Welcome to Archana, a world different from Earth where some of the animals are sentient and can talk. There are dwarves, elves, unicorns, dragons, nd creatures brand new for this series. On Archana a good death is when one is hunted, killed, and eaten as food to nourish others. Everyone has magical abilities which are channeled through wands.

The worldbuilding is handled deftly and in an interesting manner that engages one in the character and plot development at the same time.

Beginnings and Ends

With one come the other. For every beginning comes an ending and like wise every ending offers a new beginning. Life is fragile whether fleeting or seeming never ending. One life intertwines with another and another. Weaving strands of emotions together to create a tapestry of life. Osric has to decide how he will weave the strands together and hope he is making the right decisions for everyone’s sake.

Perhaps 4.5 stars. This book was darker than the others and made me feel a little bleak. I have so many questions. What is happening with Aridis? How will the dragon situation resolve? Will Thenar relent? What about Vesh and Kane and the unicorns? Gus??? Judging by the rate of publication, I'll likely have to wait another year to find out!
