There’s a new wicked witch in Oz—and her name is Dorothy. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz meets Kill Bill in this edgy, fast-paced, fantasy-adventure series from New York Times bestselling author Danielle Paige. This collection includes all three novels in the series, including the hotly anticipated Yellow Brick War!
Dorothy Must Die: Oz has turned into a savage dystopia under Dorothy’s rule—and now a new girl from Kansas must take her down. Amy Gunn been recruited by the Revolutionary Order of the Wicked. Her mission: Remove the Tin Woodman's heart. Steal the Scarecrow's brain. Take the Lion's courage. And—Dorothy must die.
The Wicked Will Rise: With the Revolutionary Order of the Wicked scattered across Oz, Amy Gumm is on her own in the twisted fairyland. As she searches the kingdom in the hopes of destroying Dorothy once and for all, Amy realizes that nothing is what it seems in Oz and everyone has their own agenda.
Yellow Brick War: Amy Gumm’s mission to take down Dorothy Gale is not going according to plan. Dorothy has found a way to bridge the worlds of Oz and Kansas, and Amy finds herself back where it all began: Dusty Acres Trailer Park. If Dorothy has her way, Kansas will be destroyed forever.
Dorthy must die will leave you feeling like I hope this book dies. Slow, boring, poorly written (almost childish) and no conclusion. I’ve never left a review on Goodreads before… this book made me feel that passionate to warn other readers. It’s not a clever twist on the wizard of Oz. It’s not dark. It’s garbage.
it was a very interesting twist to the normal story of the wizard of oz. There are many little twists that you don't see coming which keeps you on the edge of your seat. It also shows how ones status could slowly start to change the way they act.I really recommend this book series for anyone who likes a fantasy book that will keep you wanting more.
I loved the book Dorothy Must Die but I just read the first book. It was about how this girl named Amy appeared to the world of wizard of oz. (Just to let you know I have never seen the wizard of Oz). Anyway then it was not like the movies said Amy that it was all messed up then she met indigo someone that helped her know what was going on. According to her Dorothy had happened. Dorothy had gotten some magic and was then obsessed with it and wanted it all the magic and started to rule over and make everything awful. The only way Amy thought of helping was to kill dorothy. but how could she do that Dorothy had magic on her side. When the wizard showed up and told her what she needed to defeat Dorothy was. the tin man's heart. The lion's courage and the scarecrow's brain. Amy then goes on a journey to kill dorothy. in the end she cuts Dorothy's throat and steals the tin man's heart. Although she wasn't able to kill Dorothy in the end, she will. To me it seems I have just found my new favorite book. It is one of the most intriguing books I have read in my life and would love to read the series.

Dorthy Must Die Book One The protagonist, Amy, is a bit annoying only because I find her kind of snarky. The story being told from a first person point of view makes Amy's snarkiness a bit hard to bear at times, but that's how she was written. Her character is very self-aware on this note as she often enough mentions how her mouth gets her into trouble. The story being written in the first person saves this character from being misunderstood by readers as what she says and does are very confrontational in response to how she has interpreted a situation. I think without the constant inner monologue she'd probably come off very badly and unrelatable. Danielle Paige is well deserving of any accolades she gets as a writer; first person story telling is not an easy thing to pull off and she has done so excellently. Even so the story isn't something that makes me excited to keep reading but it grabbed my attention well enough. Amy is not a female protagonist that just has the story happen to her but is very much an active, fleshed out, and developing character. There are the obligatory "you are special/beautiful/powerful" lines dropped that by law must be used in all YA novels of this nature. Another trope present is any female character wearing lots of pink and is over the top girly or popular must be a total tool. Although those kind of devices have been used to death they kind of work in this story, kind of. While I could over look those things what I couldn't overlook was the obvious dragging out of the plot that made me want to throw my phone through a window. Even so I wouldn't be mad to read the rest of the trilogy.
I only read like the first couple of chapters of the first book, and those were interesting but, after that it was like....weird....it wasn't as interesting anymore so I never read the whole book.
I read Dorthy Must Die. I enjoyed this book where the main character of this story gets abducted into Oz with the responsibility to save its magic in the end getting some of her own. And trying to patch up and fix the things Dorthy has done to take its magic and take it out of harm's way. I was surprised by this story because when they first mentioned Oz I thought of it as a fairy tale full of magic and etc. But when I found out that it was dry and unhappy almost it made sense to me when it mentioned that Dorthy was magic mining for her own selfish needs because she already has magic but she wants more. I was interested when they mentioned the former ruler that was good that would change time on time. And treated people equally, and ect so everyone liked her. I was surprised when it only showed holograms of her at first and I was interested when we actually saw her with another person but I was confused for a bit about why would she let Dorthy do this and what had happened to her. I was sad when it mentioned the winged monkeys and how Dorthy would make them their slaves almost and how the monkey that Dorthy and her friend met along the way was one of them but all beaten up and cut off his wings so he can escape with the others but he couldn't because he didn't want to leave his family who found their wings is what made them special. And how they were heading to the main city to find someone who could bring Dorthy home. In the end, I rate this book a 5/5.

