Clichéd sentiments of love are not my thing. Instead, I give into raw temptation and thrive on the physical aspects of what men have to offer. Unemotional, carnal connections are what I live for, and they seem to keep me in a blissfully naïve state.
I’ve gone years with a different man in a different bed each night, but one glance from a ruminating stranger as he lifts my panties to his nose narrows my attraction from multiple men to only one.
I’m not entirely sure how to process the thoughts and passions battling in my mind until he gives me no other choice…until I’m thrust into an unstable emotional high that I cannot seem to resist.
His objective is to break me in and savor me as if I’m his favorite bottle of single malt whiskey.
I’m well aware of my sensual dependencies. He’s unaware that his still exist.
This novel contains mature themes, strong language, and sexual situations. It is intended for adult readers.
A self-published author by night and all around busybody by day, Sasha is an international baby, born in gorgeous South Africa. Her cultured lifestyle is one that many don’t get to experience. When she’s not preoccupied with reading romance novels, she’s hashing out new ways to translate a titillating and libidinous scene onto a page.
Blended, is a beautiful, heart breaking, soul searing novel from Sasha Brümmer. Blended bleeds angst, it surged every emotion within me, pushing them to my limit and well past it at times. The feels are seriously off the chain!! My heart broke so many times. My stomach dropped. I got angry, I got crazy. I cried, I laughed, I swooned. I just about experienced EVERYTHING! And it was breathtaking!
Blended, is a story of love, healing and slow burning passion. Hadley and Wade are intense in every aspect. They are fire and ice. Together they one of a kind.
Hadley is a character that grew on me. I have to be honest and say from the start I really couldn't get into her, her behaviour and beliefs were something I couldn't comprehend, but here is where Sasha needs major praise. The way she manages to build on Hadley and “make her better” is brilliant. I connected a lot more to her as the story went on, still I wanted to shake her, many times in fact BUT in the end I got it.
Wade. Mr whiskey himself. Dangerous to the heart, delicious and seriously swoony. This guy was perfect! For the story, for Hadley, for me! His sinful words and breathtaking beauty was just like an arrow to the heart..
Sasha has done a great job with Blended, her first novel on her own. Sasha's writing strength builds throughout the story and I believe her next book in the series will be even better! I can't wait to read more of her words.
"I do not understand what brought me to her, or how life has handed me this deck of cards, but I refuse to argue with the queen of hearts. Apparently, my love is enough, and I’ll settle for that. For my cup of whiskey."
Hadley is young, sexy and beautiful. Emotional and sexual childhood traumas have turned her into a sex addict. She has a high sex drive, she’s emotionally vulnerable, she uses sex to medicate her emotional pain and feels the need for more sex in order to feel “normal”.
Wade is a former sex addict and when he and Hadley meet for the first time, they are attracted to each other like magnets. He knows that in order to win her heart and help her recover, he has to build a healthy relationship with Hadley, avoiding any sexual activity with her. Can she face the challenge and find love with Wade?
This was a refreshing read. I really enjoyed Wade & Hadley and their love story told in an emotional uphill battle at times. It’s been a while since a book has kept me that excited through the whole thing. The author covered a variety of situations that we all deal with from time to time: true friendship, building walls to keep people out, avoiding relationships for fear of having your heart broken, addictions and unexpected health issues. The range of emotions covered in this book round out to what a complete novel should be…it was absolutely perfect!!
I loved the chemistry, the witty humor, the heartache and the raw emotion that were portrayed in this book. I will just say that the story is sweet, gritty, edgy and deals with addictions. If you are looking for a story that is a little different; I highly recommend Blended.
One of the things I love about what I do is reading great new indie authors. Sasha Brummer is a definite up and comer in the romance world. I had the pleasure of reading an advanced copy of Blended her debut standalone novel. I will say it loud and proud, this was one angsty novel. If angst and heavy pasts are your gig, this is right up your alley.
For me, I most enjoyed the depth of the characters, specifically Hadley. She was the perfect example of a woman who has suffered and survived a brutal past. There was such beauty in the way the character was constantly clawing her way through her negative instincts to find honest happiness. The hero and the secondary characters were fun additions leaving the reader wanting to know more about where their lives are headed.
