I found this on Amazon as a freebie so I honestly wasn't expecting a whole lot. The Amazon freebies are not always a solid choice and feature a few shit sandwiches especially when it comes to horror.
I've been pleased with my horror choices as of late and I figured if this one sucked it didn't actually cost me anything and the writer John Moralee got his book reviewed. It's a win for almost everyone. Except you of course.
The thing is that Bloodways is quite an interesting collection. There's no doubt that Moralee has a sense of humor and talent. While the title may be Bloodways this isn't gory at all. I really can't even call it a straight up horror collection because there's a lot going on here and each story is pretty damn good.
As a collection it's not bad and I enjoyed this a great deal. I'm curious to see what else he comes up with even if he does poke a bit of fun of us splatterpunk authors, but instead of being all butt hurt I found myself giggling. This was a quick read but one that you should check out.