Dorthy Must Die is a great book that includes wonderful characters. My favorite is the main character Amy. Every step of her journey she needs to make a decision and which leaves the viewers on the edge of their seat to see what will happen in response. She always does what makes sense to her even if she doesn't want to do it. All of the witches have great character traits too. I think that the one they all share is their wisdom. My next, favorite character is Dorthy. I love how her character traits are the opposite of how the real story goes. It makes the story come together. To conclude, the wonderful book Dorthy Must Die has great character traits.
In this twisted take on the Wizard of Oz, a self-proclaimed “trailer trash” young girl hitches a ride on the tornado express straight to Oz, where nothing is rainbows and puppies. Dorothy has gone mad, teamed up with Glinda, and turned Oz into a weird prison camp. This book didn’t shy away from gore or taking our beloved Lion, Scarecrow, and Tin Man to new horrifying levels. Overall, this was a fun read. I enjoyed it.
Duck scale: 7/10 rubber duckies -1 talking animals -1 Too Short -1 More World Building
I am a sucker for a new spin on an old classic. The revamped storyline that we thought we knew comes alive in non-stop action and suspense. The heroine is realistic and likable, your "Every Woman" character is so relatable and yet struggling to find herself, as most of us are, gives a wonderful second storyline/plot. I I almost gave this a four as the last book ends in a cliffhanger! But overall I could not wait to see what happened next. I hope the author wrote a conclusion in another book!
I read the entire first book in this trilogy and stopped. I have an obsession with finishing series so I have to really dislike a character, think the writing of poor, or be put of by vulgarity to stop reading. This new character is so entitled it just put me off. I read book one and stopped. I just kept visualizing her flicking her hair and doing a supermodel strut but looking normal with a snarky little mouth. Not my type of character!
Great concept, fun and has several adventures that are exciting. But this series was just boring in the end. I struggled to get through it, found it hard to stay connected to the story and the characters. So intensely descriptive that I lost interest in the world being created on each page. Again, the concept is fun, it’s edgy, and feisty… but so many words to say the same thing or describe things. Not my favorite.
It's been a while since I read this series, but I felt inclined to reread the series after watching the Wicked movie and rereading the Wicked book. I truly felt that my love for this series held strong and I felt the same way I did when I read them for the first time. To me that is truly the testament of a good book as I believe I was in 7th or 8th grade when I first read the books and I'm 22 years old now.
Dorthy Must Die changes your whole look on the Wizard of Oz. It makes you wonder how things could have been if Dorthy was insane with power. By the 3rd book the series slows down a bit, they’re still a good read but the beginning spark of wonder loses its flame. This would be a book I would recommend to younger adults or early teens.
I red just the first of the three books - "Dorthy must die". It was a nicely written narrative. The plot was mildly complex but interesting enough to keep my attention. It is an interesting twist on what could have happened if Dorthy returned to OZ. I probably will not read the other two books, but I would recommend it as a leisurely read for fans of the original story.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I feel like it was the perfect take on a dark version of the Wizard of Oz. Nothing is as you know it, and there are plot twists around every corner to keep you invested to the very end. I stayed up all night and read this book in one sitting, so I would say that it is very good.
So to be honest I could have done without the second and third book. (If the first book would have had a more conclusive). But I swear I cant with her not killing Dorothy. She KNOWS she needs to… gets so close… then just doesn’t. I didn’t care for the third book as much. But I’m dedicated now so here is to hoping the 4th book is better 🥂
Ok so you gotta know this series is good because I NEVER read the sequels to a book, but I did for this series. I just couldn't put these books down, and I'm not even a huge Wizard Of Oz fan. I would reccomend these books to just about anyone.
My younger sister was interested in these books, so I bought them to see what the hype was about them. I love the twists on the original Wizard of Oz story. It wasn't so similar that I got confused on some of the points, and it was well written. Some language.
I couldn't put this down, these books were such page turners. I felt as though i had been sucked back into Oz, except with the depth of characters we encounter in real life. I recommend these to anyone who us a fan of the yellow brick road.
I have read the first book in the series it was GREAT !!!! It takes a different approach on the classic story The Wizard of Oz it is a very teen appropriate book that left me on edge and made me want to keep reading and reading.I can not wait to read the rest of the series.
These are the best books I have ever read. I love Nox and Amy and the bond that they share. The plot is so detailed and the story is amazing. I love everything about these books. The end of the last book left me wondering what would happen next and I am dying for another book.

I enjoyed reading thia series. Just imaging sweet little Dorothy from Kansas as an evil villianwhat a great premise. My only critique is that a couple of the characters were too over the top bordering on cheesy, but still worth the read.
I read through this series very quickly! It is easy to read, a great read for teens, but even as an adult it was fun to be in OZ again, but with a twist. These books introduce you to knew characters and adventures and give a new perspective on Glinda and Dorthy and how magic and power can corrupt.
This Series was amazing! I loved the characters and, it was pretty clean for the most part. (Except for the violence which doesn't bother me to much.) I would highly recommend anyone who loves a good hilarious fantasy read.
The illustrative style of writting in this book is so good that I actually have gotten nauseous at some of the descriptions! Such a great book. Amy's character can be a bit annoying but it's a high school teenage girl.....what do you expect
