Tumble through time…

A dig on the border of Scotland sends a scholarly damsel slipping through time to medieval England. Jennifer Wilson always knew she’d been born in the wrong century. Happy digging in the dirt, caring not for modern-life or appearances, she quickly finds out medieval England isn’t as romantic as she’d dreamed.

Pre-occupied with war, Edward Thornton has met strange lasses before. He suspects from whence she comes. But a dangerous threat across the border threatens to tear them apart.

“Would you like an adventure now, or should we have our tea first?”
-Alice in Wonderland

Cynthia Luhrs spends her time out on the deck, looking out over the mountains, imagining what if. She writes women’s fiction, time travel romance, contemporary romance, family sagas, paranormal romance, and thrillers. Readers say her books (well not the thrillers, those are gritty) are light-hearted reads to escape reality.
She lives in the mountains of North Carolina, has always been a reader, and is overly fond of sparkly flip flops and pretty pens. Though now that she lives in the mountains she’s going to have to find fabulous boots, mittens, and hats!

Jennifer Wilson is a modern woman that's equal parts lady and wanderer. Jennifer is spending her summer at Somerforth Castle working around archaeological dig. Jennifer loves everything about Somerforth Castle even annoying Monica. Yet a chance discovery leads Jennifer to an experience of a lifetime living in 1334. Edward Thornton is Lord Somerforth having issues with two Scottish clans Armstrong and Johnston with raiding and sacking. Edward and his brother Christian are unmarried of the five Thornton brothers. Edward vows to Christian to find them both brides. Although Edward thinks a future girl is more of his type than the biddable girls and woman that surround him. When Edward meets Jennifer his world is dramatically changed in ways even he couldn't predict. Jennifer over hears a conversation that is dangerous and wants to tell Edward about it only she's taken ill and can't. Edward learns of a traitor in his mist but doesn't know who it is from Connor. Will Jennifer share her knowledge? Is Edward kicking himself for asking to have future girl as his bride? Who is the traitor? Your answers await you in First Knight.

This series keeps getting better and better with each book. The characters are always fun, real, gritty, honest , down to earth, complex, raw, compelling, and unique too. The story really hold's your attention from the first page to the last page. I'm always wanting to know more which means it's a page turner for me. Looking forward to the next book in this exciting series.

**I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.**

I have loved this series from the first page of the first book, 'Darkest Knight', to the last page of this book, 'First Knight', book three. I couldn't put this book down once I started reading. The storyline was incredibly intriguing. Jennifer was hilarious when it came to the 'ways' of women and their place in the 1300's. I did love her outlook on life and the way she dealt with people. She's kind, loving and finally took a chance on something she avoided most of her life, love and friendship.

'Last Knight' comes out in November.

I can't say enough good things about this time travel series! The characters are spectacular, the wit is entertaining and the combination of two time periods colliding is magical! And to top it all off, a character was named after me which is truly an honor.

Another great read by Cynthia Luhrs! If you love the mix of strong female characters, time travel romances and just as strong of male characters give this latest book in the Thornton brothers, Edwards story a read and you won't be disappointed.

This is Thornton Brother Time-Travel Series #3, and its title is The First Knight by Cynthia Luhrs. The first refers to Edward, the oldest of the Thornton brothers (37/38). I liked this one the best out of the three that I have read. It appeared ‘more realistic’ for someone traveling back in time. Edward would like to marry a’future girl’, and when Jennifer Wilson(27) drops into Edward’s world, he is thrilled. Edward lives near the border of Scotland, and thus, he is involved with the ‘border wars’ with Scotland, and these ‘wars’ took place over a very long period of time. When Jennifer goes with a soldier friend of Edward’s to look for him after a bad skirmish, the author’s description of the battlefield, bodies, and stench of death is very similar to what I have read in non-fiction books. The introduction of the Black Chamber which certainly sounds real and a horrible place to go is new and terrifying to me. It looks as though Edward has found his ‘future girl’ in Jennifer Wilson. 41/4 stars.

Another beautiful tale in this series of books.

These are gentle, enjoyable reads and this one has a little bit more angst than the others. The characters, as always, are beautifully written, well developed and likable.

I am always left wanting more of the story as I don't want to think that is the end and would love to follow them further. This time I also want to know more about Connor.

Excellent Storytelling!

I am enjoying this series so much. The best escape into romance one could ask for. I love the time travel genre, sp much like science fiction. This author paints her characters so vividly, it helps this reader fall right into the fantasy. This helps me escape from the reality of tragedy that the recent political election will bring on my beloved country of America! Our new President Elect is presently choosing those for his cabinet to visit Retribution on us All!

Great for those times when you just want to suspend reality, and sink into the lighter side of life. They might be a little cliche and the same story told in 6 different ways, but still, they entertain.

A strong woman is needed in a good book and a logical caring mature man… perfection. Thanks for the great time travel reads!

I think I scan read this from start to finish. It was a real disappointment but I had to find out what happened with Edward and Jennifer, even if it was a cliche story just barfed onto paper. So I go onto Christian's story. What a time travel dupe I am.

What a hottie! These characters were more my speed. I love that the piper and the campers were in this one, Jennifer is more my speed too being more of an introvert. Of course hot Conner made an appearance as well. Hubba hubba.
