Welcome to the Enchanted Pony Academy, where glittery ponies learn how to use their magic!
Daisy is thrilled to be attending the Enchanted Pony Academy, where glitter ponies learn to use their magic. But she's nervous, too. Daisy's hooves are sparkly, just like every other magical pony's, but they don't give off glitter. And worse, she has no idea what her magical power might be!
Will the Academy help Daisy discover her magic and make all her dreams come true . . . or will she learn that there's been a huge mistake?
First sentence: "I don't belong here." Daisy shook her mane, backing away from the crowd of ponies waiting to climb the rainbow to the Enchanted Pony Academy.
Premise/plot: All That Glitters is the first book in a new early chapter book series. I believe each chapter book will feature a different magical pony. This first book is all about Daisy. Daisy's problem is that she doesn't believe in herself and she doesn't feel she's special enough to have magic and be destined to become a royal pet. Every single page--well, every other page at least--drives home the message that Daisy is more special than she knows, that she should just BELIEVE, BELIEVE, BELIEVE in herself and everything will fall into place.
My thoughts: Good news, bad news: what you see is what you get. No surprises, no twists. If the idea of magical ponies climbing rainbow stairs and leaving glittery trails behind them sounds like a good match for you--or your child--then congratulations, it's a series. For me, as an adult reader, let's just say I'm glad it's not a TV show or I'd be hunting for the remote before the theme song got stuck in my head.
For the record, I do wholeheartedly believe that young children just learning to read, learning to love reading, NEED series books.
Daisy is really excited to be going to the Enchanted Pony Academy, where glitter ponies like her hone their special magic. Even though this is a wonderful chance, she's nervous, too. Daisy's iridescent hooves are sparkly and shiny, just like all of the other magical ponies, but they don't give off glitter like everyone else. Still worse, she hasn't the faintest clue what her unique special ability might be! Will she overcome her nerves and fins her special ability?
This is a four book series, and each book stars a different glitter pony. These books are perfect for ages 6-10. They're great if your child likes horses or unicorns! When I read these books, I was around 8 and I was obsessed! My friend was reading them with me and we would talk about them any chance we got! It was like our own little book club lol.

Daisy was born with glittery hooves, which means she has a "glitter gift" and gets to attend a magical school. However, she doesn't have a lot of confidence in herself because she doesn't know her gift AND her hooves don't leave the glitter trail that they are supposed to. Luckily she makes friends and comes into her own at school.
Cute enough, but Daisy is such a downer, always very mopey about her lack of glitter. Good for younger kids reading above grade levels. I don't know that 4th graders would be into this, but it's at a 4th grade level.
Reading Level: O, but interest level for K-2. Perfect for young, strong readers, and must like ponies! I can see beginning elementary-aged girls really getting into this series.
Theme: Self-confidence and not giving up, yet the main character only feels better when she becomes more like everyone else. Kind of fun that the antagonist in this story is the main character - no bullies, jerks, or evil characters - makes for a very clean read.
Fun Fact: The idea for this first book, and the series, came from a mother and 10-year-old daughter team.
Unicorns, sea ponies, flying ponies with glitter hooves, this series is about an Enchanted Pony Academy for magical ponies. It will be exciting to discover the other mythical creatures coming up in the next title in the series. Young chapter book readers will gobble this series up. Finding books with magical ponies is rare, this is a perfect choice for readers always searching for the next step up from princess picture books.
My 5 year old daughter loved this book. She laughed and giggled and gasped and begged for one more chapter. It has a great message about being a good friend and believing in yourself the 5 star rating is per my daughter- haha.
This book was magical and had creativity, but my 5 year old didn’t seem to be as into it as other chapter books. It just didn’t hold her attention compared to others.
All That Glitters is the first book in the Enchanted Pony Academy series. Daisy is thrilled to be going to the enchanted pony academy with all the other magical ponies. There's only one problem: she doesn't have her magic yet! The other ponies at the academy have amazing magical abilities, such as being able to talk to animals or fly, and Daisy is worried that she will never find out what her magic is. With the princes and princesses from all over the world visiting the academy soon to take a look at the horses, Daisy will have to create a performance without her magic. Will Daisy be able to give a good performance? And, more importantly, will Daisy ever be able to find her magic?
This is a fun and magical read that young readers will love. The premise of this book is similar to the Unicorn Academy series, which I also loved. Daisy, the main character, is very likeable and the reader can relate to her anxieties despite the magical elements in the story. There is plenty of magic in this book to suit young fantasy readers and the elegant writing style transports you to the magical world and will engage readers. The language is simple with a few challenging words, making the book suitable for children just moving on from early chapter books (such as Rainbow Magic).
Ideal for: young readers aged 7-10, particularly girls.
The worst part for me was the ending, those bratty princesses only wanted the main pony because she was magical. I honesty don't know why I read this, its way out of my age range. must have been bored or something.

All That Glitters is a great book for young readers. The characters all have their own personalities which is wonderful and Lisa paints them with words so wonderfully. The main character in this story is taught to never give up and to believe in herself and that is the perfect model that young kids, girls, need in their lives. The seaponies are super cute! Great little read, perfect for the classroom shelf.
