THE SPIRITUAL LEADER GIVES SHORT TEACHINGS

John-Roger Hinkins (born Roger Delano Hinkins; 1934-2014) was an author and the founder of the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness (MSIA), as well as several other New Age organizations.

He wrote in the Introduction to this 1973/1982/2000 book, “The force that is the supreme Lord of all universes is so omnipotent and so far beyond what the human mind can envision that there are no words that can describe or give sense to it. Since language is a primary form of communication, however, we use words as reference points that have meaning to most of us. We are all spiritual beings. We are all of God. We are all of Spirit. There is nothing that is not of God. There is no one who is not of Spirit.’ (Pg. viii-ix)

He continues, “The inner elements of human consciousness, most of which are invisible, are actually microcosms of greater, outer levels of existence. Within each of us is a rich world of feelings, imagination, thoughts, etc., We could spend and endless amount of time exploring these inner realities. And yet, they are only a reflection in miniature of what lies outside of our own consciousness.” (Pg. xiii)

He goes on, “The Soul is positive in nature. The realm of the Soul and the realms of Spirit above the Soul are designed to lift us and bring us freedom. In the positive realms, the lower worlds lost their influence. The plan and purpose of the lower worlds becomes clear and in that clarity is freedom.” (Pg. xviii)

He concludes, “Into this matrix of positive and negative levels come those who are enlightened, who have discovered how these different levels work and fit together, and who have experienced the Soul and Spirit directly. We call the masters and great teachers of humanity. They assist people to awaken to their greater destiny; they teach of God’s love and God’s plan. Living in the higher realms of Light, these great masters and teachers become imbued with the positive energy of Spirit. As they come into the lower worlds, they bring that energy with them. The Soul within each person intuitively recognizes that energy from Spirit as its greater reality and moves toward it. When the Soul starts turning toward its true home, the grip of the lower levels is loosened and falls away. As we attune to our Soul, we learn and grow in our awareness of God and are finally able to transcend the lower levels of consciousness and reach our home in Spirit.” (Pg. xxvi-xxvii)

He states, “There are great Masters who come into the lower realms of Light. Their message can be uplifting and inspiring; the abilities they demonstrate can be miraculous. Some masters are connected to a universal consciousness from the high, positive realms of pure Spirit. They are aware of all the levels of consciousness, and they have the ability to work with, teach, guide, and show the way ‘home’ to those Sols who are ready to lift out of the cycle of the lower levels and return to the Soul realm. Jesus the Christ was such a Master. Because he was so powerful and his impact on the Western world so great, people in Western culture usually relate to the Christ or the Christ consciousness as a manifestation of this higher level of spirit. Jews and Christians alike share in this tradition, for though Jews don’t recognize Jesus as the Messiah, the concept of the Messiah is a very important part of their tradition.” (Pg. 6-7)

He continues, “The Christ is a universal consciousness that dwells within everyone, although some people are more awakened to and aware of it than others. The teachings of the Christ… are universal. They don’t conflict with any other teachings; they encompass all other teachings, through their universal approach. The consciousness of the Christ is the consciousness of pure Spirit. It exists within each one of us through the Soul.” (Pg. 8)

He goes on, “The Christ within one person can awaken the Christ within others. When you perceive the Christ consciousness, you begin to awaken to hat greater expression in yourself. There is a line of spiritual masters called ‘Mystical Travelers’ who work directly through the line of the Christ… The Mystical Traveler consciousness, as a agent of God, draws its energy from the pure, spiritual realm.” (Pg. 10-11)

He asserts, “Baraka represents a divine essence extended from Spirit to the human consciousness. Those people who have ascended into the higher realms of Light receive of these essence, bring it forward into this level, and can bestow it upon others… Until you can find someone who can bring Baraka to you, however, the information has little value without the experience. If you receive Baraka and let it flow into you, it will flow through every center of your beingness and transform you as it uplifts you. Baraka is an essence of divine energy, divine love… The experience of Baraka is described in many ways. It is called the ‘Holy Spirit,’ ‘grace,’ ‘seeing the Light,’ and hearing the Sound.’ Baraka is a universal experience.” (Pg. 25-28)

He states, “Twaji differs somewhat from Darshan, which is the vision of the Light that can bring about a form of spiritual enlightenment. Twaji, the gaze of God presented to you through the Traveler consciousness, can go beyond that in its effect. It can establish you in Soul consciousness immediately. This level of the Twaji is often given when a person is getting ready to die. Twaji if presented and the person immediately transcends the physical and is established in Spirit.” (Pg. 65)

He says, “Spirit is given to you freely, and you must receive it freely. There is no other way to receive it. You can’t receive Spirit intellectually, emotionally, or physically. You cannot think about it, feel it or touch it. Yet it is more valuable to you than your next breath. It is the living water of life. It is the ocean of divine love and mercy. It is the essence of life itself.” (Pg. 83)

He asserts, “The teachings show you how to live in a rightful, upright way, bypassing levels of deceit, lies, cheating and dishonesty. You don’t have to express those negative areas unless you want to remain here in the physical world. If you want to remain here on this negative level, all you have to do is give allegiance to lust, anger, avarice, hatred, despair envy, vanity, and attachment. You guarantee yourself continued life in the negative worlds through these expressions.” (Pg. 105)

He observes, “We sometimes talk about being on a spiritual path, but that’s misnomer, for there is no path. There is no distance. There is no ‘end’ to this discovery. You are already all that you will be. You are already that which you seek. The blessings already are, and all you need to do is open your eyes and see that. All you need is the realization.” (Pg. 143)

This book will appeal to those who like John-Roger’s writings (despite the controversy over his personal life).
