Jupiter Winds #2

Jupiter Storm

Rate this book
Only a week ago Grey Alexander thought she and her sister were orphans. And like everyone else she believed Jupiter was uninhabitable. Now she’s standing on its surface, reunited with her mom and dad and on the brink of an interplanetary war. The government of Mazdaar is ruthlessly determined to claim Jupiter like they already have Earth, but Grey has joined her parents and Commander Fleur March in the Yien Dynasty’s resistance effort. Jupiter, where extinct animals roam free and seem to have an uncanny ability to communicate with her sister, is the last hope for the freedom of mankind.

When Mazdaar unexpectedly descends with a fleet of their terrifying Triangle jets, Grey and her family barely escape with their lives. Cut off from reinforcements and traveling in a ship full of strangers, who can they trust? Surely not Dana Yurkutz, the traitorous prisoner who even though she inexplicably saved Grey’s life is still loyal to Mazdaar.

Deception is their enemy’s most powerful weapon, and light and darkness soon blur on this new frontier. Nothing is as it first seems, and Grey and Dana must each choose sides before it’s too late.

Wow. Just wow. I didn’t know what to expect with a sequel to the great “Jupiter Winds”, but “Jupiter Storm” met and surpassed my expectations as a sequel. While I still feel like #1 was more emotional and edge-of-my-seat-exciting, this sequel sure gave it a run for its money! C.J. Darlington wrote the best follow-up book I have ever read and, of course, I would love to see this two-book-series be made into a trilogy. Or a series of four books. Or more. I wouldn’t complain. At all. ;)

{And for those who don’t follow BFCG on Instagram (@lindseyfrombfcg), this was the post & caption I posted when I received this book. Highly excited? Oh, yes.

What a GREAT sequel!! There was a question posted on facebook whether this series is good for teens or adults and I have to say, it's good for BOTH age groups :) Even though this story is MOSTLY about Grey and her younger sister Rin finding their parents and surviving injustices given out from Mazdaar, every character in this story has a purpose and the writing is incredible.

I totally fell in love with Jupiter Winds, so much so that I read it again before reading the sequel and loved it all over again, and Jupiter Storm was a MUST read for me! It picks off right where book 1 leaves off and DOES NOT LET YOU GO until the last page. I love the Alexander family, Mrs. March and even though I don't know him well, Jet Lien is also great :) Even the villains in this story are incredible to the plot and make the action non stop!! I thought after General Evangeline Yurkutz was killed in Winds that things would calm down a little.....so not happening that way.

Mom straightened and faced her. She wiped at her eyes with her sleeve. "When we get through this mission, I want you to know things are going to change."
"Mom, I'm okay."
"We're going to be real family again."
"I thought that's what we were now."

Corporal Lennox and the Schumans, I didn't like any of you but it was unfortunate what happened.

In this story, Mrs. March and the Alexanders must flee to a rendezvous to escape imminent war with Mazdaar reinforcements attempting to take over Jupiter. I WAS NOT expecting the story to go in this direction, but the writing is brilliant and more secrets are revealed. Trim and Traf are still with Rin and I'm truly amazed at the young woman she is becoming. She had such a small role in Winds, but in Storm she is required to be more courageous, she becomes the unofficial nurse whenever someone gets hurt, and she develops an odd talent communicating with the zorses. I'm VERY interested to see how THAT develops!

In Jupiter Storm, Grey is able to make sense of the five years she had to survive without her parents and she vows her allegiance to Mrs. March, who helped raise her and looked out for her all this time. Grey is also able to heal emotionally after all the torture she went through in Winds. Mrs. March puts everyone before her own safety and I was touched more than once at her strength in this story, especially at her age. She's just amazing from start to finish and one of my fave characters.

Dana Yurkutz also has an incredible journey in Storm and she has to ask herself many difficult questions in this one. Is she really like her mother or is she capable of being so much more? Which side will she choose, The Yiens or Mazdaar? And this story also reveals secrets to her that truly make her consider which side she really belongs to. I was rooting for her redemption in Storm and just when I felt certain the plot for her was doomed, I was pleasantly surprised :)

Also Jupiter itself is a VERY important entity in this sequel....more crazy winds, more extinct GIGANTIC predators, more drones and we get to witness some crazy flying maneuvers!! I've never seen a distant planet come to life as Jupiter does and I simply can't get enough of it :)

I cheered, I cried a little, and was simply amazed at how resilient the Alexander family is when they continue to fight for one another. EVERYTHING I hoped for in a worthy sequel (and more) was tended to in Jupiter Storm, starting from the amazing cover, and it's easiest one of the best books ever done! Highly recommended, written with LOTS of heart and faith, a family you're rooting for the entire time, and two brave sisters who find strength within themselves they never thought was possible.....loved it and want more!!

This book flew by. It is one of the most fast-paced stories I have read. I enjoyed reading more about these characters, especially Dana’s point of view (claps because of that ending). I would have liked more faith content, but at least God is mentioned, instead of not being mentioned at all. There was some negative content. Adultery is mentioned in this book and even though it isn’t looked at as something good, I still would have rather not have read it. I also really disliked when it stated that characters cursed. No cuss words were actually written, but it did mention characters cussing.

