As a content marketing specialist, the BIGGEST mistakes I see small business owners making is that they don't have any way that they connect their content to their business metrics — most specifically, sales. If you're spending time creating content and you don't know how it's moving your business forward, you're wasting your time. This book aims to be a roadmap to solve that problem and connect the dots between content and sales. For most small business owners, traffic is not the ultimate goal, more content is not the solution, and more effort is not necessarily going to increase sales! It's about working smarter, not harder, and doing less, better. The goal of this book is to give readers the confidence to put together their own content marketing strategy for their business that starts with a blog and ends with a sale. It's something any business owner can do provided she has the right knowledge and framework to put together a plan and then execute it! Become your own content marketing strategist and start connecting every piece of content ultimately to a sale. "Lacy Boggs is a genius when it comes to all things blogging. If you are ready to actually make money from your blogging efforts, listen to every word she says. Every. Single. Word." - Terra Bohlmann, business strategist, terrabohlmann.com
I took tons of notes as I read this book. The author humorously stated, "Spaghetti isn't a strategy." (See what sticks!) I found a lot of content worth mulling over. Instead of putting stuff out there as the mood strikes, I'm going to work on being more specific about who I'm writing to, what outcome I'm seeking, and how to meet the reader at their specific stage of customer awareness. This was very helpful and will shape my writing and blog strategy in the future.
I really loved this book. It is so well-written and easy to understand. It is also really good at getting you excited to take action which is the most important thing any piece of content can do. Thanks for helping me learn more about content marketing. My whole book is highlighted!!
Solid recommendations, actionable and clear. Includes helpful checklists and summaries to drive home main points. Great read if you are trying to understand how content marketing can help your business.
I liked the way Lacy approached content from the story angle. Her resources were helpful, too. I would recommend Lacy Boggs' book(s) as a must have for a resource library.
I have been reading on article writing to see if I can improve my skills in this area. So far, a lot of these books are filled with information I already know, but it would be perfect for a newbie.
Motivating and informative enough. I feel it was a good book, but not Wow! Life changing or anything. Glad I read it though. It did bring a business overview into the art
While I feel like this book could have gone deeper into a few areas, it was a good read if you’re looking to do better with your content marketing. You need to learn the launch plan in Chapter 3 and the questions/path to building a blockbuster in chapter 5 is another need to know.
This book is very good on what you need to do to blog effectively. I read it in about two and a half days, small chunks at a time... I will definitely read it again and take notes this time.
I found her writing to be erudite and interesting. She Incorporated practical examples from her own experiences as well as from her acquaintances. I also liked that she used literary and popular cultural references. I will keep this handy for reference.