As far as first novels go, I think Sasha did a wonderful job. I look forward to seeing her growth in the novels to come.
"Blended is an intriguing, agnst filled tale of hardship, broken pasts, and survival. In this book, Sasha Brummer proves love is not always given freely, it must be earned." ~Audrey Carlan, #1 NYT Bestselling Author
Have you ever read a book and, when it was time to write up the review, thought to yourself, “How the ever loving hell am I going to put into words how much I loved this book?”
Well, that is my current dilemma. I loved this book so hard that I have NO WORDS!
There is so much in this book that I was not expecting. It made me feel like I had been sucked into the story and was a character, too. The fact that I was unable to put this book down and be a wife/mom was troubling for my family, but I didn’t care. One day without eating won’t kill them, will it? (KIDDING!! ...kind of!)
Sasha Brümmer really did the book world justice by putting into words a fantastic story filled with angst, lust, drama, hot sex, and friendships you want to be a part of. The only thing that would have made this more perfect? Me as the leading lady! Haha!
Jokes aside, I truly fell in love with the two main characters and am hoping and praying my dirty little heart out that we will get more books in this series!! ~ Devlynn, 5 stars
An interesting twist. At first I thought this was going to be a romance book between damaged people who meet by accident but bond over a shared love of whiskey. but instead it turns out to be an important cautionary tale about how really expensive liquor causes brain damage in otherwise reasonable adults.
At least that's how I'm going to interpret it. These people are idiots, and the way they bolt down thousand-dollar bottles of the stuff in this book, I'm fairly sure that's the cause. Maybe really expensive whiskey contains more methanol than moonshine? Someone should do a study.
You know that romance trope where one character explodes at another because of a misunderstanding that would be sorted out if the explodee said two words but can't get a word in edgewise/is too much of a doormat to say something? Or the other romance trope where one character decides what's best for another and breaks up with them without even saying one sentence about their assumptions? I do hope there are people around in this pair's future to stop them running with scissors in each hand.
Ok, slightly more serious now. I was looking for a palate cleanser and found this book and given its really high ratings on goodreads and interesting subject matter around sexual addiction I thought it would be worth a try. The main female character is interesting and relatively believable. She has a history of child sexual abuse and as a result is dealing with depression and anxiety partly with a sexual addiction and partly with medication. Unfortunately I can't say the same about the male character, who is our stereotypical billionaire bastard with a secret heart of gold. And like every billionaire ever, has copious free time and treats everyone around him like crap. (Oh wow! I eyerolled so hard I think I strained something). He recognizes her sexual addiction for what it is because he's recovering from it himself and does all the right things to coax her into a relationship (except see previous comments about being an idiot).
The book proceeds through completely made-up drama because these people are idiots and then to some real drama on both their parts. They end up being very supportive of each other and then the book drags for the last third with them being incredibly saccharine while nothing else happens.
The book is too long. The drama is too silly. Some of the dialogue is quite good, particularly with how brash the female main character is about her sexuality, but it's not enough to save the story.

I've never tried whiskey, but after reading this book I think I need to give it a shot! This was my first time reading anything by Sasha Brümmer, and it won't be my last. She had me instantly hooked from page one of Blended. I loved that Hadley wasn't your typical heroine, she was an in your face, brash sex addict. I loved her first meeting with Wade and everything that followed on their tumultuous journey.
I did feel though that as Hadley and Wade helped each other overcome their obstacles, she lost a lot of the spunk that made me love her from the start. I do understand that when we first meet Hadley she was at rock bottom and by the end of the book, she had fought to be the person she turned into. I just missed that fire and sass that drew me to her. Aside from that, I'm thinking (hoping) that I smell a spinoff brewing - I'd LOVE to read about the love triangle that Liam has going on!!
I am so looking forward to reading more in the future from Sasha Brümmer. Her talent is tremendous and she is no doubt one to watch!!
Blended was a steamy and intense story about overcoming addictions by finding love instead. It grabbed me from page one and sucked me in. All of the characters were multi-dimensional and interesting. This story was well-written, angsty, and romantic-I highly recommend it!
"F**k whomever you want. I'm the one that will make you swoon."
And boy did I swoon. This story will melt your heart and your kindle!
