A Fé de Abraão

Rate this book

"When a person has the nature of God, he understands that his life depends on supernatural faith. In other words, he does not make decisions based on a physical vision, emotion or feeling that are natural to the human will. Rather, he makes his decisions based on a spiritual vision; in other words, according to the will of God." (Edir Macedo, The Faith of Abraham)

The richest pastor in the world (according to Forbes), Edir Macedo, shares on the faith of Abraham through this book. He shares how Abraham took God at his Word. When God commanded him to sacrifice his son on Mount Moriah, he obeyed. Of course, we found out that it was actually God testing his faith and God provided a ram for the sacrifice. Sometimes, God will test our faith and tell us to do something. The question is "will we obey"?

You get a few hints about how the author, Edir Macedo, conducts himself and how he believes. One, he mentioned the act of obedience of giving tithes and offerings a couple times throughout this book. If you study many of the most wealthiest people in the world, most believe in giving part of their wealth away. For example, John D. Rockefeller, was a tither.

Also, he mentions that Abraham had a determination and did not see by his physical eyes, but through his spiritual eyes. When God promised him a son, he believed God, even though the physical said it could not be done, as both he and his wife were too old to have children. This shows me that the author operates his life the same way. He walks by faith and not by sight. He has a vision. A God-given vision. We also, should learn to hold to the promises, visions and dreams that God has given us and not allow the physical circumstances or the naysayers to dissuade us.

Another insight that I found enlightening in this book was that Sarah asks her servant to have intercourse with her husband Abraham, to help God fulfill His promise of a son. We sometimes do this. We will try to do things in the physical to make things happen, instead of allowing God to work it all out. I know I have done this, when I should have waited on God to fulfill what He said would happen.

The good work God has begun in you shall be complete. God said it. It will be done. (Philippians 1:6)

One of the Best Books Bishop Macedo has written. Abraham is an example for all Christians around the world to follow, he is our father in faith. If we don't use our faith like Abraham did, then we are not worthy to be called Christians. This book is very detailed in explaining exactly what each and every Christian needs to do to have all the blessings that God promised his servants.
