone better came along? Chance wasn’t mine, but the more time I spent in his presence, I found myself wishing things were different. Was it possible that a man like Chance Logan could ever belong to anyone else other than himself? Life was so complicated at times.”
Iris had been living a lie. She was afraid once she came clean about why she came to town with Alice she'd lose everyone she started to get close to. Was it too late to reveal her secret? Would she be forgiven? Would she finally get the answers she was looking for?
I did NOT read any of the blurbs or teasers on this book and went in blind. I am going to write my review based on that same premise, although if you are reading the review – you’ve already got the gist of what this story is about.
Fighting For A Chance by Linda Oaks (Book One in The Chasing Series) is the story of Chance “The Savage” Logan & Iris “f***ing” Malone . Chance is a boxer who happens to own a gym and share a house with his identical twin brother Chase. Iris is a recent transplant to town who is couch surfing on her new BFF’s couch and is relying on the kindness of the new people she has met to emotionally support her.
Chance and Chase are players, they are hard drinking, hard f***ing guys who have a tragic past and have grown up on their own. They are super fit, super good looking and can get any girl they want – in fact, in the past they have shared the girls they play with. Chance is training for a future fight which could bring him into the main stage, belt winning world of boxing. Chase is his trainer.
Iris has lost both of her parents and is paying for her sister to remain on life support after an overdose. She has left the town she grew up in to travel to a new place with the little girl she is raising.
Chance and Candy meet in a bar called “The Drunken Star” and she resists his advances on the advice of her friend Candy and boss Mick. Chance is pretty powerful in his pursuit of Iris, he’s knows she’s too innocent for him but it just makes the reward all the sweeter.
I really enjoyed this story and could feel the pressure that Iris was in to get her life straightened out. Working as many shifts as can be to get tips to be able to live life.
This story had me reading from beginning to end. It is a standalone with a happily ever after premise.
Fighting for a chance: The Chasing series book 4 by Linda Oaks 5 stars Mild violence Adult content Sexual situations
Oh...I don't even know where to begin with this one. I enjoyed this book so much! It had me laughing throughout the story . The chemistry amongst the characters is absolutely fantastic. Chance and Chase are identical twin brothers who had a terrible childhood growing up. Their mother passed away when they were quite young. And their father was alcoholic who couldn't keep a job to save his life. They are very similar and yet, quite different. They both love to party and have fun. And well… they both love women… all shapes, sizes, it doesn't matter to them. But they only want them for one thing and one thing only. Neither one of them have the need or desire for any relationship. To get past his frustrations .. Chance took up boxing,And he's really good. “The Savage” Chance Logan dedicates all his free time to boxing. He and his brother own a gym together. So other than that.. he doesn't have much going on. He isn't interested in dating anyone. Until Iris Malone… Iris is an independent and incredibly strong woman. She is a single woman and raising her 9 year old niece. Life hasn't always been easy for her. But she is determined to make the best of it. And raise Alice to the best of her ability. The chemistry between Iris and Chance is undeniable. But Iris is scared, she's not ready for any relationship yet. But when Chance slowly takes down Iris’ walls she's built up around herself. Can she let him in and take a chance?? Can Chance help her after she gets some devastating news and her world comes crashing down around her?? Or will Iris push him away since and for all?? If you enjoy a good love story… you must read this book!! I highly enjoyed this book!! I can not wait to read more from this author! Job well done!!!!!
Fighting for a Chance is apart of The Chasing Series, and it was absolutely amazing!! Linda Oaks just keeps getting better and better! 5 Star Read!!
Chance and Chase Logan are twins, identical twins as a matter of fact, they're as close as two brothers can get. Growing up was rough, they had father who was an abuser, and their mother was less than stellar, and commits the worst crime a mother can commit. Now that they're grown men, they both never want to get married and have children, after the childhood they had, they want nothing to do with love, relationships or parenting. They enjoy a woman for a night, and then move on. Content with running their gym together, Chance is an up and coming boxer and Chase is his trainer. Everything is going exactly the way they want.
Enter, Candy and her co-worker Iris, and Iris "little sister" Alice. Candy decides to help them out by letting them stay at her one bedroom apartment, sure it's a tight squeeze, but they get along great. Iris only moved to town for one thing and one thing only, revenge.
Iris works at The Drunken Star, where Chance and Chase are regulars at. Iris has caught Chance's eyes, and now Chance has decided that he wants Iris, and he wants her in a way he has never wanted anyone else. He never thought he could fall in love, never thought that a woman could bring him to his knees, never thought that there would ever be a woman who consumed all his thoughts. But Iris is keeping a secret. Not just a tiny secret, but a big one, it's the reason she's here, and the reason she met Chance. What happens when Chance finds out? Will it destroy him? Will it ruin their relationship? Can they recover from this?
