Of Jeebies and Journeys by P.S. Winn is another of the author’s signature stories in which she sits us down by the fireplace of a rustic country home and spins a tale of mystery, magic and contemplation. In this case we make the acquaintance of a septuagenarian named Jed Pearson, at the end of the road of his life with his old dog Toby. He is still mourning the loss of his wife Ellie five years ago. Only a pile of dead squirrels becomes a harbinger of dark secrets ahead, and he soon learns of a supernatural legend that helps him reconnect with the souls of his dearly departed. This includes not only Ellie but his grandsons Wes and Jared. He finds they have been separated by a mysterious force known as the Jeebies, and once he sets out on their trail it takes him to the threshold of a new dimension he never dreamed existed.

Winn’s tale is a heartwarming romp along the realms of reincarnation, family reunions and transcendence. The Jeebies give it the aura of menace that keeps the reader turning the page as we seek out the Garden of Shadows ahead. The Council of Twelve provide the protagonists the glimmer of hope they need. We cheer on the Pearsons as they deal with the loss of life and death of memories, finding the Life Plans they need to overcome the Jeebies and make everything all right.

Like most of this author’s tales, this is for audiences of all ages and guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Of Jeebies and Journeys by P.S. Winn is one you won’t want to miss.

The book’s title had me wondering if this would be a frightening story, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it’s not only a poignant love story, but one that moved me a great deal. The story does begin with a dark, suspenseful tone as 72-year-old Jed realizes that an old supernatural menace called the Jeebies, has returned. These dark shadows steal memories from people who are close to death. Such was the case with Jed’s wife Ellie five years earlier, and now he believes they’re coming for him.

The book’s theme beautifully reflects the pain and anguish of those who must watch loved ones lose their memories. The author takes things a step further by exploring the idea of how far a loved one might go to restore them, if given an extraordinary opportunity. Despite the fantastical elements, Jed’s story of sorrow and hope is one many of can relate to in our own way. I certainly did.

Such an interesting story. Such an interesting set of notions to use in writing about death and afterlife. I found this story very entertaining and very original in many ways. I don't think I have ever considered "paradise" to be a place where people lived in the fashion described in this tale. The jeebies are a frightening concept indeed. I am glad I have never encountered them in my past and hope never to do so in my future. P.S. Winn always spins a tale so filled with friendliness to the reader. She makes the exercise in reading her books pleasant, easy, but not without challenge. She has a wonderful sense of humor that shows through so clearly in her stories, in jeebies and journeys just as it has in the others of her books which I have already read. I cannot criticize anything about this story and will not. Thanks Pamela. You have done it again.

Although at first this book sounds like a romance, but it is a lot more than that. Readers are introduced to Jed, a man with a problem that began many years ago. At 8, Jed first learned about the Jeebies, evil spirits who steal something precious from humans and it seems animals. When Jed's wife of 45 years dies, after the Jeebies have gotten to her, Jed made a death bed promise. He would some day not only find his wife, his beloved Ellie Girl, but also find a way to restore what was taken from her. When Jed dies, five years after Ellie, he finds himself on amazing journey to the other side to first look for his Ellie Girl and then to find what was stolen. If you like supernatural thrillers with a touch of romance, grab this book and join Jed on his amazing journey to the unknown.

Everyone needs to read this story!
The Jeebies in the title are dark or bad spirits. This is not a horror story. Like a murder mystery there has to be a murder for there to be a mystery. The Jeebies are the cause of the rest of this story and hardly make any appearances. P.S. Winn has an amazing knack for establishing and investigating this mystery. I would even call this story an unusual example of historical fiction. I will not reveal much of the rest of the story but just want to alert readers that there is an enormous amount of true information shared by P.S. Winn in this fictional masterpiece. Keep that in mind as you read Part 2.

Ok, wow. Just holy crap, I was not expecting Of Jeebies and Journeys to be this amazing and I am not disappointed at all to have read it!
The author did such an amazing job with descriptions and keeping the story from going flat and boring.
I love the supernatural aspect to it as well and P.S. Winn's take on what the question some of us ask ourselves "what really happens when you die"?
The only two things I disliked about this story was that I wish it had gotten into the Jeebies more and I wish the story was longer.
