Rate this book
Films are made in their preparation, and this book is the missing manual. Step by step, it will take you through the entire pre-production process, starting out by defining what the director is actually there to do - some of you will be surprised! It will go on to explain
How to read a script * How to shape your 'vision' * How to work out your shots and your visual style * How to communicate this to your crew * How to select your crew * How to cast your actors
And everything else you need to do before you're ready to shout 'Action!'

This nifty little book takes you on a guided tour, through the hurdles of directing a film - from the earliest preparations up until you are finally ready to shout action.

As a rookie, who never directed more than a few friends, I found this book easy to read and filled with wisdom and easy to follow steps and guidelines.

Definitely a must read for anyone embarking on the path to become a director.