Plot: Wade meets Rye in an elevator in Las Vegas. She just lost her job and is moving in with a friend in Chicago. Wade just so happens to live in Chicago. He was in Vegas on business and indulging a sexcation. Don’t worry, it’s part of his legitimate ‘therapy.’
Rye worked as a black jack dealer and supposedly had enough money to live comfortably. Don’t know how. He recognizes the signs of sexual addiction and tries to cure her.
Presumptuous of him since she never asked for help. He was trying to change her for her own good. That’s basically the plot. Not much to it.
Hero: Wade was of course a billionaire, voted the most eligible bachelor and she should be lucky she was able to turn his head. He rode around on his high horse trying to save Rye. How big does one’s head have to be?
I’m surprised he could walk without falling over. He was also a recovered sex addict, according to him, but I didn’t see it that way. Read below for more details.
Heroine: She started out semi strong. I had high hopes for her the way she seemed to own her sexuality. But as soon as she meets money bags, she does a complete 180. Her struggle didn’t ring true. It had been ingrained in her over years. A coping mechanism for trauma. His DIY therapy methods were preposterous and insulting. I would have laughed in his face if I were Rye. Telling her he’d been to plenty of therapists and through their expert help, had managed to conquer his addiction, but he didn’t think she needed the same. It wasn’t like he couldn’t afford it. They could have gone together. But no, he sets about trying to heal her himself by withholding his magic penis.
Usually authors choose the woman as the main reason the couple doesn’t consummate their relationship. But this is the opposite. She wants it from him bad. Kudos to the author for changing that up. But then the author kills her new-found street cred by giving Wade a magic peen that cures every ailment.
It’s too bad us girls weren’t born with one of those power rods.
I’d… well, I’d… dang, I don’t know what I’d do if I had that much power. I probably wouldn’t be able to handle it since I have a vagina.
See how we get indoctrinated?
Opinion: I went into this story thrilled that I’d found one with a woman that wasn’t painted as a second-class citizen. One who wasn’t afraid to take what she wanted and was proud of it. But the author excused all the heroine’s bold choices by giving her a mental illness. I’m tired of authors who perpetuate gender bias in their writing. I try to avoid books that do that and don’t spend my money lining the pockets of authors who do. However, when I do read one, I now call them on it. No other way to affect change.
As soon as Wade admitted to the reader that he was also a sexual addiction ‘survivor’, I wanted to laugh. He hadn’t conquered it, he’d only put it in a box and gave it time and geographical limitations. He was basically on a poorly constructed sex diet. He thought it was no problem to abstain from any sex act while home in Chicago, but as soon as he hits the state line, it’s on. He was heading to the buffet baby. The purpose of his business visits to Vegas was to partake in sex parties… AKA orgies, and one girl after the other. The struggle was real… hard.
And did I mention he’d had lots of therapy and considered himself cured. He also thought so highly of himself that he was going to personally use his own methods to cure Rye (FMC). His solution? Do things to make her develop feelings for him and then make her abstain from having sex with him.
He wanted her to go cold turkey but wasn’t happy when he found out she had a FB side piece (Holden). By the time Wade decided she was ready for sex, I didn’t care anymore. I skimmed the details of their intimate acts. The fizzle was gone. I was more interested in what her and Holden did.
The push/pull in this story was one of the worst I’ve ever read. And I’m well read in this genre. She ran away from Vegas and went to Chicago. She ran away from AU to LA, then back to AU, then to Chicago. Whiplash inducing. And she tried to Martyr herself for the hero’s happiness. She ends up getting raped… again.
Safety: Rye and Wade had both finished engaging in sexual relations with other people just as the book opened. They hadn’t met. I had no problem with that because they were both behaving equally. My main issue is when men whore it up and women are written to be disgusting if they behave the same.
It means their used up, no longer good enough for a good man when he gets done sowing his wild oats and wants to settle down. That must change.
