The book persistently refers the reader to a website for videos that no longer appears existent or relevant. Id prefer a little less time be spent on a fictional character and more effort on the actual techniques.
Well, this book was a useful starting point, once I'd waded through a lot of background information to get to the practical nitty-gritty of the construction and utilization of a mind palace, toward the end of this short work.
What really annoyed me was that the book was peppered with no fewer than 27 insistent hyperlinks to the author's web site, sherlock skills dot com, where I presume the real secrets of the mind palace actually reside.
In addition, the book should have been proofread before publication, in keeping with the impeccable nature of the mind required by such work.
The Art of Memory by Frances A. Yates reveals more in its first chapter, and is a much better, thoroughly researched and more rewarding read.
TL;DR Read only if you are a Sherlock Holmes fan and want to use a memory palace.
A quick primer on how to use a memory palace, aka Journey method, method of Loci. This is not enough detail to max out its usage, but only a brief introduction.
About half of this book is fluff about Sherlock Holmes and Arthur Conan Doyle, only interesting if you are a fan.
I still got some things out of this book, making around 6 Zettelkasten notes.
Hopefully, the tips will help. My time for memorizing 108 random numbers is stuck at ~30 minutes including recall.
Warning, there are 3 "Ron White" authors on Amazon and Goodreads, and they are not differentiated.