Like I stated in my review for the first book, I had a hard time reading the Jupiter setting. However, in this book it did become easier to read. Overall, this book was another adventurous, fast-paced read. I would have loved more faith content and could have done without the negative content. This book did keep me on my toes and I am looking forward to reading more about these characters in the next book.

This one had a lot more political intrigue than sci fi action, but I still enjoyed it.

I liked Dana as a character - and Rin and Grey have such a cute relationship.

The world of Jupiter was interesting to imagine and I liked all the weird animals native to the planet. I would have to say I enjoyed the first one more, but it was still good.

"The light shines in the darkness." Repeated a number of times throughout the book, the verse encourages us to have hope in desperate situations; to keep the faith no matter what. Because "the hand of God is everywhere, for all time." It's not verbatim, but I remember reading these words from the Bible...I have lived more than half a century so far; been through a lot, I should say; and I've seen and witnessed first hand the workings of God's hand, which clearly is the one who directed C.J. Darlington to write this book.

In this sequel, the Alexander family found themselves in a war that threatened the lives of their family and friends. Their courage and their faith were tested; trust in the people around them became an issue.

Before I read the Jupiter series, I couldn't imagine a futuristic, high-tech, Christian fiction. This one proves that the combination works. The saga should continue; so a third installment, please.

Maybe the Best Yet!

Of all C. J. Darlington's books, this may have been the best in my opinion! I really admire those with a true imagination, and Darlington's is thus one I greatly admire.

The lack of romance was such a plus for me because, let's face it: the number of any type of romance novels out there are prolific to be sure. Some ends from book one were tied up, so that was another plus for me. And, the language in Darlington's books are always clean, a fact that does not deter from her plots and descriptive language.

I am so anxious to read the third in this series- yes, C. J. Darlington's, I am clamoring for a trilogy - and I know it will be just as special as the first two.

So if you enjoy science fiction, give this series a try. If you have a YA in need of clean, non-werewof, non-vampire books, steer them to this series. Great work!

Oh my goodness, this book is amazing! When I heard that there was going to be a sequel to Jupiter Winds, I was a little worried that it would not match up to the first one. But I should not have been worried! This book was awesome!

I definitely enjoyed getting reacquainted with Grey and Rin, and it was great getting to hear Dana's side of the story. The writing style was good, and the plot was great! I am (hopefully) looking forward to a third book. *fingers crossed*

Yes, this is the second book in the Jupiter series, but I felt like it read as a stand-alone. Still love the main characters and the sisterhood they share. Their relationship matures as Grey is learning that Rin is growing up. This planet is one cool place. I love the unusual phenomena they experience!

An uncertain sister. An animal enthusiast. A paralyzed betrayer. A secretive woman. A missing husband. An unbeknownst spy. A conquered Earth. And an unconquered Jupiter. Grey and Rin are back in action. When a Madzarr war ship attacks Jupiter, everyone must flee. And with a planetary war brewing, distrust growing, and an untrustworthy prisoner on their hands, they are gonna have to do everything in their power to survive. Can Grey and Rin save everyone they love or will they lose everything? Will Dana choose light or darkness? And will Mazdarr conquer Jupiter or will the Yien Dynasty pull through this impossible war? Find out in this thrilling second book!

WOW! I loved this book! Me, being a big space nerd and a Sci-Fi fan, found this book to be the perfect read! The plot twists, secrets, and characters were just so much fun!

This book makes you question everyone’s loyalties! I even questioned the most loyal people! And then in the end! Boy, oh, boy!

There is no….
1. Romance
2. Foul Language
3. Unnecessary gore

There is…..
1. A mention of a man cheating on his wife
2. Killing (not detailed, nor gory)
3. Threats

To be honest, I wish there was more description in the end of the book which is why I didn’t give 5 stars. Overall, the book just needs a little more description and a little less of cramming events into the book. It’s just that A LOT happened in the few 300 pages which I usually love but there was just too much going on and not enough details. Like I wanted more of Jupiters landscape, creatures, and secrets rather than hearing about how Grey saved somebody once again. But I really loved this book.

This book was a clean, Christian, no romance, quick read. It’s a perfect short series for mature teens.

P.S. WHAT!? WHERE IS THE THIRD BOOK! YOU MADE THIS BOOK IN 2016 AND I AN READING IT IN 2025 AND THERE STILL ISNT A THIRD BOOK!!!!! WHERE IS IT!!!? PLEASE WRITE ITTT!!!!!! 🥺

Also, loved the Christian elements. The verses were my favorite.

I just LOVE this book for so many reason! ❤️ I love that there’s minimal/no romance and it focuses more on sibling/family bonds. And I love that there’s suspense on every page. Darlington’s writing just keeps you going and going; the plot is so engaging. One of the best Christian sci-fi books I’ve read. 👍