Once they meet, Wade doesn’t have any other partners, but Rye does. I loved that. Wade takes her on a couple fancy dates and when he brings her home after he wouldn’t put out, she goes to Holden. How many times have we seen men do that in books and movies. The good girl wouldn’t let him go to third base and he takes her home and goes to meet up with his sure thing. I loved that the author did this. At one point, Rye answers the phone while in the middle of Holden giving her oral. Wade hears her and doesn’t like it, but he doesn’t break up with her. I liked that part even more. That’s when he tells her she has a problem and he’s sad for her. He made her feel like crap and until then she was doing okay. He was condescending. Who does he think he is, judging her when he barely knows her.
But don’t worry, he would stand by her while he healed her with his magic… you know what.
it was revealed that back in college he'd had a ONS with Isla who remains his BFF. Rye interacts with Isla for a while before she finds out this bit of information which kinda blindsides her. She felt he should have shared that with her up front and I agree. It was the reason for their second separation. No other partners were mentioned during separations except for Rye being raped. They ended up happily married.
Holy shiitake mushrooms! This book! I was kindly given an ARC for an honest review and holy shit, shit is about to get real. Blended is so gritty and raw and realistic, I felt like I was actually a character in this story. Addiction is dangerous and seriously, its tough shit to overcome. But to use this kind of addiction and turn it into something beautiful but real at the same time. MAGIC.
Waylon is absolutely everything I want in a book boyfriend; loving, possessive, needy and sometimes and asshole but an asshole that will do anything to protect the woman he loves. Hadley, I was kinda pissed at her at the beginning, but she gradually got better. She handled her shit and though she was always running or doing shit that made me want to slap the crap outta her, she was learning. They both were. And it was beautiful, to see these two come together and be the strength they each didn't know they needed. I love this book.
And helloooo! The whiskey in this book had me craving from beginning to end. And how adorable were their nicknames for each other? I LOVED IT! I secretly sighed every time Wade called her Rye. Overall, this book was just too damn HOT. The sexual tension build up drove me absolutely crazy! I devoured this book in literally one sitting and I can't get enough. Amazing job, Sasha! You are officially one of my new absolutely-got-to-one-click authors.
Coming out September 19th, preorder, one click, buy etc WHATEVER! JUST GET A HOLD OF A COPY OF THIS BOOK! You won't regret it!
Blended started out pretty hard-hitting. I confess, it wasn't what I was expecting. BUT! That's not a bad thing, and certain characters who at first seem off-putting and unredeemable are explained. I grew to care about them and want them to find happiness.
So essentially, the story has lovely layers--like the whiskey Brummer does such a brilliant job describing. I swear, I wanted to go out and have a Glenfiddich more than once while reading--LOL!
The romance is very hot. At times, I wanted to shake Hadley for her childish behavior, but I liked how Wade knew her game from the start. I liked the shared affliction angle. It worked.
Great writing, lovely descriptions, and emotional layers. A solid debut!
Ok, I finished this book earlier today, and I think I figured out what I want to say about it. When I started this book, I didn't understand the disease Hadley and Wade were dealing with, and sometimes got frustrated with how Hadley handled things. I mean, she was so detached discussing the trauma she went through when she was younger, and it was shocking. Seeing what it did to her future was heartbreaking. I felt for these characters, through all their trials and pain. And watching what they went through, both together and separate, brought out several emotions: Fear. Longing. Sadness. Hope. Love. This book just blew me away!!! Amazing job!!
5 Amazing stars going out to Blended. I was totally enthralled by the characters and their amazing story. Prepare for your heart to be stolen, melted, stomped on, mended, torn to shreds, and put back together again throughout the journey the characters take to find and save themselves through their love and helping each other deal with their addiction. I received an ARC of this book to review on behalf of “2 Girls Who Love Books” blog.
Blended is a story of redemption and the debut sole-written novel by Sasha Brümmer. It is the first novel in a Series of standalones that will include recurring characters. Thus, I think we may get more of Whiskey and Rye in the future – YEAH! I believe I have found a new author to follow as she has written a beautiful love story that captivated my heart.
Waylon ‘Whiskey’ Brass is our billionaire hero and Chicago’s most eligible bachelor. When he meets Hadley Rye in a comical position in a casino elevator, something different strikes his soul, something that makes him consider breaking a few of his own rules. Even though they have both sworn off love and relationships, fate throws her hand into the ring to bring them together again and give them the opportunity to experience a different kind of love and to heal each other. Their journey takes them through some tragic circumstances and serious soul-searching to make their relationship work. Their trust in each other is tested at every corner and they both need to overcome their pride and stubbornness to see the possibilities lying in each other.
