March 10, 2019described by kirkus as "a nice jewish boy's dog soldiers," so ofc this was required reading. and for the most part it owns! if gritty 70s nyc a la hbo's the deuce is at all fascinating to you, you'll have a lot of fun (speaking of which, gbenga akinnagbe would make an amazing reese were this ever filmed). i'm sorry to report however that this has quite possibly the most anticlimactic ending of anything ever, so avoid yourself some heartbreak and don't get too hype with regard to the closing pages.