This was such an amazing book! Linda Oaks has once again completely outdone herself!
Nothing is better than reading a great book! Way to go Linda Oaks! There’s always a past that tries to get in the way of the characters present and their future. Fighting for a Chance is no different in that sense. However Linda Oaks takes us above and beyond other books. Everyone wants to be happy, even the toughest playboys and the most damaged girls. “Pure joy and happiness — everything I don’t deserve in this life . I’m not an easy man to know, Iris. There are things in my past that can’t be undone, but when I look at you… there’s a light inside of you that makes me want all of those things I thought I could never have.” Chance and Chase are twins and are up-and-coming in the boxing world. They love women and sometimes more than one and even on occasion they have shared a woman. Any hook ups have always been just a one time deal for Chance. He never wanted to be tied down. But there was something about Iris that he just couldn’t shake. Iris is a woman determined to not become another notch on the Logan Brothers bed post. But there’s something about Chance that she just can’t shake. She’s on a mission to right a wrong and make sure Alice is taken care of, always. She keeps secrets that may destroy everything she is working for. Will she be able to resist his charms or is fighting for Chance her destiny? Fighting for a Chance is book 4 in The Chasing Series! However it can be read as a standalone. I have a feeling that the secondary characters, Candy, Chase, Alice and Elena have quite the story to tell of their own. And since I love the way Linda Oaks tells a story, I can not wait to read them.
This is a good book and very well written. I was crying in the first chapter and managed to cry a few other times too. I hate seeing kids with past trauma but love to see how they can build themselves into productive members of society. That is what you get with Chance and his twin brother Chase and with Iris.
When the boys were younger, early teens their mother committed suicide after many years of physical abuse by their father. Chance was the one who found her in the bathroom after busting in the door. It affected them both caused emotional scars. Their wonderful father left them with physical scars both before and after their mother died.
Iris is a young woman trying to figure life out and just get by. She works in a bar at night with her best friend Candy while taking care of Alice, a spunky 9-year-old. She doesn’t have enough money but is doing the best she can after both of her parents died and her sister in a rehab facility in a vegetative state. Once night while working at the bar she meets Chance and he decides then he must have her.
Chance doesn’t do relationships and Iris doesn’t have time to deal with yet another complication in her life, but that does not stop him from trying to get her from under his skin and though she keeps fighting it, she just can’t stay away from him. She is a moth to his flame.
Chance’s twin brother and Iris’s best friend Candy are great and I loved them! I also loved the owner of the bar Max and his protectiveness of the girls. I would love to see these characters again, maybe in Alice’s story after she grows up.
Fighting For A Chance written by Linda Oaks is an AWESOME STORY! The author did a beautiful job in describing what was happening in the story. She did an incredible job in creating awesome characters. I found it a fast and easy read. It most definitely kept my interest of what was going to happen next. What was the sexy character named, Chance going to do next. How was he going to get through Iris’ shell.
The more I read I realized that Iris was keeping a secret! A secret!!!!! A secret that will effect more than one life!
I loved all of the characters in this story! Chance was the INCREDIBLY SEXY, COCKY fighter who dripping of sexy appeal! Iris was the new girl in town who trying to carryout her secret but I don’t think it worked it out she planned! I had to read to the end to see how things ended! I was really rooting for Iris and Chance to get it together for one and for all!
I loved some of the other characters as well! Mick was an awesome! He did a nice job as the surrogate dad/grandpa for Iris and her sister! He was good and tough with Chance! I loved Chance’s twin brother, Chase! The poor boy his heart on his sleeve while trying to be the playboy at the same time! Candy was funny! Every girl has friend like her!
All and All I think it phenomenal story! I am giving it 5 stars! I also thought the cover was awesome and I love a good cover to a book!
Iris Malone is a young woman working at The Drunken Star and barely making ends meet. After uprooting her life, she is barely hanging on and questioning why she chose the path her life is currently on. The only thing Iris knows for certain is that she needs to stay away from Chance Logan, even though he’s the reason behind everything she’s done.
Chance Logan is the resident bad boy and the only thing on his mind is winning his next fight and scoring another notch on his bedpost. And this time his sights are set on Iris. Will he be able to uncover her secrets? Or will Iris be the first fight he may not win?
I thoroughly enjoyed this book – I was expecting a lot of alpha posturing, but Chance’s character is very well-developed. He just doesn’t fight in the ring – Chance has a lot of personal demons he’s wrestling with. The playboy persona is not who he really is – it’s a way to keep his emotions at bay. His pursuit of Iris and the small things he does for her show that there’s more to him. Chance is not entirely an angel, though. Many times he thought about giving up on Iris, but that just made him more real. And Iris has demons of her own. She is constantly struggling with her decisions and the secrets that she carries. The author did an excellent job of making her pain real, without revealing what Iris is struggling with.
