I, along with countless others, have been awaiting the fruits of this rock star collaboration and sweet Jeebus and Mary...
It was worth the wait!
In this first book of the Circle of Ten Sentinels, we meet a man who can melt a girl's Hello Kitties at the drop of a wink. Dapper, rich, powerful and chock full of alpha male sexiness, Beron Kenway is a man used to getting what he wants, one way or another.
And even with this golden ticket, he struggles with a serious case of wanderlust, knowing that there is something more out there for him.
Could that something be the luscious but edgy Jacquelynn De Le Cruz? Breaking free of the insulated life her older brother insists on, she hightails it to Las Vegas seeking a new existence. A new life. Her destiny. And love.
But hold up. This isn't your typical boy meets girl saga. It's about families, fate and unexplainable bonds. And as our new friends set out to solve the mystery that binds them together, they also discover a brand new world of noble honor, lasting love and unconditional friendship.
JQ Beron's debut novella has the fluid feel and texture that comes when an author, new or old, throws themselves into their words and worlds and creates pure wonder. My only 'critique' ((if it can be called that)) are that some of the scenes seem to be long on detail. As I suffer (at times) from a chronically recurring case of StephenKingItis myself, I know this is one of those things that definitely fall under the 'damned if you, damned if you don't' category. I have absolute faith that JQ can temper that beast. And JQ...when you do, please tell me the secret! *laughs*
I highly recommend this book to those who love not just love stories, but ones that build the strength of their foundation on honor, family and friendship. Of course, the dazzling love story is one we loved reading about as it unfolds, but finding our 'tribe' so to speak is just as integral and important.
Bravo, JQ! Well done. Now....give me more.