This is not just a simple billionaire fairy-tale romance. These characters have a past that requires a great deal of courage to survive. Not only do they have past demons to slay but also have future trials to overcome as well. Sasha does an excellent job of developing her characters and giving us the insight into how their current selves evolved. Nothing is boring here and just when you think they’ve got it made, in comes another wrench of misunderstanding. The secondary characters are also quite charming and have gritty personalities, especially Isla. They will make you wonder their true intentions at times and make you laugh and cringe at others. They keep our main characters on their toes and don’t allow them to wallow in their whiskey for too long. Isla’s no holds barred attitude and quick mouth will have you smirking and loving her in no time. She is the perfect person to keep Brass in line and their friendship is unique.
This story has stayed in my head for days. It has some amazing twists and surprises as well as shockers and was an absolute joy to read. Seldom do I have the yearning to re-read a book but this one has made the list. It was stunning, devastating, and breathtakingly beautiful. The writing was visceral, raw and emotional making for an amazing romance. It had my heart beating faster with every page turn. It took me to another world where I was totally immersed and never wanted to surface. I would say this story ravished my heart. Of course there are some super amazing and seriously hot, sexy scenes that will undoubtedly leave you clenching your thighs together yearning for more a time or two. Mr. Brass resolve when it comes to denying poor Hadley what she needs until she is ready for it is quite commendable. It totally works for this story and when Hadley is finally ready to receive what she needs, it is the perfect moment but still had me giggling at Mr. Brass’ dilemma.
My emotions were all over the place during this read. From tears to sobs, gasps to unbelief. Sasha has put it all out there for us to immerse ourselves in. Trying to show the world just how much I enjoyed these characters and their story in the form of a review is proving to be a challenge. I just absolutely loved the characters so much. Sasha had me feeling like I was a part of this story, as if I would be wrapped up in Waylon’s arms at any moment listening to him whisper “I’ve got you” softly in my ear. Everything they go through to be together is absolutely tragic and beautiful. Their HEA is not easily won but they figure it out. Of course it helps that they get to go through it in the lap of luxury but never the less, they do have struggles, the likes of which not many of us will deal with in a life time.
Every woman dreams of a man like Waylon Brass to come along and sweep them off their feet, to protect them from the evils of the world. He is so very good at sweeping Hadley off her feet but ensuring she stays grounded and focused. I hope you give this new author a chance and order Blended today. Prepare to be awestruck!
*I received a copy of this book from Give Me Books Promotions in exchange for an honest review*
Thank you so very much Give Me Books Promotions for sending me a copy of Blended!! I am extremely honored and grateful!! :)
4 Take me to the Whiskey Library Stars!!
This was my first time reading Ms.Brümmer's work and I really enjoyed it! I liked the fact that it focused on serious subjects and how our minds can be scary places at times especially when it comes to memories of the past. It was heartbreaking, steamy, frustrating at times, and engrossing. Blended is about two people who didn't do relationships and how love threatens to knock them both on their butts. The way the characters weren't perfect but rather human and relatable on many levels made it easy to connect with them. Hadley and Wade's story took me by surprise in a great way. Ms.Brümmer created a story that was raw and shows how we shouldn't judge others. I look forward to picking up more of her work! :)
Hadley Rye was a character that battled her demons on daily basis. Her past was always messing with her present. She didn't care what others thought of her even though their words cut deep at times. When she goes to a whiskey library she never expects to bump into a familiar face. I liked how she was brazen. I hated what she went through on the inside though. At times I wanted to shake some sense into her for her actions. I hoped in the end she would be able to overcome her obstacles and let love in.
Wade Brass was a character who owned the company Global Brass. He took great pride in his job and in helping others. His Rules meant a lot to him and he never thought to break them until now. Bumping into the woman who gave him a memorable token for a second time changed everything. He had some secrets of his own. I liked the fact that he didn't want to be forgettable. I found him to be quite sexy and intense at certain points. I loved his humor too. I hoped in the end he'd take a risk on love.