I highly recommend this standalone, HEA that is told in alternating points of view.
Five Stars For some reason the song from pretty little liars comes in my mind. Secret is the song and for some reason when I was reading this as a pretty little liars song comes to my mind.
Everyone has secrets and the ones that Iris holds below the surface are more than most would be able to hold. And as for Chance he doesn’t know why Iris is not falling for his charms at first but she keeps reminding herself she was not going to fall for whatever he is trying to give her.
You get to see the strong Iris overcoming fears that shouldn’t even be hers and come out with the secret that she had been holding back for so long. And you get to see Chance try to break down every single barrier that she had.
Iris is the kind of person that you can relate to, her insecurities and how she feels about Chance. It is nice to see that this character is so real. I absolutely feel in love with how her reactions with Chance.
Chance though he was cocky he was the kind of guy that you could fell in love with. Sure he had the bad boy act going on but he was the lovable kind of guy. Kind of reminded me of one of my favorite, ultimate characters Logan Kade from Tijan’s books. (This is a complement!) Easy for the girls to fall over them but hard to keep his attention until he found the right person.
By the way I fell in love with Alice she was a story stopping character. I want to see more from Candy as well!
Fighting for a Chance by Linda Oakes. Rated 5 stars
Iris Malone came to a new town with a secret. She is looking for Chance Logan for a little revenge. The thing is Chance doesn't know it yet. Chance “ The Savage” Logan is a boxer, a womanizer and oh so sexy. Iris wants to exact revenge on Chance but she is having a hard time resisting his charms. She takes a job as a waitress to be near him so she can learn more about him. Chance sees the new waitress and is spellbound. He has had a string of women in the past and he wants to add Iris to that string. Problem is Iris isn't interested in being added and vows to never be a one night stand of his. This reason and her beauty cause Chance to become fixated on Iris. He decided to try wooing her and when he is able to kiss her. Wow! That is the best feeling ever! Iris can't believe these feelings that Chance elicits from her. She must resist and remember the reason she is doing this. How can she get her revenge when she is falling for Chance?
This book was a slow seduction on Iris. Chance just kept working on her until she finally gave in and spent some time with him. Then she was hooked by his charm and the sexual tension that is always between them. I really liked this book. There is actually quite a bit going on between all the characters. I didn't even mention his twin brother and boxing manager Chase and his girlfriend Candy. Everything just seems to flow along and I had a hard time putting it down
Fighting for a Chance is a fabulous addition to The Chasing Series by Linda Oaks. The story line is great it had me hooked from the beginning. “when you knew , you just knew.” Never again would I have to fight alone, to fight for a chance at happiness or a chance to be loved for who I was. The story alternates between Iris and Chance. Iris is a strong lead character. She is new in town with her niece Alice they meet Candy and the rest is history. They become great friends she has a job, a new “family”…until Chance Logan enters the picture. Chance and Chase Logan are the town heartbreakers. They have made their rounds with the ladies when it comes to what they want, Chance had a strict one time only rule while Chase is more lax as long as he gets what he needs. How successful can a relationship be when she’s the relationship type and he’s not… Can Chance learn to become a dependable family man and actually date someone who has custody of her niece …when hes never even slept with someone over night. Can Iris work through her issues and let Chance in…or will he find out her big secret and end it.. What do you get when you mix a girl with a huge secret and a guy who wants no type of commitment? You get Fighting For A Chance. Linda Oaks did a great job with this books and I can’t wait to see if Chase and Candy get a book of their own with all the drama and difficult situations they went through in this story or who will be next in the series.
Fighting for a Chance by Linda Oaks is a five star novel. Chance and his twin brother Chase are the best of friends. They have to be the way their home life is. Dad is either at work or drunk at home screaming at them or their mom or using his fists. Finally one day, their mom decides she has had enough and can't deal with life anymore. After Chance finds her in the bathroom, he knows their life will never be the same. They have to start moving around because their dad can't hold a steady job and what money he gets, he spends on booze. They decide they are going to move away when they are old enough and that is exactly what they do. They both know they will never be the marrying type because of their fear to turn into their father. So they make rules about their relationships. Rule number 1: never sleep with the same girl twice. Really that is the only rule. Chase sometimes bends this rule a little but Chance never does. Then he meets Iris. She is new to town. He doesn't know anything about her except she is not his type. Everything he usually goes after in a conquest is the exact opposite of this girl. After hanging out with her some, he knows he needs to get to her but she knows what he is all about and refuses to have a one night stand. She has too many responsibilities, including Alice to not take relationships seriously. She can not deny the pull she feels towards him though. Why can't he be a normal guy?
