I didn’t like this book very much. Although I understand the intention behind the theme, I feel that both the development of the situations and the narrative voice are lacking. It doesn’t seem narrated by a girl who loses her sister to illness, but rather by a (poorly simulated) autistic person who feels nothing and connects with nothing happening around her. I feel that the story uses a theme with a pitiful intention that might reach the less experienced reader, but for someone with a bit more discernment, the vision of childhood presented here seems poor and condescending.
