"Second-Hand Stories: 15 Portraits of Louisville" is a compilation of articles by award-winning journalist Michael L. Jones. The book includes profiles of the indie band Rachel's, former James Brown trumpeter Richard "Kush" Griffith, sculptor Ed Hamilton, painter Bob Thompson, the seminal indie rock club Tewligan's and the history of Louisville Jug Bands.
This is a little bit dated to read in 2024 and made me sad to reminisce about Louisville institutions that are dead and gone (i.e. Ear-X-Tacy indie music store, etc.) but I appreciate the Anne Braden biography piece and the one about city-county merger drama.