I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a read that will make you sit back and think. It may make you want to talk to your Kindle to get through to the characters as well (My emotions can't be stopped haha). Blended showed the war going on within so many of us and learning how to breathe again. I really adore the cover and I totally picture the cover model as Hadley. I sure do hope that there's more redemption books especially one about Isla!! If you haven't already One-Clicked Buy it today!! 4 Stars all around!! :)
Damn it… This book should come with a warning. "Caution: Book will suck you in without your knowledge or consent. And burn your dinner."
REVIEW: 4.75 STARS Wow. Where do I start? In the beginning I wasn’t too sure what I was in for because I read this with no background or synopsis. Before I knew it, I was so immersed in the story that I forgot to cook dinner. I caught myself driving and thinking about this book. The story stuck with me because it was different. It wasn’t all hearts and flowers or good girl, bad boy.
Rye At the start, I wasn’t overly fond of Hadley. She was brash, forward and clearly disrespectful of herself and her body, but as the story unfolded, I fell in love with her. I loved watching her soften, blossom and grow. Despite her evolution, she still kept that fire or as Wade preferred to call it, balls.
Whiskey Wade was a character in and of himself. I was enthralled with him from the get-go. He was charismatic, sexy, wealthy and patient. I loved that he never gave in or back down from his vow. His devotion was charming and adorable. They have a beautiful tale, but that’s not to say they don’t hit some turbulence along their journey.
Sasha has a way with words, they captivate and transform you into another world. Some authors tell a story with their words or paint a picture, but Sasha hands you the Sistine Chapel and the keys to explore it first-hand. I found myself wanting to acquire a taste for whiskey. Sasha made the liquor its own sexy, sensual character with great appeal and desire.
Holy wow, this is definitely going on my all time fav's. It had all the feels and I loved every single character. My heart feels full now that I've reached the end <3
PS, Sasha... please make this a series. Thanksbye. :)
I loved this book!! I will say it took me a while but it was worth it! This was heartbreaking and emotional. Unconditional love and HEA at its finest. Hadley and Wade went through so much before and during their relationship. Wade realizes after talking to Hadley and observing her interactions with himself and other men that she doesnt value herself and clearly has an addiction. In their case it took one to know one as Wade has experienced his share of a sex addiction. These two were made for each other. Their love story had alot of drama and bumps, I was totally up for the ride.I love that they saved each other from themselves at the moments they needed it!! Awesome book, I'm sorry I waited so long to read it!
4.5 stars Interesting and at times frustrating story of two broken people finding each other. I really had a hard time putting it down ad pretty much read it straight through.
What a book of emotions, ups and down, love and hate and trying to find yourself.
Rye and Whiskey otherwise known as Hadley and Wade were such amazing characters in there own right but together they were explosive and not always in the best way. These two fed off each other in every emotion both phycial and mentally and that made them so much stronger.
Living with an addiciton wouldn't be easy, living with a sex addicion would be hard (pun intended) but when you find that one person that you crave and that can read you like a book and doesnt crave to your desire, can you thrown it all away for 5mins of pleasure? When tradgedy strikes and limites are tested we get to see so much more to the dynamic duo.
Though Rye craved sex her strong willed personality was deep and touching. Whiskey though an alpha male has just skyrocketed to the top in book boyfriends. This man is outstanding inside and out
Wow! This book is just so...I'm not sure I even have words.
Briefly, Sydney has issues. Major emotional issues stemming from a bad childhood. Wade also has childhood issues, but he has learned to deal with his in a much more constructive way. They have a chance meeting in Vegas on an elevator that makes an impression on both of them. Then another brief encounter later that evening. Then they don't see each other again for a while and reconnect by chance. What happens after is a beautiful story of recovery and trust.
This is the sexiest story I have ever read that didn't involve actual sex in the first 1/3-1/2 of the book. This is like the perfect slow burn, much like the whiskey the characters drink. Wade is so controlled and everything he does is careful and measured, except with Sydney. Sydney is the complete opposite and has a very difficult time trusting anyone, but she mostly trusts Wade. This is a slowly developing story and is not without some major twists, but it is absolutely fantastic and I highly recommend it to any romance fan.
There are triggers in this book, so be aware of that.
