O risco de querer

Rate this book

I really enjoyed this book. It was refreshing to read a book where the heiress works, owns her own Ranch, and also owns a side business. She was not down on her luck, or had nowhere to go. She did have her own demons, but doesn't everyone? Abby and Leo shared one HOT, and steamy night together. Leo fell hard for Abby. The feelings Abby had were so strong, that they scared her. She said some mean things to Leo, to get him to leave her alone. Then she found out she was pregnant with his child. I loved how calm Leo was most of the time, and how he took care of Abby. Hey I love any man that can cook. Leo knew his way around the kitchen. He didn't mind cooking for her. I loved how the two slowly fell in love. it was a sweet story. It also had a forest fire, and a missing twin. I'm not sure I liked how the story kept flashing back to the past, then to the present time. All, and All it was a good book.

Did not like it, the heroine was so mean I did not like her at all. The paternity of her baby is a bit iffy for me having read the previous book.

From Previous Book
- not sure when Abby last slept with her ex (Shanghai)
- Shanghai almost proposed to her and they fought didn't sleep together, then he went to Mexico to rescue Mia (mother of his daughter, presumed dead wife of his brother, woman Shanghai really loved), they did have sex and he did feel guilty for cheating on Abby
- when Shanghai got back from Mexico he left with Abby and it's unknown if he slept with her
- Shanghai was a bull rider and he traveled after he got back from Mexico (running from his feelings for Mia)
- He didn't break up with Abby til just days before meeting up with Mia again
- Shanghai was away for awhile that Vanilla (daughter) got bigger so could be weeks or months
- It was never addressed if he still slept with Abby while still being in a relationship with her during time from left with Abby and reuniting with Mia
- Abby hooked up with Leo pretty soon after Shanghai broke up with her.

In this book she never recalled when she last slept with Shanghai and he even kissed her after her wedding to Leo (weird). I didn't like that Leo already had an accidental daughter (shows pattern of not using protection responsibly). Not really a fan of how this series feels like a soap opera (characters marrying sibling of one that they actually love, then a bunch of adoption and finding out parents are not who thought were, long lost siblings, and also the presumed dead for years then actually alive). It was quite good I enjoyed both characters but I do find it anoying when one person knows a very important secret and for one reason or another doesn't tell them even when they have many opportunities to do so also you know that that secret will blow up in their face.

An enjoyable & lighthearted read. I felt everything progressed too quickly. Had it been a longer read, with emotions and all events taking place with more detail and over a longer period of time, I believe I would have enjoyed it more.

For what it is I really enjoyed it. I hadn't read a harlequin in ages and this delivered everything that I wanted.
