Matthew “Matt” Robert Malloy (DOH vector-borne disease division infectious diseases expert), had been hit weeks ago & was put in the hospital to recuperate.
Back at work, he was still incoherent at times.
Ms. Mavis Booker, Dewey, Jared, & Carol work at DOH infectious diseases also.
Steve was the supervisor at Bug Bee Gone pest control.
Duncan Grant (Duane’s brother, defective heart), Mr. Duane Grant (Duncan’s brother, exterminator), Brad Berkley, Klaus, & Marg were technicians at Bug Bee Gone.
There were lots of samples, research & lots of DOH reports on Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Lyme-like disease, & Ehrlichiosis.
Dr. Montgomery was monitoring & seeing Matt on a regular scheduled basis.
The medicine wasn’t working that great for him.

Duncan had died.
Duane might be very wealthy.
Did Duane have something to do with Duane’s (brother) death?

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written scientific thriller book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great scientific thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

Minimal once again.

I enjoyed this one because of the science. The characters were well defined and very different from each other.

The plot had a tendency to meander, at times, but it got very interesting towards the final third of the book.

Most importantly, I learned a great deal about this topic. Truly fascinating.

If you have patience, you will enjoy In The Tick of Time.

I downloaded this novel in a group of freebies. This is one of the better titles in that group. The plot is unique; the writing style is mostly smooth and polished; I remained engaged in the story throughout.

The characters in this book were very one dimensional, it was hard to tell the good guy from the bad guy because of this.

I’ll admit to having some mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand it is a a nicely-written thriller. The pacing is a bit on the slow side, but I prefer that to the breathless gallop that too many authors use in place of plot. The plot features some fascinating scientific details, and a quick Internet search proved that they are horrifyingly real. As the title suggests there are some nasty insects involved, and that added some shivers for me as I’ve spent time in areas where ticks were an issue. The protagonist has some interesting skills, and some unique personal obstacles to overcome. Any character that uses data analysis to solve a mystery gets high marks from me. The antagonist is a sympathetic one, with an interesting skill set of his own.
On the other hand the overall plot, while interesting and nicely done, seemed somewhat “formula” to me. The characters are adequate to the task, but didn’t really pop out as fully-developed people. My biggest rough spot is the antagonist. Although a sympathetic character, and nicely developed, the depth of his skills simply didn’t ring true for me and that took the edge off the suspense.
Overall, this is an enjoyable book I’d recommend for beach or travel reading. It is entertaining and undemanding.
Why 3 stars? To me, 3 stars indicates something worth reading, 4 stars indicates that a book that has something special going for it in addition to being a good read, and 5 stars is reserved for books with a richness and depth that totally blow me away (eg. "Dune" or "Lord of the Rings").
DISCLAIMER : I received a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review as part of Mystery Thriller Week.

This is the story about an epidemic that caught attention of Matt Malloy, a disease expert.
I found it interesting that the main character, while busy investigate, also busy battling his personal struggle. Matt has a form of sleeping disorder that ruins the normality of his life. I feel bad for him, his work dan personal life getting really messy from that.

A sleeping disorder and tick borne disease are not something i'm familiar with (i don't have a sleeping disorder or know someone who have and in my country, tick is not a huge threat in medical field, *at least not to my knowledge*).
So i was start reading it with a weird feeling about the theme, nevertheless this is a good story though.

I like it although not so much with the ending. I want :D

The Department of Health’s vector-borne disease division, Matt Malloy is battling a sleep deprivation caused by a bash on the head, but he knows there is something amiss with a concentration of Buffalo Head infections. Nobody believes him, putting his obsession down to his condition.
I enjoyed this unusual tale of revenge and determination. It ticks all the tension and excitement boxes.

This was a good book. I enjoyed the fact that it really could happen. I also enjoyed the characters and the setting. This is the 2nd or 3rd book by P.D. Workman that I have read and hopefully it won't be the last.