A story of addiction, hope and recovery that will stay with you long after you finish.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I was given the opportunity to early read Blended. I have to say that I kinda love Hadley and Wade. Hadley was a little rough around the edges in the beginning but she really grew on me. And Wade, well it's hard not to love him. I enjoyed the story arc. I really loved the whiskey theme that flowed throughout. Sure this was one of his businesses but their love for the liquor was common ground between the two characters. We come to find out that's not the only thing they have in common. They also battle some of the same demons. What I loved about this story is that while Hadley was in the midst of her battle Wade had waged war with his and had made it to the other side. So instead of enabling Hadley he knew how to handle her. What she needed from him in order to move on from what was holding her back. Their story isn't without conflict but that those instances were reconciled with relative quickness helped me with the cut and run scenarios that often turn me off. Overall I really enjoyed this story. I look forward to more from this author.
I thought I would enjoy this book after reading the blurb, so I'm delighted I enjoyed it even more than I expected. I was hooked from the first page, and by the third chapter I felt I knew the characters well.
Wade and Hadley make a stunning couple and everyone knows this except Hadley. Growing up with a troubled past and addictions she can't break, she convinces herself that she's no good for the likes of Wade Brass - CEO of Blended, and owner of half of Chicago. This is a man that knows what he wants, and he wants Hadley!
This is an excellent story with love, sex, laughter, sadness and so much more. I am not a whiskey lover but I'll be honest with the authors knowledge of it, it has made me curious and I may well just have to sample some! A very easy read and the author knows exactly how to engage her readers from the start. I would definitely recommend this book!
Beautiful story about two people who struggle with addiction.
Hadley lost her mother to suicide when she was young, she was thrust into the foster care system where she was abused. The only good thing that came out of it was her best friend Lola.
Wade fought his addiction, got help but he occasionally gives into it, though never in Chicago, only in Vegas and that's where he meets Hadley and he's instantly attracted to her. When she shows up in Chicago at his Whiskey Club, she's just as attracted to him as he is to her, but can she get past her insecurities and let him in? Can he help her recover from her past? He sees it in her, the fight to become a better person!
This was a great book, I loved the characters, not only the main ones but all of them!5 + stars for this one, pick up your copy today!
Oh, Whiskey and Rye... An unconventional love story with many twists and turns that needs to be read. Hadley had a rough upbringing that led to her shutting people out and to an addiction to sex. She meets the one man she can't shut out in Wade, but he wants to break her before giving into their primal needs. As I said earlier, this is not your typical love story, it is so much more. There is tons of sexual tension, lots of push and pull but through it all there is an undeniable pull between 2 broken souls who only need each other. I can't wait to get more from Ms. Brummer, and experience more from this set of characters. I absolutely loved this story and a week later am still suffering a book hangover.
i was giving this ARC for an honest review. I did enjoy the book and when i started i didn't understand the disease that Hadley and Wade both were dealing with. with that being said i think it was well written i got frustrated with how Hadley handled things. I mean, she was so detached discussing the trauma she went through when she was younger, and it was shocking. Seeing what it did to her future was heartbreaking. I felt for these characters, through all their trials and pain. And watching what they went through, both together and separate, brought out several emotions: Fear. Longing. Sadness. Hope. Love.
I ended up enjoying this story. It started off a bit slowly for me, with a bit of a cliche fate type of meeting, but it picked up pretty quickly after the initial meetings and introductions to each character.
Hadley and Wade were both extremely flawed characters, but it was nice watching them heal each other. They were there for each other and fell in love with one another despite their flaws.
The side characters were really great. My favorites being Liam and Isla. They both said whatever they wanted whenever they wanted and it was pretty great.
A deep read with a bit of naughty, lots of dirty talk, and a sweet love story!
Wow. Sure is fucked up. Which is totally my jam. Add to the fact that the heroine is totally chill, add a few trauma, men, and, her main bitches, and hateful ho's, we've got the perfect blended mix of a wondrous disaster.
This was an exceptional read for me. The issues of childhood trauma and sexual addiction is rarely treated in novels of this genre. This was more than sexy erotica, it was a romance built on compassion on the part of the male lover Wade. Looks like I'll end up reading the second of this series.
