I have only heard of Jillian Dodd, I am new to reading both of them, had to check Goodreads to be sure if I had read either of them, I have promoted Jillian before on my book blog. oops, my bad, that is a totally different Jillian .. who knew there were so many similar named authors out there. Ella's, Jillian's ... I have never met any of these in person, but yet in the author world it is just a common name. Who knew??! I love the show Covert Affairs, they ended that too quick in my humble opinion, Anne and her CSI life and trying to keep that private from her sister and other friends ...not sure how I found this book but I am so glad I did. What a great read. Thank you Amazon for recommending it too me. LOVED IT!! I love mysteries of all sorts ... add in some love/romance I am totally there. Great read, couldn't put it down. Just a quick read for me. Check it out!! ( :
Blurb: In this Special Limited Edition duet, you'll meet two bold young women, lives derailed by destiny, determined to find justice.
False Truth, by award winning NYT and USA Today Bestselling author Diane Capri, rookie TV reporter Jordan Fox gets only one chance to stop the killers who murdered her mother before they return to finish what they started.
Spy Girl, by USA Today Bestselling author Jillian Dodd, Huntley Bond is removed from Spy Academy and tasked with her first mission: protect the Prince of a sovereign country and hone her spy craft skills to exact revenge on her mother's assassin.
This clever, fast-paced and very exciting novel is written in the form of four novellas, False Truth nos 1-4, all linked through main protagonist Jordan and the other well-developed and engaging characters into a seamless whole. I enjoyed it so much that I read it in one go without a break...a definite winner for the multi-talented Diane Capri, exceptional creator of this series and others, [including The Hunt for Jack Reacher series].
Ted Garfield is murdered - decapitated and further mutilated by villain Chester Flynn; his body later turns up at a celebrity event -dumped in a large fish tank inside a nightclub. Feisty Jordan Fox arrives as a News Channel 12 rookie reporter, only to run into Drew Hodges - a rival from her journalism college course who's also there as a 'cub', but with the advantage of a privileged minor celebrity background to help him up the corporate ladder. Feeling 'hard done by', Jordan is sent alone to report on the event...her only crumb of comfort is that her BFF Claire, is the guest of honor Cal's fiancee, which she hopes will give her the edge over Drew, in the promotion challenge. The hope turns to near-certainty when she's among the first to notice and photograph the corpse, before pandemonium ensues. What happens in the next chapters of this page-turning thriller will take your breath away and leave you transfixed right to the very end - I loved it and you will too!
I love this & I can't wait for more. I will be also leaving a review on Goodreads @ Amazon. And letting everyone know about it. So i gave it a 5 Stars.
This book has two stories False Truth by Diane Capri and Spy Girl by Jillian Dodd.
The first one one is about a rookie journalist who has joined journalism to track down her mother's killers is in competition with her male classmate to retain the job as the company is facing a fiscal crunch. While her male classmate has things going in his favour she has to struggle and fate keeps playing with her life. On hand it seems to be throwing up opportunities in her way and on the other it seems to be snatching it away from her.
How she copes up with these challenges and still succeeds is what the book is all about.
The second one is about a girl who has been trained by a super secret school within the US to be a master spy. On her first assignment she is sent to a country to protect the would be king. In the process she as a lot of support from others on the ground (most of who are males). She finds herself falling in love with the would be king and also one other high profile person.
How she and her assistants manage the show for the new "to be king" is what the book is all about.
This was a collection of stories, my reviews can be found under the single publicatons.
